Joe Rosga is averaging 11.1 points, while Marcus Byrd is adding 8.9 points and Bryant Rucker is chipping in 8.0 points a game. DU has nine players averaging over 10 minutes per game. Denver was picked to finish eighth in the Summit League by league coaches, media and SIDs. About North Dakota State: North Dakota State comes into Sunday s contest with a 10-4 record. The Bison defeated Northland College in its last outing on Dec. 30, This will be NDSU s league opener. North Dakota State comes in with a 30 game home winning streak which is good for sixth-best in the country. NDSU is 43-2 at home since the start of the season. The Joe Scott Show: The Joe Scott Show returns for its eighth season each Monday from 6-6:30 p.m. MT on Mile High Sports Radio AM 1340 KDCO. Brad Thompson hosts the show, which is broadcast from The Pioneer restaurant, located just south of the DU campus. DU on ROOT SPORTS: The Pioneers will make six appearances on ROOT SPORTS. Vic Lombardi, Mike Evans and Jerry Schemmel (play-by-play) and Greg Lackey (color) will call all the home action. Interviews During The Week: All interview requests must be arranged through Ali Majdeteimouri in the Denver Media Relations Office. Please contact Majdeteimouri to arrange interviews during the week. Majdeteimouri can be reached via (ali. office phone ( ) or cell phone ( ). Practice is open, but arrangements must be made in advance if you are planning on shooting B-roll footage. Postgame Interviews: Postgame interviews will be conducted at a designated site following a 10-minute cooling-off period. Denver head coach Joe Scott and selected players will be available for interviews. Media requests for both Denver and opposing coaches and players should be made to the DU men s basketball SID. Opponent requests will be forwarded to the visiting SID. The DU men s basketball locker room is closed to the media. Camera Procedures: Photographers must work within the designated areas. Photographers may shoot from the right side of each end line of Magness Arena. Requests to photograph from any other location must be made in advance to the University of Denver Athletic Media Relations Department. The University of Denver reserves the right to accept or reject credential requests. Radio: All radio stations wishing to broadcast from Magness Arena should contact the University of Denver Athletic Media Relations Office at least one week prior to the event. Space will be provided for the official radio station of the visiting team; others will be accommodated as space permits. Phone lines must be arranged for all stations in advance. Directions to DU: Take I-25 to the South University Boulevard exit. Proceed south to the first stop light (Buchtel Boulevard). Go through the Buchtel Boulevard intersection to the next block south (Jewell Avenue). Take a right on Jewell and proceed west approximately one-half block to the east entrance to the Ritchie Center. Media parking is just east of Joy Burns Arena (the easternmost part of the Ritchie Center) in lot 401. Notes (cont.) The Match-up: This is the 11th meeting between the teams. North Dakota State defeated Denver three times last season with two of the victories coming in overtime. Nifty Nate: Senior Nate Engesser is averaging 13.9 points a game on 58.0 percent shooting from the field and 51.6 percent from behind the arc. Engesser has tied his career high twice this season on Nov. 15, 2015 against Lipscomb and Dec. 13, 2015 against Weber State scoring 26 points. The senior has three games this season where he has drained six 3-pointers. Engesser knocked down a career-high seven 3-pointers against Belmont on Nov. 26, Denver s Most Wins at NCAA Division I* Year Won Lost Pct * Division II/NAIA in Engesser set career highs in assists (6) and steals (3) vs. Western Illinois on Jan 14, He tied his career high in assists by dishing out six against Omaha on Feb. 7, 2015 and steals (3) at Santa Clara. Engesser grabbed a career-high seven rebounds at Western Illinois on Feb. 21, Byrd s Eye View: Redshirt senior Marcus Byrd is averaging 8.9 points on 49.5 percent shooting from the field and 3.3 rebounds a game. Byrd dished out a career-high eight assists against Lipscomb on Nov. 15, Byrd played a career-high 40 minutes at IUPUI on Jan. 10, Byrd played in his 100th career game at San Diego on Dec. 9, The Long Ranger: The Pioneers have at least one 3-pointer in 299 straight games, dating back to Feb. 2, Fresh Faces: The Pioneers added six freshmen to the team. Guards Thomas Neff, Jake Holtzmann, Joe Rosga, Bradley George and forwards C.J. Bobbitt and Abiola Akintola. Neff and Holtzmann are from Colorado, George and Bobbitt are from Texas, Rosga is from Minnesota and Akintola is from Australia. Young and Youthful: The Pioneers will have 13 of 17 players classified as freshmen or sophomores (76.5 percent) on their roster for the season. Passing the Ruck: Senior Bryant Rucker is averaging 8.0 points on 50.6 percent shooting during the season. He set a career high with eight assists against South Alabama on Nov. 28, The senior tied his career high with five assists at Northern Colorado on Dec. 16, Jumping Joe: Freshman Joe Rosga started his first college game of his career against Milwaukee and played a team-high 36 minutes, while scoring nine points. Rosga dropped in a season-high 23 points against Eastern Washington on Dec. 20, Rosga set a career best with four steals on Dec. 13, 2015 against Weber State. Rosga is averaging 11.1 points, 2.3 assists and 3.1 rebounds on the season. Neff-ty: Freshman Thomas Neff made his collegiate debut by starting his first game against Milwaukee. Neff scored seven points, grabbed four rebounds and had two steals in 32 minutes of action. The freshman scored a career-high 14 points against Northern Colorado on Dec. 16, Neff had a season-best six assists at UC-Riverside on Dec. 22, 2015 and a career-best two blocks at San Diego on Dec. 9, Neff is averaging 4.2 points a game during the season Denver Basketball Game Notes page 2

3 Notes (cont.) Magness Magic: The Pioneers are (.770) at Magness Arena under head coach Joe Scott, including a (.821) mark in conference games (Sun Belt/WAC/Summit). Double J: Sophomore Jake Pemberton made his first career start against Air Force on Dec. 5, 2015 and played all 40 minutes. Pemberton is averaging 4.4 points, 2.9 assists and 2.4 rebounds a game during the season. Pemberton had a career-high nine points against Weber State on Dec. 13, Pemberton dished out a career-best eight assists at Northern Colorado on Dec. 16, The sophomore had a career-high six rebounds against Idaho State on Nov. 25, 2015 and a career-best six steals against Air Force. Freshman Jake Holtzmann is averaging 2.7 points a game during the season. Holtzmann scored a season-best 11 points at San Diego on Dec. 9, Oh Danny Boy: Sophomore Daniel Amigo scored a career-high 14 points at South Dakota State on Jan. 31, Amigo started his sophomore campaign with four points and a career-high tying four rebounds in 12 minutes of action against Milwaukee. Amigo is shooting 54.5 percent from the field during the season. Cee C.J.: Freshman C.J. Bobbitt played 16 minutes in his collegiate debut against Milwaukee and led the Pioneers with 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field. Bobbitt had a season-high 13 points against Idaho State on Nov. 25, Bobbitt is leading the Pioneers with 4.3 rebounds a game and had a season-high seven rebounds against Lipscomb on Nov. 15, Bobbitt returned to action on Jan.1, 2016 at South Dakota State after missing seven games due to illness. Big Mac: Sophomore Christian Mackey is averaging 4.1 points and 2.4 rebounds a game during the season. Mackey set a career high with 10 points against Air Force on Dec. 5, Mackey set a career high with five assists against Weber State on Dec. 13, Mackey s career-high six rebounds was on Jan. 2, 2015 against South Dakota State. The Duke: Redshirt sophomore Duke Douglas is averaging 2.3 points and 1.7 rebounds per game during the season. In Joe Scott s nine seasons at DU, the Pioneers have recorded an assist on 67.3 percent of their field goals (3,801 assists on 5,646 field goals made), ranking among the top six highest percentages in the nation every year. 80 Plus: The Crimson and Gold s victory at Northern Colorado was Denver s second win of the season when the Pioneers have scored 80 or more points. The Pioneers first 80 point game of the season came in a victory over Lipscomb on Nov. 15, 2015 in the Cable Car Classic. Denver s defeat to Colorado State on Dec. 19, 2014 was the first time in head coach Joe Scott s career that one of his teams has lost a game when his team has scored more than 80 points. DU s game against Belmont on Dec. 17, 2013 (90-62) marked the first time a Joe Scott-coached team scored 90 points. In his 16th season, Scott is 22-1 when his team (Air Force, Princeton, Denver) scores at least 80 points. It s Raining Threes: The Pioneers came out firing at the Cable Car Classic in Santa Clara, Calif. to open the season hitting 36 3-pointers in their first three games of the season. Denver hit a men s basketball Magness Arena record 17 three-pointers against Colorado State on Dec. 19, 2014 breaking the previous record of 16 done twice before (2/18/12 vs Louisiana-Monroe and 12/3/02 vs. UMKC). The team record is 18 which was done on Jan. 4, 2004 at Southern Utah. The Pioneers hit 16 3-pointers against Lipscomb on Nov. 15, 2015 which was tied for third all-time in school history and most made in a neutral site game. Nine Point Half: The Crimson and Gold held Idaho State to nine points (4-for-22) in the second half of their game on Nov. 16, This was the first time 10 or fewer points were allowed since Denver held New Orleans to 10 points in the first half on Feb. 20, 2010 in a game played in New Orleans, La. 4 Walking On: The Pioneers roster will feature four walk-ons this season. Josiah Dunn will return for his junior season. Sam Victor, Jacob Lunsford and Emil Knighton will join Dunn on the roster as walk-ons. Double Down: Brett Olson was the first player in program history to be drafted in the NBA Development League Draft. He was picked in the third round, 40th overall of the 2015 draft by the Maine Red Claws (Boston Celtics affiliate). Chris Udofia was signed by the Golden State Warriors in the offseason and is currently with the Santa Cruz Warriors. Working Overtime: The Pioneers played three overtime games during the season. Two of them against North Dakota State on Feb. 12, 2015 falling and also at North Dakota State on Jan. 29, 2015 falling to the Bison. Denver s first overtime game of the season saw the Pioneers defeat Saint Joseph s at Magness Arena on Dec. 29, During the season Denver fell to UTEP in double overtime on Dec. 29, 2013, marking DU s first multi-overtime game since Jan. 3, 2009, at Louisiana-Lafayette. Also, during the season, the Pioneers played back-to-back overtime games for the first time since The Pioneers beat Southern on Dec. 3 for the team s first overtime win of the season and they fell at Mercer on Dec. 7. Denver is 6-23 in overtime games since returning to NCAA Division I in , and 5-15 in such games since head coach Joe Scott took over the program in , including a neutral-site win in Norman, Okla., against East Central University in the 2K Sports College Hoops Classic on Nov. 8, 2008, in Scott s first game with the Pioneers. Princeton (1987), Notre Dame (1990) Joe Scott enters his ninth season as the University of Denver men s basketball head coach in The Pioneers have gone , including a mark at Magness Arena, in Scott s nine seasons. The Crimson and Gold finished the season with 12 wins. DU finished in the top 30 in the NCAA in several statistical categories; ninth in FT percentage (76.6), 18th in FG percentage (48.0), 20th in fewest turnovers (338), 23rd in assist to turnover ratio (1.35) and 28th in assists per game (15.2). The Pioneers finished their first season in the Summit League in with a record of overall and 8-6 in Summit League play. DU placed two members of the team of the All-Summit League First Team senior Chris Udofia and junior Brett Olson. Udofia was also named Summit League Defensive Player of the Year. The Pioneers ended the season ranked ninth in in the NCAA in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.52), 15th in turnovers per game (9.9), 26th in three-pointers per game (8.2) and turnover margin (2.6), 29th in three-point percentage (.387), 41st in assists per game (15.0) and 46th in scoring defense (64.5). Denver shared the Western Athletic Conference regular season title in DU s only year in the league, compiling a record of overall and 16-2 in the WAC. The Pioneers finished the season ranked 63rd in the RPI, 44th in the Pomeroy Ranking, 55th on ESPN s Basketball Power Index and 63th in the Sagarin Rating, all of which were the highest in Denver s history. DU ranked fifth in the NCAA in assist/turnover ratio (1.45), sixth in scoring defense (55.9), eighth in turnover margin (4.6), 10th in both field-goal percentage (48.0) and assists per game (16.1), 15th in steals per game (9.0), 25th in turnovers per game (11.2) and 30th in three-pointers per game (7.9). In , Scott led the Pioneers to a team-record 22 NCAA Division I victories, including signature victories against Southern Mississippi and Saint Mary s, which both ended the season among the Top 30 in the RPI and played in the NCAA Tournament. DU also was one of only two teams in the country, along with Missouri, to be in the top 20 in the nation in the following offensive categories: field goal percentage (eighth at 48.8 percent), effective field goal percentage (third at 57.3 percent), three-point field goal percentage (eighth at 39.8 percent), free throw percentage (14th at 76.2 percent) and assists (16th at 15.6 per game).
