1 THE WISCONSIN LITTLE TEN CONFERENCE TRACK AND FIELD RELAY CHAMPIONSHIPS Updated June 2014 hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran High School Milwaukee, WI Wisconsin Lutheran is proud to host the Little Ten Conference Track and Field Relay Championships this year. The Wisconsin Little Ten Boys and Girls Relay Championship Plan Book is presented for the benefit of member schools, the news media, and other interested parties. Included within it is background information, the organizational plan for this year's Championship Relay Meet and other related information. The WLTC trusts you will find the Plan Book a useful reference in preparing for the (year) WLT Track and Field Relay Championships. The following day, May 8 th, Meet Entries a. Meet information on the meet should be sent out two weeks prior to the meet. Entries should be submitted online the day prior to the meet. Coaches are asked to come to the storage shed before 3pm to verify names in each event, both participants and alternates. They needed to declare which 6 runners were available for each running relay, and which 3 athletes were competing in each field event relay. When running relays check in, they can specify which four of the six names listed are actually running. The coach s meeting starts at 3:15pm. Due by 8:00pm on Wednesday, May 6 th, Entries will be made via Info on how to do this is online on the ENTRIES PAGE of Please allow yourself time to familiarize yourself with the procedures for using athletic.net. b. The following limitations on number of entries will be in effect for the Relay Championship Meet: In each relay event, one relay team per school is allowed. A competitor may compete in any four (4) events, but in a maximum of three (3) running events or a maximum of three (3) field events. If a competitor exceeds the individual participation limitations, individual points, team points and place(s) earned by that competitor in the event(s) beyond the maximum permitted, shall be forfeited. Running relay entries should list 6 competitors for each event. Field event entries should list 3 competitors for each event. 2. Scoring a. The meet will be scored 10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 for all events. (8 Places) 3. Awards a. In accordance with the WLT By-Laws, awards will be presented as follows: Individual Awards: 1st - Medals Team Awards: Trophy to Team Champion b. Awards will be distributed in envelopes during the meet and given to the head coach at the conclusion. c. The team awards will be presented at the conclusion of the meet. 2

3 4. Rules a. The meet will be governed by the current National Federation Edition of Track and Field Rules, with adjustments and modifications outlined in the Plan Book, or through the Wisconsin Little Ten. b. A competitor may compete may in any four (4) events, but in a maximum of three (3) running events or a maximum of (3) field events. Unless the individual competes, being listed as a member of a relay team does not count as an event. c. If a competitor exceeds the individual participation limitations, individual points, team points and place(s) earned by that competitor in the event(s) beyond the maximum permitted shall be forfeited. d. Time limit for excused competitor: Competitors excused to compete in another event have a maximum of 15 minutes from the time they are called up for their attempt, until they must make themselves available for their next trial. e. Personal audio equipment with headphones is acceptable. f. Any competition interrupted because of adverse weather must be continued from the point of interruption. All trials and marks made up to the point of suspension or moving a field event indoors must stand. 5. Admissions (Suggested) Adults: $4 Students/Senior Citizens: $2 Pre-K: Free b. News media Meet workers Track Coaches and spouses 6. Track Uniforms a. Track and Field Uniforms\Equipment for the Wisconsin Little Ten Championships will be governed by the "Track & Field/Cross Country Uniform/Equipment Regulations" for that given season. This document is distributed at the rules Interpretation meeting. b. If a school is not able to issue one standard uniform to participating athletes due to budget constraints, this matter is to be brought to the WLT ADs for a waiver (to the WIAA/NF uniform rule) prior to the day of the meet. 7. Meet Officials a. The Executive Secretary of the WLT will hire all necessary meet officials. The host school will pay these officials and will be reimbursed, upon request, by the WLT treasurer. 8. Programs a. All programs produced for spectators and coaches will contain WLT Track and Field records. 3

4 9. Results a. Results will be available 30 seconds after the conclusion of the meet. These results should contain all results of individual efforts in the field events and the 300 hurdle relays, as well as team times and distances in each event. Results will be posted at Running Event a. The Relays should be timed with a FAT system. FAT timing is optional for 6400 R, DM, 3200 R. b. Girls running events first, followed by boys. c. The Meet Director shall determine the lanes as follows: d. All events are established via seed times, heights and distances. d. The 3X100H/3X110H races are run in 3 heats as a relay event, with an empty lane between competing schools. e. Only flats or spikes which do not exceed (1/4 inch) in length as measured from the sole of the shoe to the tip of the spike will be allowed. Star type spikes are prohibited. f. Each team shall provide its own relay baton. Meet management will provide stating blocks for all competitors, except for those using the standing start technique. Schools are allowed to bring their own starting blocks, as long as those blocks do not require modification of the track. g. The Distance Medley races should use a 3 turn stagger starting line. 11. Field Events a. Field Event order is to be set as per WIAA Tournament Series. b. The athletes in the SP & DT will be seeded by school. Boys and girls will throw opposite so that they are not throwing at the same time in different events. There will be a 15 min warm up period between flights. Each athlete will have 4 throws. Each athlete must take two throws on each of their two entries into the circle. There will be a 20 minute break between the SP/DT events. d. The competition in the PV and HJ will be seeded by performance. e. Two HJ pits will be used simultaneously for the boys and girls high jump if possible. Opening Heights: BHJ - 5'0"; GHJ - 4'0"; BPV - 9'0"; GPV-7 0. These opening heights may be adjusted by games committee due to bad weather. The pole vault should have the bar raised at one foot increments until six competitors remain, at which time it should be raised at 6 increments. In the PV, competitors must take 3 jumps in a row until only 6 athletes remain. After only 6 remain, athletes may go 2 and 1. In the HJ, the 5 alive format will be used. f. Long and Triple Jumps- Each athlete will have 4 attempts. 75 minute open pit. There will be a 20 minute warm up period between boys and girls events. g. Each team should provide its own legal shot, discus and vaulting poles. Any shot or discus that is to be used in competition must be measured and marked by meet officials. Only implements that are marked may be used in the competition. All contestants must use only properly weighted, measured 4

5 and marked implements for actual competition. All vaulting poles must be properly marked. 12. Directions Good Luck. Open roads, ramps, & lanes change by the hour. Leave early. Watertown Plank Road exits and on ramps are now fully open if you come from the north. On good days, 84 th Street exit ramp is open. Most days, we have no clue. 13. Concessions Concessions will be available during the meet. 14. Rest Rooms On site, fully stocked. 15. T-Shirts T-shirts will be on sale for $10. Sizes: Small through 52-Portly. 16.
