5 One Tuesday night, at the University of Cincinnati Recreation Center, I was running on a treadmill and was doing a mile cool down after my three mile run. All of a sudden I collapsed and went into sudden cardiac arrest. I received 13 minutes of CPR and two shocks with the AED before the ambulance arrived. I then got two more shocks which got my heart beating again. I stayed in the hospital for two weeks receiving many tests, getting an internal defibrillator/pacemaker and recovering from the arrest and collapsed lung. Since then I have had several surgeries, procedures and other tests, but the doctors are still not sure why this happened to me. I still workout on a daily basis and like to keep my heart healthy. The Heart Mini is a great way to do that and come together with thousands of people to raise awareness for heart health. I love seeing so many survivors and other families raising money to fight heart disease and stroke.
