Morse became just the second player in school history with at least 1,700 career points and 200 made 3-pointers. He ranks second all-time with 211 3s and eighth with 1,775 points. Morse also moved into the top 10 in career assists and career steals. He ranks ninth with 120 career steals and 10th with 301 career assists. Bohannon Doublin Up Freshman Naz Bohannon back-to-back double-doubles for the first time in his career with 11 points and a career-best 15 rebounds against Wright State on Jan. 15. He also posted the second double-double of his career with career bests in points (13) and rebounds (12) against Detroit Mercy on Jan. 12. He is the first YSU freshman to record at least three double-doubles in the same season since joining the Horizon League in Bohannon is the first YSU freshman since to post multiple double-doubles in the same season. The last freshman to do so was Bobby Hain. Double-Double Squared Junior Devin Haygood and freshman Naz Bohannon each posted double-doubles against Detroit Mercy on Jan. 12. He posted the first double-double of his career with 13 points and 11 assists against Cleveland State on Jan. 1. The last player to record a point-assist double-double was Francisco Santiago against Canisius on Nov. 26, Morse ranks fourth in the Horizon League with 4.0 assists per game and 10th in scoring with 14.3 points per contest. Hartfield Nets Career Highs Sophomore Braun Hartfield turned in a career night in the Penguins loss to Canisius on Nov. 18. The Cleveland, Ohio, native scored a careerhigh 33 points on 11-of-18 shooting from the field, including a career-high-tying five 3-pointers. Penguins Sign Three During Early Signing Period Youngstown State signed three players to National Letters of Intent during the early signing period. The Penguins added guards Darius Quisenberry (Huber Heights, Ohio), Jelani Simmons (Columbus, Ohio) and Atiba Taylor (Hackensack, N.J.). Quisenberry averaged 14.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game last season while Simmons posted averages of 15 points per game, 6.0 rebounds per game and 5.0 assists per game. Calhoun, a native of Cleveland, Ohio, spent the last five seasons as the head coach at Fairmont State and accumulated an overall record of He guided FSU to the NCAA Division II Tournament in each of the last three years and four times overall. The Falcons won at least 20 games in each of his five seasons and won nearly 80 percent of their conference games. The 2017 Mountain East Conference Coach of the Year, Calhoun directed the Fighting Falcons to an overall record of 34-3 and the program s first national runner-up finish in Fairmont State won its first conference championship in 21 years with a mark of 21-1 and received its first NCAA Division II No. 1 ranking since The program also won 30-or-more games for the first time since Calhoun was a successful assistant coach at Walsh and most recently at West Virginia under Bob Huggins.
