THE SERIES }This is the first meeting between Lawrence and Concordia (Minn.). }St. John s has a record against Lawrence, but it s been a decade since the teams have played. The teams met for the first time iin the season and haven t played since the campaign. LAST SERIES Thirteenth-ranked UW-Eau Claire scored six times in the first period and went on to an 11-2 nonconference victory over Lawrence at Hobbs Ice Center on Dec. 13. Brandon Wahlin had a hat trick and Ross Andersen and Ethan Nauman scored two goals apiece for Eau Claire. Ryan Rumble and Sean Reynolds both scored for the Vikings. Rumble scored just 24 seconds into the game to give Lawrence a 1-0 lead. Wahlin tied the game at the 5:29 mark, and the Blugolds scored five more times over the next 10:52 to go up 6-1. Eau Claire scored early in the second period, but Reynolds scored for Lawrence at the 4:35 mark to cut the margin to 7-2. The Blugolds then scored two more times in the next two minutes to put the game away. Jay Deo made 22 saves to get the win for Eau Claire. Mattias Soderqvist made 37 saves for the Vikings. VIKINGS UPDATE }Lawrence returns to action for the first time in nearly a month when it travels to Minnesota this weekend. Lawrence hasn t played since its Dec. 13 game at UW-Eau Claire.

2 }Sophomore goaltender Mattias Soderqvist (Stockholm, Sweden) saw his numbers balloon after a rough outing in Lawrence s last game at UW- Eau Claire. Soderqvist is now at on the season. He has a.906 save percentage and 3.70 goals against average. }Freshman forward Jake Kreutzer (Lake Orion, Mich.) leads the team with seven assists, and he has three goals for a team-best 10 points. }Junior forward Renato Engler (Davos, Switzerland) is second on the team in both assists (6) and points (9). Two of Engler s three goals have been game-winners. Sophomore forward Blake Roubos (Niagara Falls, Ontario) is second on the team in both goals (4) and points (9). }Junior forward Ryan Rumble (Newmarket, Ontario) has grabbed the team lead with five goals. The Cobbers have a record in their last eight games. }Concordia s attack is paced by junior forward Jordie Bancroft and sophomore forward Garrett Hendrickson. Bancroft has a team-best nine goals to go along with six assists for 15 points. 8 GAME RECAPS October 31 Lawrence 6, Concordia (Wis.) 2 APPLE- TON, Wis. The Lawrence University hockey team scored the game s final four goals on to pull away for a 6-2 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association victory over Concordia University of Wisconsin at the Appleton Family Ice Center. Mattias Soderqvist stopped 40 shots for Lawrence (1-0-0, NCHA) and didn t allow a goal for the final 44:07 of the contest. Renato Engler had a goal and three assists for Lawrence, and Blake Roubos picked up a goal and two assists for the Vikings. Concordia (0-1-0, 0-1-0) led 1-0 when freshman Matt Montemurro scored his first career goal for Lawrence, a power-play tally, to tie the game at 1-1 at the 13:12 mark of the first. Roubos scored less than a minute later at 14:09 to give the Vikings a 2-1 edge. Cody Dixon then tied it at 2-2 when he scored for the Falcons at the 15:53 mark of the first. Lawrence then got two goals in a span of six seconds to take command in the second. Engler swiped the puck and scored unassisted at the 4:02 mak of the second to put Lawrence up 3-0. The Vikings won the ensuing faceoff and Matt Moore scored at 4:08 for a 4-2 edge. Lawrence sealed the win when freshman Jake Kreutzer scored on the power play at 10:47 of the third to give the Vikings a 5-2 advantage. Brandon Boelter added a goal with just 1:21 left to close out the scoring. November 1 Lawrence 4, Concordia (Wis.) 2 MEQUON, Wis. Blake Roubos scored twice and Renato Engler piled up three points to lead the Lawrence University hockey team to a 4-2 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association victory over Concordia University of Wisconsin at the Ozaukee Ice Center. Lawrence (2-0-0, NCHA) completed a sweep of the Falcons (0-2-0, 0-2-0) in the season-opening series. Roubos scored the game s first goals in span of 3:36 in the opening period to give Lawrence the lead. Roubos scored at the 10:09 mark off assists from Engler and Jake Kruetzer for a 1-0 lead. He then added a powerplay goal at 13:45 off a pass from Engler for a 2-0 advantage. The Falcons cut the margin in half on Chris Hughes goal at the 14:34 mark and Lawrence led 2-1 after the opening period. Matt Moore scored 4:31 into the second period, and the score stayed 3-1 until Engler scored just 1:45 into the third period. The Falcons scored with 1:42 remaining for the final margin. Mattias Soderqvist stopped 44 shots to pick up the win for Lawrence. Dylan Frank made 33 saves for Concordia. November 7 Marian 2, Lawrence 1 FOND DU LAC, Wis. The Marian University hockey team scored with less than eight minutes left and hung on for a 2-1 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association win over Lawrence University at the Blue Line Ice Center. Derek Thorogood scored with 7:08 remaining to give the Sabres the win. Lawrence pulled goaltender Mattias Soderqvist for the final minute but could not get the equalizer. After a scoreless first period, Lawrence grabbed a 1-0 lead on Gustav Lindgren s goal at the 7:53 mark. Marian tied the game with just 1:33 left in the second period when Ben Morgan scored on the power play. Marian was 1-for-3 on the power play, and Lawrence was 0-for-1 in a game that had only four penalties. Soderqvist stopped 38 shots for Lawrence, and Mike Gudmandson made 25 saves for the Sabres. November 8 Marian 5, Lawrence 2 APPLETON, Wis Marian University scored three times in the second period and rode that outburst to a 5-2 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association win over Lawrence University at the Appleton Family Ice Center. The Sabres (2-2-0, NCHA) broke a 1-1 tie just 2:04 into the second period when Derek Thorogood scored. Marian made it 3-1 at the 14:11 on Thomas Nosella s goal. The Sabres stretched the lead to 4-1 when Matt Williams scored just 1:50 later. Lawrence (2-2-0, 2-2-0) cut the margin to 4-2 on Austin Frank s first collegiate goal at the 12:10 mark of the third period. Frank s power-play goal came off assists from Blake Roubos and Brad Mueller. Marian then sealed the win on Brodie Jamieson s empty-net goal with 1:16 remaining. Lawrence grabbed a 1-0 lead just 2:39 into the game when Patrick Coyne beat Mike Baldwin. Marian tied it at 1-1 on Brian Berger s power-play goal at the 9:11 mark of the first. Baldwin stopped 26 shots to pick up the win for Marian. Mattias Soderqvist made 21 saves for the Vikings. The game was part of the Battle of Highway 41 series, and Marian retained possession of the traveling trophy by virtue of a series sweep.

Lawrence University scored three goals in a four-minute stretch in the second period to take the lead and went on to a 4-2 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association victory over Northland College at the Appleton Family Ice Center. Four different players scored for Lawrence (3-2-0, NCHA), which added an insurance goal in the final period. The Vikings trailed 1-0 midway through the second period when Steve Hughes got his first goal of the season off a pass from Austin Frank at the 9:08 mark. Northland s Michael Berens scored his second goal of the night just 19 seconds later to put the Lumberjacks up 2-1. Lawrence s Tom Lee then slipped behind the Northland defense and beat goaltender Jesse DiLillo one-onone to tie the game at 2-2 at 10:54. The Vikings pulled ahead 3-2 on freshman Brendan Vetter s first career goal off a pass from Frank at the 13:19 mark. Blake Roubos then fired the puck into the upper corner of the net 5:41 into the third period to stretch Lawrence s lead to 4-2. Mattias Soderqvist stopped 31 shots to pick up the win for Lawrence. Lawrence University scored two goals in the final 1:27 to tie it and then netted the game-winner in overtime for a 5-4 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association victory over Northland College at the Appleton Family Ice Center. The Vikings (4-2-0, NCHA) put together a stunning rally to sweep the weekend series from the Lumberjacks (1-5-0, 1-5-0). Lawrence trailed 4-2 when the Vikings pulled goaltender Mattias Soderqvist with 1:45 left in the third period. With an extra attacker on the ice, Lawrence s Jake Kreutzer scored just 12 seconds later to trim the lead to 4-3. The Vikings put Soderqvist back in the game, got control of the puck and pulled their goaltender again. With the extra attacker back on the ice, Brendan Vetter scored with just 33 seconds left in regulation to tie it at 4-4. The Vikings then got the gamewinning goal from Renato Engler just 2:15 into the extra period off passes from Kreutzer and Patrick Coyne. Engler, Kreutzer and Matt Montemurro all had a goal and an assist for the Vikings. Soderqvist made 26 saves to pick up the win, and Northland goaltender Tyler Ampe made 28 saves and took the loss. After a scoreless first period, Darius Cole gave Northland a 1-0 lead just 30 seconds into the second period. Montemurro scored at the 15:32 mark to tie it at 1-1 for the Vikings. Lawrence s Mikkel Johnk then scored his first career goal, a power-play tally, 56 seconds later to give the Vikings a 2-1 edge. Northland came back with another goal by Cole to tie it at 2-2 heading into the third period. Michael Berens and Anthony Stempin scored in the first 10:04 of the final period to give the Lumberjacks a 4-2 advantage before Lawrence rallied. November 21 No. 10 UW-River Falls 4, Lawrence 1 RIVER FALLS, Wis. -- The 10th-ranked UW-River Falls hockey team scored a pair of second-period goals to break a tie and went on to a 4-1 nonconference victory over Lawrence University at Hunt Arena. The game was tied 1-1 midway through the second period when Blake Huppert scored on the power play for the Falcons (5-0-0) at 9:59. River Falls added to that lead just 3:14 later when Mike Fazio scored his second goal of the game for a 3-1 edge. The Falcons added a power-play goal with just 26 seconds left in the game to seal the win. Fazio gave the Falcons a 1-0 lead when he scored at the 8:16 mark of the first period. Lawrence tied it at 1-1 when Sean Reynolds scored his first goal of the season for the Vikings off a feed from Brendan Vetter at the 8:22 mark of the second period. Mattias Soderqvist made 24 saves and took the loss for the Vikings (4-3- 0). Tanner Milliron stopped 28 shots for River Falls. November 22 UW-Stout 2, Lawrence 1 MENOMONIE, Wis. -- A goal early in the third period proved to be the difference as the UW-Stout hockey team defeated Lawrence University 2-1 in a nonconference game at the Dunn County Ice Arena. The Blue Devils (2-5-0) got a goal from Justin Moody just 1:24 into the third period to break a 1-1 tie. The Vikings had a edge in shots in the final period and pulled goaltender Anton Olsson for the final 1:27 but could not get the equalizer. Stout had grabbed a 1-0 lead on Tyler Cayemberg s power-play goal with just two seconds left in the first period. Lawrence (4-4-0) tied it on Matt Moore s goal off a feed from Brandon Boelter at the 17:08 mark of the second period. Olsson made 25 saves for the Vikings, and Spencer Viele made 30 saves for the Blue Devils.

PETER, Minn. -- The Lawrence University hockey team skated to a 3-3 overtime tie with Gustavus Adolphus College in a nonconference game at the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Thanksgiving Showdown. Lawrence (4-4-1) scored a pair of second-period goals to grab the lead, but Gustavus (3-2-4) got the equalizer at the seven-minute mark of the third. Gustavus had three power-play opportunities later in the third but couldn t cash in. The Gusties went 0-for-6 on the power play, and Lawrence was 0-for- 2. Jake McCann gave Gustavus a 1-0 lead with his goal at 8:36 of the opening period. Lawrence tied it at 1-1 just over two minutes later when Brendan Vetter scored off a pass from Matt Moore. Gavin Tufte gave the Gusties a 2-1 lead when he scored at 3:47 of the second, but the Vikings scored twice in a two-minute span to take the lead. Ryan Rumble scored off a pass from Brandon Boelter at 8:47 to tie it, and Jake Kreutzer scored off a pass from Austin Frank at 10:44 to give Lawrence a 3-2 advantage. PETER, Minn. -- Ryan Rumble scored Lawrence University s final two goals to lift the Vikings to a 4-3 nonconference victory over St. Olaf College in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Thanksgiving Showdown. Rumble gave Lawrence (5-4-1) a 3-2 lead late in the second period and then broke a tie early in the third, and that proved to be the difference against the Oles (2-8-0). Rumble gave Lawrence the lead when he scored off assists from Ryan Robertson and Jake Roeper with 1:30 left in the second period. That lead didn t last as Matt Guerts scored on the power play with just 19 seconds left in the period to tie it at 3-3. Lawrence grabbed the 4-3 lead when Rumble scored 3:45 into the third period with Roeper and Robertson picking up assists again. Lawrence goaltender Mattias Soderqvist made that lead stand up as he stopped all 15 St. Olaf shots in the final period. Soderqvist finished with 37 saves. The Vikings also had to kill off a pair of third-period penalties and held the Oles to 1-for-5 on the man-advantage for the game. St. Olaf pulled their goaltender for the final 1:22 but couldn t get the equalizer. Lawrence trailed 1-0 when Brendan Vetter scored with 9:00 left in the first period. The score remained tied at 1-1 until Roeper scored his first collegiate goal, a power-play tally, at the 5:58 mark of the second. Brandon Wahlin had a hat trick and Ross Andersen and Ethan Nauman scored two goals apiece for Eau Claire (7-3-2). Ryan Rumble and Sean Reynolds both scored for the Vikings (5-7-1). Rumble scored just 24 seconds into the game to give Lawrence a 1-0 lead. Wahlin tied the game at the 5:29 mark, and the Blugolds scored five more times over the next 10:52 to go up 6-1. Eau Claire scored early in the second period, but Reynolds scored for Lawrence at the 4:35 mark to cut the margin to 7-2.
