1 February 1, 2016 Sampson County Center Southeast District 4-H Horse Bowl Contest the University of Mount Olive Sampson County 4-H Horse Bowl team competed at the District Horse Bowl Contest on Saturday, January 30th. Big congrats to the team for their success! Sampson County placed 3rd Overall, and 4-Hers Julie Gore placed 4th and Megan Merritt place 3rd overall in the Mixed Division! Great job! 4-H Public Speaking/Dramatic Reading Workshop February 18, the 4-H Extension Office from 6:00-8:00pm Must register by February 12th On Thursday, February 18th a workshop is being held to give youth guidance and ideas to improve their communication skills for public speaking and dramatic reading. This is a workshop designed to help youth research their subject, organize their ideas and practice and develop their public speaking skills. Please call Cindy at or by cindy_nance@ncsu.edu if you would like to attend. 4-H Bunny Bowl & Show February 20, the Livestock Facility 10:00am Must register by February 5th On Saturday, February 20th the H Bunny Bowl & Show will be held at the

2 Sampson County Livestock Facility. Bunny Bowl divisions will consist of breed ID, anatomy, judging, and showmanship. You may bring your own rabbit, but not required. Rabbit Show will begin directly following Bunny Bowl. Please call Rob Richardson at or to register or for more information Eastern Carolina 4-H Livestock Showmanship Clinic March 5-6, 2016 in Rocky Mount, NC Entries must be submitted by Friday, February 26 This event provides youth and adults an opportunity to learn more about 4-H Livestock projects from start to finish. A mixture of intense classroom and hands-on activities will equip individuals with information needed to have a quality 4-H Livestock project. If you are interested in participating please call the 4-H office at or by daniel_collins@ncsu.edu, elizabeth_rowe@ncsu.edu or cindy_nance@ncsu.edu. 4-H Clover Classic Livestock Show & Skillathon March 19 & 20, 2016 in Winston-Salem, NC Entries due to Forsyth County 4-H by Monday, February 29th The Clover Classic 4-H Livestock Show will be held March 19 (beef cattle) and 20 (meat goats and sheep) at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds. Showmanship and a skill-a-thon will take place both days. Exhibitor entry form AND an entry form for each animal is to be completed. You will also need to mail a check to Forsyth County 4-H postmarked by Monday, February 29th. There is a public speaking/dramatic reading workshop being held on Thursday, February 18th at the livestock facility. 3 SAVE THE DATE! Saturday, April 16th from 10am - Cooperative Extension & Livestock Facility On Saturday, April 16th, Cooperative Extension will host our famously popular Ag Day! This event will be held at Cooperative Extension and the Livestock Facility located on Highway 421 south of Clinton. This event is free and open to the public. Fun and learning for the whole family! Some of the activities to look forward to are barnyard critters, farm equipment, cooking demonstrations, live entertainment, and lots more!
