1 As of January 3, 2018 COLORADO AMATEUR HOCKEY ASSOCIATION 2018 COLORADO STATE SELECTION CAMP INFORMATION AGE GROUPS: 2001 (17), 2002 (16), 2003 (15), 2004 (14) PRE-GOALIE SESSION: MAR 20 & 21, 2018 STATE CAMP SESSIONS: MARCH 23-25, 2018 Note: We are looking for players that can compete at the AAA and AA levels Who is the State Camp For? Colorado resident players who would like the opportunity to skate against high level players from their birth year and want to be selected to move on to the Rocky Mountain District (RMD), Western Regional Camp or Girls Multi-District District Player Development/Evaluation Camp. This is not a training camp. It is a selection camp. The camp is open to all girls and boys that can compete at the AAA and AA skill levels, who are age eligible and whose parent(s) are permanent residents of Colorado. Who is age eligible? Colorado residents (players whose parent(s) are permanent residence of Colorado) who are age eligible for the State Camp born in the following years: 2001, 2002, 2003 or Billet Players: These players are NOT eligible for the Colorado State Selection Camp. Out of state players must attend the State Selection Camp for their state of residence. Boys Registration by Skill Level We will continue with the three (3) phase registration process that establishes enrollment times based on the current player level. The phased registration time periods have been decreases to just 48 hours. Due to the problems experienced in the past, there are no exceptions to the enrollment times. The phased enrollment is as follows: Boys AAA Registration - The first registration phase will be restricted to current AAA players. If the camp allocations fill up with current AAA players, the camp registration for that age group will be closed. Boys AA Registration - The second registration phase will be restricted to current AAA and AA players. If the camp allocations fill up with current AAA and AA players, the registration for that age group will be closed. (Preparatory school is considered AA) Boys Open Registration - The third registration phase will be open to all players for the age groups that have not reached the camp allocations. (High school is considered in the Open Registration) NOTE: Players should be able to compete at the AAA and AA levels; it is not the right event to see how a player stacks-up, that is what tryouts are for. Players are not guaranteed a specific number of ice sessions and can be cut at any time during the camp. Girls Registration Girls will not be using the three (3) phase registration process. Registration will be open for all age groups and levels until the age group allocations have been reached. Page 1 of 6

2 State Camp Registration Numbers The age bracket for boys 2001, 2002 and 2003 will be limited to four (4) groups. Boys 2001 will be limited to two (2) groups. Each group for the boys will be limited to 12 Forwards, 8 Defense and 2 Goalies that will be selected at the Pre-Goalie Session. (Note: these are not the number of players who will be selected to move forward) Due to past registration numbers, the Girls will be limited to one (1) group for each age bracket that will consist of 12 Forwards and 8 Defense. Girl goalies will be determined based on the registration numbers, and may need to go through Pre-Goalie Session. Also as in the past, Girls may skate in mixed age groups, but will be evaluated based on their birth year. (Note: these are not the number of players who will be selected to move forward) Registration numbers are as follows (Note: these are not the number of players who will be selected to move forward): 2002, 2003, 2004 Boys Forwards 48 for each age bracket 2002, 2003, 2004 Boys Defense 32 for each age bracket 2002, 2003, 2004 Boys Goalies 8 for each age bracket as selected at the pre-goalie camp 2001 Boys Forwards Boys Defense Boys Goalies 4 as selected at pre-goalie camp Girls Forwards 12 for each age bracket Girls Defense 8 for each age bracket Girls Goalies Determined based on registration numbers NOTE: As in the past, registration for the Girls may vary depending on the number of girls that register. The camp director and registrar will work with the girls as needed. Non USA Citizens - Players MUST be USA citizens to advance to the District Camp(s). Those players who are not USA citizens, but played hockey in Colorado during the season should contact the Camp Registrar, April-Dawn Jardine at aprildawngjardine@gmail.com prior to registering and will be invited to participate in the State Selection Camp on an as room available basis after the open registration period has closed. These players must be recommended in writing by their coaching director. Failure to follow proper registration process may lead to the player not being able to participate in the State Selection Camp. Out-of-State Players - Out-of-state players (i.e., a billeted player whose parent(s) are permanent residence of another state) may attend the State Selection Camp for evaluation purposes only. These individuals are not eligible for a Colorado slot to the District Camp(s). We will provide the player s home state an evaluation letter that identifies the player s ranking among the Colorado players by gender, birth year and position. Out-of- State Players that wish to attend the Colorado State Selection Camp should contact the Camp Registrar, April-Dawn Jardine at aprildawngjardine@gmail.com prior to registering for the camp. Failure to follow proper registration process may lead to the player not being able to participate in the State Selection Camp. ***Player Commitment: All eligible players (USA citizens, age eligible, and Colorado residents) that register for the State Selection Camp MUST be committed to moving on to the District Camp, Western Regional Development Camp, or Girls Multi-District District Player Development/Evaluation Camp if selected. This is not a training camp, so only those players who want the opportunity and are willing to commit to Rocky Mountain District Camp being held in Dallas, May 10-13, 2018 should register. Only 2004 Boys who are willing to commit to the Western Regional Camp being held in Colorado Springs June 16-21, 2018 should register. Only Girls who are willing to commit to the Girls Multi-District District Player Development/Evaluation Camp ( being held in Colorado Springs, June 9-13, 2018 should register. Page 2 of 6

3 Pre-Camp Goalie Sessions There will be Goalie Only Sessions held Tuesday and Wednesday, March 20 & 21, Goalie only sessions will be limited to 20 goalies and will follow the registration phases as explained above. No more than eight (8) goalies in each age group will be selected to attend the State Selection Camp for Boys 2002, 2003 & There is no guarantee that eight (8) goalies will be selected, selections numbers will be based on the talent pool that attends the Pre-Camp Goalie Sessions; if evaluators determine that only six (6) goalies for an age group should be moved forward, then only six (6) goalies will be selected to attend the State Selection Camp. Four (4) goalies will be selected to attend the State Selection Camp for Boys Evaluators may elect to select up to three (3) goalies per group for Boy Selections and group assignments will be will be posted to the CAHA website ( on Thursday March 22, Girl Goalies In the past, not all Girl Goalies have been required to attend the Goalie Only Sessions due to the limited number of Girl Goalies registered for the State Selection Camp. Once the State Selection Camp registration deadline has passed, we will be able to determine if the registration numbers for the Girl Goalies requires them to attend a Goalie Only Session, and goalies will be notified. Girl Goalies should plan to attend the Goalie Only Sessions just in case. When/Where is the State Camp? The State Selection Camp will be held March 23-25, 2018 at the Family Sports Center located at 6901 South Peoria Street, Centennial CO. The Camp schedule will be posted on the CAHA website NOTE: Schedule is subject to change. The dates will not change, but there could be changes to the scheduled ice times for groups. It is the player s responsibility to check the schedule for updates. Schedules are dated so it is easy to determine if you have the latest schedule. USA Hockey Registrations All camp participants must be registered with USA Hockey and will need their USA Hockey Registration Confirmation Number to register for the State Selection Camp. Players can obtain their Confirmation Number from the USA Hockey Website or Association Registrar. Players not registered with USA Hockey must register online at before registering for the State Selection Camp. Group Assignments Group assignments will be posted on CAHA website by end of day March 15,2018 Please do not request specific group assignments. Since we are unable to accommodate all requests, we do not accommodate any. Ice sessions are normally back-to-back for each age group which is the best option we can provide for those individuals in car pools. Please respect this policy and do not send any requests for specific group assignments. Cost The cost for the State Selection Camp is $125 and registrations must be completed by the published deadlines. Online registration ends March 1, 2018 and will be closed as of 11:59 pm. 4 Forwards and Defense - $125 due with online registration Goalies - $25 due with mail in registration for pre-camp goalie session Check Only $100 due at State Selection Camp Sign-In Check payable to CAHA (No Cash or Credit Card) OR through on0line registration system if State Selection Camp admin decides to use **Do NOT send $125 check with your offline goalie registration. If a refund is required, there will be a $30 administration charge assessed and refunds will not be processed until after the state camp is completed Registration Dates (Forwards/Defense) Camp registration is not completed until payment is received; attempting to register your player without making the required payment does not reserve a slot. DO NOT REGISTER UNTIL YOU ARE PREPARED TO MAKE THE PAYMENT REGISTRATIONS PROCESSED WITHOUT PAYMENT WILL BE DELETED BY THE CAMP REGISTRAR NO EXCEPTIONS. Keep in mind that the registration numbers for each age bracket is limited and registration for those age brackets will close when the maximum number of players is reached. They system does not send receipts. You will not receive a receipt after payment. Please check your banking system for confirmation of payment (NOTE: the position that a player is registered for will be the position they will be evaluated for. NO EXCEPTIONS. Only register for the position that the player wants to be evaluated for) The online registration system is setup to automatically close the registration at 11:59PM, Mountain Standard Time, on March 1, 2018 Boys AAA Players February 1-2, 2018 Boys AA & AAA Players February 3-4, 2018 Boys Open Registration February 5 March 4, 2018 Girls Registration February 1 March 1, 2018 (NOTE: the position that a player is registered for will be the position they will be evaluated for. NO EXCEPTIONS. Only register for the position that the player wants to be evaluated for) Registration (Forward/Defense; NO GOALIES) All defense and forwards (boys and girls) must register online for the State Selection Camp. You must have your USA Hockey Confirmation Number to register. You can obtain your confirmation number from your membership card or by going to the USA Hockey website and requesting a confirmation receipt, or by contacting your association registrar if you did not register online with USA Hockey. 5 Registration (Goalies ONLY) All goalies (boys and girls) must register offline for the State Selection Camp, Pre-Goalie Session. The registration fee is $25 and must be mailed with Registration Form. Valid registration dates for the pregoalie sessions is as follows: Tier I (AAA) Feb 1-2, 2018 Tier II (AA) Feb 3-4, 2018 Open Registration Feb 5 Mar 1, 2018 Mail in registrations must be postmarked in accordance with the valid registration dates above. For example, Tier I AAA goalie registrations must not be postmarked prior to February 1, Tier II AA goalie registration must not be postmarked prior to February 3, 2017 (Preparatory school is considered AA). Open registration goalie registrations must not be postmarked prior to February 5, 2018 (High school is considered in the Open Registration). Goalies $100 camp fee for the goalies selected to move forward to the State Selection Camp is due at sign-in via check only made payable to CAHA (Cannot accept credit cards and prefer not to handle cash) OR through on0line registration system if State Selection Camp admin decides to use. Follow on camps RMD Player Development Camp The RMD Camp is part of USA Hockey s player development process. There are multiple purposes and objectives of the camp. We emphasis skill development; players attending the camp will be on the ice with NCAA College, Junior, AAA, Prep School, USAH National and, sometimes, NHL personnel. It is an opportunity for players across the district to measure themselves against the best players in the district and get exposure to scouts and higher level coaching. We conduct off ice testing measuring attending players against their peers. There are hockey related educational seminars. We will evaluate and rank players for selection to the gender and birth year specific National USA Hockey Select Camps. The RMD Camp frequently asked question can be found at Western Regional Camp - USA Hockey discontinued the national 14 Boys camp to give more players a national camp experience. Statistics show that of the players selected to go to the 14 camp from any district only about 20% will go to all four camps with about a 50% turnover each year. By creating regional select camps more players will have the experience of high level development and education on training and potential hockey career paths. For more information, try the link below; information will be posted when available: Girls Multi-District District Player Development/Evaluation Camp -There is a need for further development, education, and exposure for the female hockey player. A Multi-District (Rocky Mountain, Pacific and Northern Plains) Girls Development/Evaluation Camp using a structure and format very similar to current national camps but increasing the numbers to reach more female athletes expands the opportunities for all of the girls in the three Districts.
