1 Lady Warrior Track and Field Expectations and Information Thank you for deciding to be a part of the Lady Warrior 2017 Track and Field Team!! The first week will be try-outs. We will keep around five girls per event, but we will only take the top three in each event to the meet with us and an alternate for the relays. Not only do you have to be in the top three, but we also look at behavior on and off the track and overall effort on and off the track. You must also be passing all your classes. Track season in junior high is only six weeks. Our goal is to get you ready to compete at the high school level. You must come to practice prepared and focused. We will do our best to put you in the events we feel you will be most successful at. Practice Attire: The same as athletics. Tights must be worn with shorts over the top. NO JEWELRY Long Distance and Throwers do not needs spikes. Sprinters, long, high and triple jumpers will need spikes. * NO CELL PHONES ON THE TRACK Time: Practice starts at. Meet at the HS Track, Drop off bags by the shed, and warm-up A missed practice or showing up late to a practice will need to be made up and will result in not going to the meet, with the exception of school related events. We only have a few practices and missing one day may result in another girl taking your spot. Everyone will warm-up together. A. Sprinters/High Jump (Coach Washington) B. Long Distance/Throwers (Coach Osborne) Mid-Distance will switch between A and B C. Hurdlers/Long and Triple (Coach Wolfe) * Relays/hand offs will be decided on and worked on during athletics. Please let your coach know ahead of time if you are not going to be at practice. All missed practices will be made up. Practice must be made up before the next meet. Effort: There is a very limited amount of time to prepare for the track meets. Any athlete with a lack of effort or focus in practice will be dismissed.

2 TRACK MEETS ONLY THOSE COMPETEING IN AN EVENT WILL GO WITH US TO THE MEETS. * As coaches we make every effort to be at as many events as possible, but there are only three of us. Having to run an event at the meet also prevents us from being at an event to coach. There are some meets that there will not be a coach at your event. All athletes must know how to prepare for their event and be willing to help their teammates prepare. * ALL MEETS START AT WITH FIELD EVENTS. ORDER AND LIST OF EVENTS ATTACHED We will be leaving school early to get to the meets on time. Students will be responsible for all work missed. Meet days will be a long day for your child. Please make sure they have a snack and water or bring money for the concessions. Some meets may not have concessions. Meet Expectations: 1. ONLY those competing are allowed on the field. Parents are to stay in the stands. Athletes are to stay in the stand with THE TEAM until it is their turn to compete 2. Athletes are to ride the bus to and from the meet. If they do need to leave early the attached early release form needs to be filled out AHEAD of time. 3. Athletes are to always go with a teammate (restroom, concessions, etc.) They are never allowed to go somewhere by themselves. 4. Athletes are responsible for checking into their event on time and getting prepared. 5. CLEAN UP OUR AREA. We will not leave a meet until our area in the stands are clean. 6. In the stands you are expected to cheer on the other athletes. COMMUNICATION: Listed below are the coach s. Please feel free to us. We will get back to you as soon as possible. The best way to communicate will be through REMIND. Instructions on how to sign up are attached. We will use remind to notify you about meet and practice cancelations or times.
