2 VETERINARY SERVICES AT FAIR Attention 4-H and FFA members! In the event that you have an animal at the fair that requires the services of a veterinarian, you will need to contact him/her yourself and cover the expenses as needed. If necessary, the livestock office will be available for you to make your emergency phone calls and the superintendents will assist as best they can, but any services rendered to your animal, and the payment for those services, by any veterinarian will be your responsibility. Record Book Policy All Delta County 4-H members with general projects (those that are displayed in the exhibit hall) who do NOT bring an exhibit to the 2018 Delta County Fair will be required to turn in their record books on September 7, 2018, which is the same date that the livestock, horse, dog and shooting sports record books are due! The 70% completion requirement will apply to these books. In addition, general project members who do not participate in the 2018 Fair and fail to turn in their record book(s) will not be allowed to participate in those project(s) the following 4-H year. DELTA COUNTY FAIR SHOOT The 2018 Delta County Fair Shoot is scheduled for Saturday, July 21, 2018, at the 4-H Shooting Sports Range in Eckert. All shooting sports shooting events will be conducted on this day. You must pre-enter enter by 4:30 PM on July 6, 2018 and you must have met practice requirements to participate in the event! ALL Shooting Sports members must drop off their shooting sports record books at the Extension Office by 4:30 PM on September 7th when the other record books are due. WEIGH-IN TRAFFIC When bringing ALL animals to fair, we will be following the same traffic pattern that was used at weigh-in. You will go around behind the rodeo grounds and come along the Northwest side of the Event Center. Beef will be unloaded at the South end of the Event Center. Hogs, poultry, rabbits, and chickens will be unloaded by the alley between the Events Center and the old barn. Sheep, goats, and llamas will be unloaded on the Northwest side of the old barn. ALL TRAILERS will then exit along the side of the old barn back to the trailer parking area behind the Event Center. When unloading, all trailers are expected to be pulled out of the designated traffic flow lanes. Each 4-H Club or FFA Chapter will be allowed to park one trailer for feed and supplies in the designated parking areas near the livestock barns. In the event of another VS or similar outbreak, veterinarians or representatives of the Colorado Department of Ag will be stationed on the grounds beyond the camping area to inspect all necessary livestock prior to unloading. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

3 How to The Market Livestock Sale Committee is requiring both 4-H and FFA members who sell animals at the Delta County Fair to write a thank-you to their buy- get your ers in order to receive payment for their animals. Here are the details: fair sale Members are required to write a thank-you and provide an addressed and stamped envelope for check each thank-you written. Members must deliver thank-you cards to the Delta Extension Office. If you choose to mail your thank-you to the Extension Office, another stamped envelope must be enclosed for mailing to the buyer. The Delta Extension Office does not sell postage. Be sure to have postage on your thank-you prior to your arrival. The requirements above must be met in order for members to receive their sale check. Checks will not be available to ANYONE until 2 weeks after fair. All checks will be mailed to the exhibitor. If a thank you is not turned in by September 14th the member will not be allowed to show/sell any market species the following year. If your check needs to be replaced for any reason you will be charged $ It s our fair There are a number of major tasks that need extra hands let s all help during the County Fair: On Monday, out! tearing down the Horse Show panels and getting the barn ready for the steers is always a big job. We definitely need all the help we can get for that project. Setting up the alley for the Pig Show on Tuesday afternoon always requires help. The Pig Show on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning also requires lots of help. We are looking into new ways to speed up the sale of animals on Saturday and will need lots of help to set up the show ring on Saturday morning before the sale. The Delta County Fair is one of the biggest and best community events of the year. One of the main reasons it brings so much satisfaction to our community is precisely because it s run by volunteers. But like all good things worth doing, it requires a lot of work. The Fair Board and the superintendents work hard and volunteer their time all year to prepare for this event, but they need help to make sure everything that needs to be done gets done. Everyone that brings projects to the fair is most likely aware of whom the superintendents are for that particular project. We ask your cooperation to please contact the superintendents and Fair Board members to volunteer your time to help in whatever tasks need to be done. IT S OUR FAIR, LET S ALL HELP OUT!

8 Filling Out Pre-Entry Forms? Here s How: How to Fill Out Your 4-H Shooting Sports Pre-Entry Form: The shooting sports pre-entry form is for members who want to participate in the actual shooting event. Members need to write in all classes they wish to participate in at the Delta County Fair shoot on this sheet. You do not need different sheets for different disciplines. You will need a copy of the Delta County Fairbook for a list of classes. Members who want to participate in the Shooting Sports Premier Exhibitor contest need to mark the box on the Shooting Sports pre-entry form. Shooting Sports project members who wish to exhibit a display in Heritage Hall need to fill out a nonlivestock pre-entry form. This form is for all 4-H/FFA exhibitors who will have a display at the county fair. Displays are NOT required for members who are NOT participating in the Shooting Sports Premier Exhibitor contest. Shooting Sports Premier Exhibitor contest participants will need to fill out BOTH a non-livestock preentry form showing the specific class their required shooting sports display is in AND a shooting sports preentry form. Displays ARE required for members who elect to participate in this contest. Double & triple check to make sure you have all the necessary signatures on your form(s) before you turn it in. Forms without appropriate signatures will not be accepted. It is the responsibility of county fair shoot participants to make sure their Hunter Safety number is written in on the county fair shooting sports pre-entry form. Please be aware that forms that are turned in without this information will be returned to the participants for completion. How to Fill Out Your 4-H/FFA Non-livestock (Exhibit Hall) Pre-Entry Form: EACH exhibitor must fill out an entry sheet for EACH project type that is to be exhibited. Place all classes for that project on one sheet (i.e. all forestry on one sheet, all clothing on one sheet, all ceramics on one sheet, etc). You will need a copy of the Delta County Fairbook to get a list of classes. Clothing Construction and Fashion Revue should be on TWO different sheets! Double & triple check to make sure you have all the necessary signatures on the form before you turn it in. Forms without appropriate signatures will not be accepted. How to Fill Out Your Livestock (Exhibit Hall) Pre-Entry Form: EACH exhibitor must fill out an entry sheet for EACH project type that is to be exhibited. Place all classes for that project on the correct pre-entry form. (Beef on the beef form, sheep on the sheep form, etc ) The Showmanship classes, and Bred & Fed competitions must also be pre-entered. There are specific boxes on the forms to pre-enter these classes. Be sure to check your form to make sure you have filled all the classes you want to participate in completely. Please be aware that you will need a Delta County Fairbook in order to enter breeding classes. You will need to look up the appropriate Department/Section/Class numbers as well as the class names and enter these in the appropriate boxes on your pre-entry forms. Be sure to fill in the back of your form(s) with all the appropriate information and signatures. Double & triple check to make sure you have all the necessary signatures on BOTH sides of the form before you turn it in. Forms without appropriate signatures will not be accepted.
