Game time is scheduled for noon at Caniglia Field on the Omaha campus. THE TEAMS Omaha (3-9-2, Summit League) went in a pair of games last weekend. On Friday, the Mavericks tied Summit League opponent North Dakota State 1-1 in double overtime. Hannah Wampler scored on a penalty kick for the lone UNO goal. On Sunday, Omaha stepped out of conference play against Drake University in Des Moines. The Mavs dropped a 2-1 decision in overtime. Chelsi Rohloff scored for Omaha in the second half. South Dakota State (7-5-1, Summit League) went in Summit League play over the weekend. On Friday, the Jackrabbits tied Fort Wayne 3-3 in double overtime. Lauren Kressock, Tori Poole, and Diana Potterveld scored for SDSU. Sunday afternoon had SDSU defeat Oral Roberts 3-0 in Brookings. Nicole Hatcher, Diana Potterveld, and Shelby Raper each had a goal in the win. SERIES HISTORY Sunday s match in Omaha will mark the eighth meeting between the Mavericks and the Jackrabbits. UNO leads the series by a margin. Last season in Brookings, SDSU defeated Omaha 1-0 on a goal by Darci Miller. SCOUTING THE MAVERICKS The Mavericks have played four straight overtime games. They are in those games. Offensively, Omaha is led by Chelsi Rohloff. The junior has scored nine goals and dished out two assists for 20 points on the season. Rohloff has started 13 of 14 matches this year and has netted two game winning goals. She has been named Summit League Player of the week on October 6th for her two goal performance against Denver. Currently, Rohloff leads the Summit League with nine goals. She also ranks second in the league in points scored with 20. Defender Hannah Wampler is second on the team with three goals. Anna Sibson has seven points coming from two goals and three assists. Lydia Holtmann and Courtney Neville are tied with Sibson for the team lead in assists. Holtmann and Neville each have a goal and three assists for a total of five points. Kyla Booker has a goal and two assists this season for four points. Layla Ashouri and Ali Engler each have goals this season. Marin Dregelid, Nyoke Dumba, Lauren Lawler each have one assist on the year. Haley Shelton has started 11 games in goal this season for Omaha. She has an overall record of and a 1.77 goals against average. She has made 60 saves on the year and holds a.741 save percentage. Shelton ranks third in the Summit League with 60 saves. Katlyn Schochenmaier has played in three games with two starts for the Mavs. She has a 1-1 overall record with a 1.91 goals against average. Schochenmaier has made 15 saves and a.750 save percentage. Meaghan Clark has started one game this year and is 0-1 on the season. She has a 2.64 goals against average and a.667 save percentage.

2 SCOUTING THE JACKRABBITS South Dakota State is led by Diana Potterveld who has six goals and ten assists for 22 points. Potterveld leads the Summit League in assists (10) and points (22). Teammates Shelby Raper and Alyssa Brazil each have five goals. Raper has added three assists, while Brazil has dished out two assists. Tori Poole and Madison Yueill each have chipped in two goals. Elisa Stamatakis and Nicole Inskeep have split time in goal this season for the Jackrabbits. Stamatakis has a record with one shut-out. She has a 1.44 goals against average and a.618 save percentage. Stamatakis ranks fifth in the Summit League in goals against (13) and goals against average (1.44). Inskeep is 2-3 on the season with a.621 save percentage. She also has a 2.60 goals against average. LAST TIME OUT DES MOINES, Iowa Omaha women s soccer played its fourth straight overtime game on Sunday afternoon against Drake University. Drake scored right before the end of the first overtime period to take a 2-1 victory. Omaha drops to on the season, while Drake improves to overall. Drake jumped out to an early lead off of a corner kick in the game s fifth minute. Rhian Pritchard knocked home her second goal of the season off a corner kick from Kasey Hurt. Layla Ashouri had a chance to tie the game up in the 26th minute, but goalkeeper Haley Morris pushed the scoring attempt wide. Courtney Neville had another scoring chance for Omaha in the 33rd minute, but Morris came up big again for the Bulldogs. Omaha came out on the offensive in the second half. Kyla Booker and Chelsi Rohloff each had shots in the first two minutes of the half. Omaha tied the match up at 1-1 in the 60th minute. Chelsi Rohloff intercepted a pass in the defensive third of the field and calmly slipped a shot past the Bulldog goalkeeper. Rohloff s goal was her ninth of the season. Each team would have a pair of chances to score the game winner before the end of regulation. Drake s Kayla Armstrong placed a shot past Omaha keeper Haley Shelton for the game winner at the 98:20 mark. Omaha was outshot by a margin. The Bulldogs also held a 9-5 margin in shots on goal. Goalkeeper Haley Shelton made seven saves on the afternoon for the Mavericks. UP NEXT Omaha will play their final two home games of the year next weekend. UNO will host Summit League foe Fort Wayne at Caniglia Field on Friday, October 24 at 7:00 p.m. The Mavs will play their last home game of the year on Sunday, October 26 against Oral Roberts at 12:00 p.m. OVERTIME WARRIORS Omaha has played in five overtime games this season. This is the most in program history. In fact, the past four UNO games have went to extra time. So far this year, the Mavs are in games that go into overtime. IN THE SUMMIT Chelsi Rohloff leads the Summit League with nine goals. Rohloff is in second place for total points with 20. Haley Shelton is third in the conference with 60 saves. As a team, the Mavericks are third in the conference with 19 goals scored and fourth in conference play with 16 assists. Omaha also sits in third place with 76 saves on the season. MAVERICKS HAND PIONEERS FIRST CONFERENCE LOSS Omaha s win over Denver on Sunday afternoon marked the first time Denver has lost in Summit League play since they joined the conference for the season. Last season, the Pioneers were the regular season and postseason tournament champions in the Summit League. DU did not drop a match in regular season or postseason play. ROHLOFF NAMED SUMMIT LEAGUE POW ELMHURST, Ill. Omaha s Chelsi Rohloff was named The Summit League s Women s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for her performances Sept. 29 Oct. 5. Rohloff collects her first career Offensive Player of the Week award after guiding Omaha to a week. She scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner in the second overtime period, in the Mavericks 3-2 win at Denver. UNO became the first league team to defeat the Pioneers since they joined The Summit League last season. The junior also contributed two shots in UNO s 0-0 draw at South Dakota. For the week, Rohloff scored two goals for four points with a.400 shot percentage. ROHLOFF EARNS COLLEGE SPORTS MADNESS ACCOLADES College Sports Madness has named Omaha Forward Chelsi Rohloff Summit Women s Soccer Player of the Week for her exceptional performance during the past week s action. College Sports Madness identifies the players who have made the greatest impact to their team from each conference and on a national basis each week. 3 WAMPLER AND LAWLER LEAD THE BACK LINE UNO s two Summit League postseason honorees in 2013 both came from the Maverick back line, and both will be back to lead the defense in Wampler earned All-Summit League second-team honors and Lawler was named to the All-Freshmen Team. Wampler and Lawler were instrumental in helping the Mavericks reduce their goals against average from 2.33 in 2012 to 1.81 in The Mavs also gave up 63 fewer shots last season than they did in EIGHT NEWCOMERS LOOKING TO MAKE IMPACT IN 2014 With the loss of eight letterwinners, including four starters, the Mavericks will turn to their incoming class for immediate production. Junior Kyla Booker should have a key role after playing two seasons at Creighton before transfering to UNO in the summer. Booker scored two goals last season and played in 16 matches, making three starts for the Bluejays. The American Canyon, Calif., native can play on both defense and the attack. Among the seven freshmen, Natalie Johnson is the only Nebraska recruit. Johnson was an all-state performer for Skutt Catholic, winning two state championships. Norwalk, Iowa native Katlyn Schochenmaier will add depth at goalkeeper, while Marin Dregelid (Santa Cruz, Calif.), Lydia Holtmann and Leah Lawler (St. Paul, Minn.) come into the program as midfielders. The Mavs also picked up 5-10 forward Izzy Anders from Fort Collins, Colo., giving the Mavs more size up top. Finally, Jessica Bollinger was a standout defender for Booker T. Washington High School in Tulsa, Okla., adding depth to the back line. MAVS PICKED EIGHTH IN SUMMIT PRESEASON POLL The Mavs were picked to finish eighth in the Summit League Preseason Poll. The poll is voted on by the league s head coaches. The Mavericks garnered 17 points. UNO returns eight starters and 14 letterwinners from last year s squad. Denver was selected to repeat as league champions with the maximum 64 points and eight first-place votes. The Pioneers, ranked No. 25 in the NSCAA/Continental Tire Preseason Poll, went a perfect in league play last season and advanced to their second straight NCAA Tournament. South Dakota State received the only other first-place vote - league coaches were not allowed to vote for their own teams - and finished second with 55 points. North Dakota State came in third with 48 points, while Oral Roberts was fourth with 42 points. Western Illinois (34), Fort Wayne (31) and IUPUI (19) came in fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively. UNO s 17 points edged out South Dakota s 14 points to round out the poll. LAST SEASON OF TRANSITION The 2014 season marks the final one that the Mavs will be unable to compete in the Summit League Championship and NCAA Tournament. As part of its transition to Division I, the Mavs had to sit out postseason play from to The top four teams in the league standings qualify for the Summit League Championship. FIFA AWARDS UNO SOCCER PITCH PRESTIGIOUS RATING The new University of Nebraska Omaha soccer pitch at Caniglia Field, installed by Hellas Construction, has received the prestigious FIFA Recommended 2-Star certification, the highest synthetic turf rating from FIFA, the international governing body of soccer. The Maverick soccer programs are now the only NCAA Division I teams that can call a FIFA 2-Star field their home, distinguishing Caniglia Field as the elite synthetic turf in Division I soccer. Only four synthetic turf fields in the U.S. currently hold the FIFA Recommended 2-Star certification, which lasts for one year but is eligible for a new test each year. Joining Al F. Caniglia Field among that elite group are CenturyLink Field (Seattle Sounders), Gillette Stadium (New England Revolution) and North Shore United soccer club in Cedarburg, Wis. The rating was issued after a series of tests performed by a FIFA approved testing agent to examine the quality, comfort, safety and performance of the playing surface. Caniglia Field features an infill that enhances stability, reduces the field temperature and creates more natural playing characteristics to help decrease the risk of injuries. The two-time national coach of the year led the Mavericks to the Division II national semifinals four times, culminating in the 2005 NCAA Division II national championship. With a young squad featuring many first-year players in the starting lineup, the Mavericks went to start the 2013 season before finishing overall and 1-6 in Summit League play. Of UNO s six losses to finish the season, four came by a goal or in overtime. Late in the season, the Mavericks debuted their newly renovated Caniglia Field, featuring one of the finest playing surfaces in the country. Hannah Wampler was an All-Summit League Second Team selection, and Lauren Lawler was an All-Freshmen Team member. Melanie McCormick earned Capital One Academic All-District honors. It is only fitting that Klosterman guides the Mavericks into the Division I Summit League after starting the program from scratch in He led the team from the Division II North Central Conference to the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association in While in the MIAA, Klosterman guided the Mavericks to a record of , and UNO made two more appearances in the NCAA Tournament. UNO made eight straight NCAA Tournament appearances from In 2005, the Mavericks became the first national collegiate soccer champions from the state of Nebraska when Brandie Beale scored in overtime to defeat Seattle Pacific, 2-1, ending a four-year journey back into the championship game after losing in At UNO, Klosterman has coached nine NSCAA All-Americans, one ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American, and one NCC Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year. A St. Louis, Mo., native, Klosterman holds a United States Soccer Federation A License and an NSCAA Advanced National License.
