1 The 15 th of Sha bān 15 th Night of Sha ban This is a very blessed night. It is known as Night of Barā ah, meaning becoming free of sins. According to a Hadith of Imam Ja far al-sādiq (a), it is the best night after Laylatul Qadr. Allah sends down His grace on His creatures, and forgives them their sins. The importance of this night is increased by the fact that the Imam of our time, Imam Muhammad al-mahdi (a) was born on this night. The following are recommended on this night: a) Du ā of Kumayl b) Reciting Sūrat Yāsīn (#36) 3 times. For: i) Long life ii) Safety against misfortunes iii) Protection against sudden death c) Ziyarah of Imam Husayn (a). A maal for the 15 th Night of Sh aban The following A māls (1-9) for this night have been extracted from Mafātihul Jinān, but are not in the same order. Ghusl after sunset Tasbīh Say 100 times: س ب ح ان ه للا و ال ح م د ل ل ه و ال ا ل ه ا اله ه للا و ه للا ا ك ب ر Glory be to Allah, all Praise is for Allah there is no god but Allah and He is the Greatest

2 ا ل ئ After Ishā prayers, recite four rakā at Salāt in units of two rakā at each. In each rak ah after Sūratul Fātiha, recite 100 times Sūratul Ikhlās (10 time if you wish to shorten it). Then recite the following Du ā: ا للهه هم ا ن ي ا ل ي ك ف قير و م ن ع ذا بك خائ ف م س ت ج ير ا للهه هم ال ت ب د ل س م ي و ال ت غ ير ج س م ي و ال ت ج ه د ب ل ي و ال ت ش م ت ب ث ن اؤ ك ا ن ت ك ما ا ث ن ي ت ع ل ى ن ف س ك و ف و ق ماي ق و ال قائ ل و ن م ن ك ج هل ي ا ع دا ئ ي O Allah, I stand in need of You, and am fearful of Your punishment, seeking refuge O Allah, do not change my name, nor alter my body, nor try me with a severe trial and make not my enemies rejoice (at my failures) I seek refuge in Your forgiveness from Your punishment, in Your mercy from Your chastisement in Your pleasure from Your anger, and in You from You Great is Your Praise, You are the way You have praised Yourself, above what is said by the speakers. Recite the following Du ā 21 times for safety during the year: ب س م ه للا ال هرح م ن ال هرح ي م ا للهه هم ا هنك ع ظ ي م ذ و ا ن اة و ال ط اق ة ل نا ل ح ك م ك ي ا للا ه ي ا للا ه ي ا للا ه ا ال م ان ا ال م ان اال م ا ن م ن ال هطاع و ن و ال و ب ا ء و م و ة ال ف ج أ ة و س و ء ال ق ض اء و ش م ات ة اال ع د ا ء ر هبن ا اك ش ف ع هنا ال ع ذ اب ا هنا م ؤ م ن و ن O Allah, You are Mighty, of patience and perseverance and we have no strength to bear Your judgment. He (the Imam) is the sword of Allah which does not miss (its target) the light of God which cannot be conceale d the possessor of forbearance who does not act improperly the pivot of age, the confidant of time, the authority of the affairs which descends

4 م with the angels on the night of Qadr among those who [matter] in the Day of Gathering and Resurrection (those who) interpret His revelation, guide towards His commands, and forbidden laws O Allah, bless their seal, the one who will rise among them, who is hidden form their cosmos O Allah, make us reach his days, his appearance, and his rising, cause us to be among his helpers join our struggle (to achieve truth) with his struggle Include us among his supporters and sincere friends give us life in his reign, so that we receive the bounties benefit from his company rise for his rightful (struggle) and are safe from evil O the most merciful of the Merciful All praise is for Allah the Lord of the worlds May His blessings be on Muhammad, the seal of the Prophets and Messengers and upon his family the Truthful, and the articulate progeny curse all the oppressors and judge between us and them O the best of all the Judges. 5 For You is Glory and Excellence, Praise and Grace, Generosity and Honor For You is the order, and Magnificence and Gratitude You are alone, there is no partner for You O One, O Absolute One O He who has not given birth nor was He born, and there is none equal to Him. Bless Muhammad and his family and forgive me, have mercy on me and suffice for me what is important to me, fulfill my debts and increase my sustenance, for surely on this night every affair is decreed and You provide sustenance to whoever You please from Your creation, so provide for me for You are the best of providers You have said, and You are the best of those who say and utter and ask Allah from His bounty so I ask You from Your bounty and You alone I seek and on the son of Your Prophet I lean in You I have hope so have mercy on me O most merciful of the Merciful ones. Recite the following Dua O Allah, grant us a part of Your fear that acts as a barrier between us and Your disobedience and [grant us] Your obedience that helps us achieve Your pleasure and the certainty that makes the miseries of the world seem insignificant ا للهه هم اق س م م ن خ ش ي ت ك ما ي ح ول ب ي ن نا و ب ي ن م ع ص ي ت ك و م ن ط اع ت ك ما ت ب لغ نا ب ه ر ض وان ك و م ن ال ي قين ما ي ه و ن ع ل ي نا ب ه م صي بات الد ن يا ا للهه هم ا م ت ع نا ب ا س ماع نا و ا ب صار نا و ق هوت نا ما ا ح ي ي ت نا و اج ع ل ه ال و ار ث م هنا واج ع ل ثا ر نا ع ل ى م ن ظ ل م نا و ان ص ر نا ع ل ى م ن عا دا نا و ال ت ج ع ل م صيب ت نا ف ي د ين نا و ال ت ج ع ل الد ن يا ا ك ب ر ه م نا و ال م ب ل غ ع ل م نا و ال ت س ل ط ع ل ي نا م ن ال ي ر ح م نا ب ر ح م ت ك ي ا ا ر ح م ال هراح م ي ن

6 O Allah, make us enjoy our hearing our sight our strength so long as You keep us alive make us rise against those who oppress us and help us against those who show animosity to us place not our miseries in our religion. and let not this world be our biggest concern nor the extent of our knowledge and do not appoint over us one who has no mercy on us by Your mercy, O the most merciful of the Merciful ones Recite the following Dua ا ل ه ي ت ع هرض ل ك ف ي هذ اللهي ل ال م ت ع رض ون و ق ص د ك ال قاص د و ن و ا همل ف ض ل ك و م ع ر و ف ك ال هطال ب و ن و ل ك ف ي هذ ا الل ي ل ن ف ح ات و ج وائ ز و ع طا يا و م واه ب ت م ن ب ها ع ل ى م ن ت شا ء م ن ع باد ك و ت م ن ع ه ا م ن ل م ت س ب ق ل ه ال ع ناي ة م ن ك و ها ا ن ا ذا ع ب ي د ك ال ف ق ير ا ل ي ك ال م ؤ مل ف ض ل ك و م ع ر و ف ك ف ا ن ك ن ت يا م وال ي ت ف هضل ت في هذ ه اللهي ل ة ع ى ل ا ح د م ن خ ل ق ك و ع د ت ع ل ي ه ب عائ د ة م ن ع ط ف ك ف ص ل ع ل ى م ح همد هوآ ل م ح همد ال هطي ب ين ال هطاه ر ين ال خ ي ر ين ال فاض ل ي ن و ج د ع ل هي ب ط ول ك و م ع ر وف ك يا ر هب ال عال م ي ن و ص لهى للا ع ل ى م ح همد خ ات م ال هنبي ين و آل ه ال هطاه ر ين و س لهم ت س ل يما ا هن للا ح م يد م ج يد ا للهه هم ا ن ي ا د ع و ك ك ما ا م ر ت ف اس ت ج ب ل ي ك ما و ع د ت ا هنك ال ت خ ل ف ال م ي عا د O Allah, on this night, the seekers have sought You, the aspirers have aspired for You the searchers have hoped for Your blessings and Grace. For You have, on this night hidden bounties rewards, presents, and gifts which You bestow upon whom You please from Your servants and You deny them to one who has not reached Your regard Here I am Your abject servant, in need of You, hopeful of Your Blessings and Grace so O my Master, if You bestow blessings, on this night, on anyone of Your creatures and turn to him with affection then bless Muhammad and his family, the pure, the purified, the virtuous, the excellent and favor me with Your bounty O Lord of the worlds O Allah, bless Muhammad, the seal of the Prophets and his family, the purified ones (and send) a perfect salutation surely Allah is Praiseworthy, Glorious O Allah I have supplicated to You as You have commanded so answer me as You have promised surely You do not break Your promises (3:194)

7 م The following Du ā is recommended in Sajdah س ج د ل ك س و ا د و م اج ن ي ت ه ع لى ا غ ف ر ل ي ال ع ظ ي و خ يال ي و آم ن ب ك ف ؤا د ي هذ ه ي دا ي ن ف س ي يا ع ظ يم ت ر جى ل ك ل ع ظ يم يم ف ا هن ه ال ي غ ف ر ال هذن ب ال ع ظ ي م إ ال ال هرب ال ع ظ ي My being and my mind have prostrated for You and my heart has believed in You These are my hands and the sins I have committed against myself O Mighty, from whom every great thing is hoped forgive me the mighty sins for none can forgive the mighty sins except the Mighty Lord. Raise your head from Sajdah. Go again into Sajdah and say: ا ع و ذ ب ن ور و ج ه ك اله ذ ي ا ضاء ت ل ه ال هس ما وات و اال ر ض و ن وان ك ش ف ت ل ه الظ ل م ات و ص ل ح ع ل ي ه ا م ر اال هول ي ن و اال خ ر ين م ن ف ج أ ة ن ق م ت ك و م ن ت ح و يل عاف ي ت ك و م ن ز و ال ن ع م ت ك ا للهه هم ار ز ق ن ي ق ل با ت ق ي ا ن ق ي ا و م ن الشر ك ب ريا ال كاف را و ال ش ق يا I seek refuge in the light of Your countenance by which the heavens and the earth have been illuminated, the darkness has been removed, the affairs of the first and last ones have been improved (I seek refuge) from Your sudden punishment changing of good health, and removal of Your blessings. O Allah, grant me a heart which is pious, pure, disassociated from polytheism not disbelieving nor unfortunate Place both cheeks on Sajdagah and say: ي ع هفر ت و ج ه ف ي الت راب و ح هق ل ي ا ن ا س ج د ل ك I have placed my face on sand and it is Your right on me that I prostrate for You.
