Let s get out on the water. Our spring break and adult learn to sail programs are a huge success. Great to see new faces out on the boats. April 9th is opening day, come on out, shake out the wrinkles on those sails and get your boat blessed and have some good tasting BBQ. If you see a new face on the docks or on the grounds greet them with a smile and ask how they are doing, invite them to our Friday night dinner or to participate in our Saturday fun races. We still need volunteers for Friday night dinners, see the calendar by the front door bulletin board. Now, what's in the future, what lies ahead? It seems that our priorities should include the encouragement of volunteerism, participation and the Corinthian Spirit, and the inclusion and acceptance of new ideas and members. Our Legacy to future members and the future of our club depend on it. The only way to keep dues down is to increase membership, and we are well on our way. The increase to raise dues and berthing rates was voted on back in This was done after much consideration and discussion. It is not taken lightly by the board. The formula for keeping dues down is to increase membership. How do we increase membership while still maintaining the tenants of our club? Doing what you love, whether it be racing cruising, family participation, junior Programs-all of these are what the Stockton Sailing Club is about. Our winner of the T-Shirt was Club Treasurer, Diane Hougland who correctly identified the vessel to the left as an Olympic Monotype. Sail Camp Registration Opens April 1st This week long camp fills rapidly with kids from Santa Cruz, Richmond, Stockton and others. The camp is restricted to about 80 kids so if you want to join the best sailing camp in the country you need to register NOW. Stockton Sailing Club 4980 Buckley Cove Way. 3 Stockton Sailing Club s Spring Forward with Seahorse Power By Becky Mich, Harbormaster 3/24/2016 Spring: to move forward suddenly Seahorse: vulnerable to extinction Yes, these are the quotable-s that arise from precious Novice Youth Learn to Sail Spring Break Sessions! SSC launches these Novice Sailors into a lifelong love of sailing! The next generation is on board and we have a waiting list for classes! How exciting! Thank you SSC and Department of Boating and Waterways Grants for such a generous program. It is because of SSC member leadership that this program is so very successful now for decades! The tradition continues. As a call to action, the Board voted recently to support a Trial membership of $25/month for 6 months as a membership drive. This is to assure we as a club do not become vulnerable to extinction. Not unlike many marina s, we too have experienced a reduction in membership over the years. Recently, due to the overwhelming community interest likely driven by our Channel 10 News Broadcasts, social media platforms, inaugural Learn To Sail Spring Break Sessions for both adults and children, and most importantly the buzz that members have created through sharing their personal heartfelt ownership of the club. Please do continue to invite your friends and family to experience this rich sailing culture. We have experienced a surge of new members 25 new members in 6 months and 50 students in just a few short weeks of Spring Break Sailing Sessions. In addition, we have had interaction with over 6000 Facebook hits. We were recently broadcast on Channel 10 news with Amy Carabba for the 5, 6, and 9 o clock hours. We are just starting to spring forward suddenly in development of seahorse power visibility in our community. 5 SSC Regatta The mission of Youth Learn to Sail is to provide high quality boating safety programs for the community through education, recreation and competition. Learn to Sail develops the love of sailing in young people by making boats, time and expertise available with adequate financial support, while teaching proper boat handling, good sportsmanship, and encouraging innovation in all aspects of sailing. Sailing Experience Sailors need to be 8-18 years of age and be able to swim The racing season is finally here and the action has been fantastic. SSC Spring Series, which is the largest series of the season, started out a little slow with fluky winds and a little rain. The action on the course really heated up in the Etchells class with the Canapa/Gibson team prevailing. Team Jim Painter on Bottom Line dominated the A division. With B division being led by Mike Kennedy on Brass Monkey and C division s Richard Wright leading with Cygnus X-1. In addition to the Spring series there are a lot of other races during the year. All of these specialty races have no entry fee to encourage the newer racers to join in. There are Fun Races being held on Saturdays designed with shorter courses. Other specialty races include Short Handed, Long Distance and full crew races. Beginning in June there are Wednesday night fun races starting around 6 PM and usually finishing before 8 PM. Some races even have food afterwards. However, once the novelty of day sailing wears off, they find that racing is more stimulating than day sailing. They also notice how much fun the racers are having! So eventually they overcome their fear of looking foolish and enter their first race. After they discover that racing is not difficult (only winning is) they realize how much zest and excitement have been added to their day's sailing pleasure. In addition, they discover they have acquired a whole group of new friends who enjoy the camaraderie that exists between friendly competitors. With this in mind, we have prepared a Beginner's Guide to Racing to help you get started. You can download your copy free from our SSC website under On the Water Page 5

6 UNAPPROVED BOARD MINUTES-March 8, 2016 CALL TO ORDER: The SSC Commodore, Burt Mohr, called the meeting to order at 18:30. A quorum was declared. Attendees: William Humphreys, Vice Commodore; Richard Wright, Rear Commodore; Kitty Gutierrez, Secretary; Diane Hougland, Treasurer; Marvin McDougal, Port Captain; Linda Buck, Director; Pat Felten, Director; Jim Bertilacchi, Director; Jill Humphreys, Director, Gary Eggert, Past Commodore; Becky Mich, Harbormaster. Absent: None Guests: Past Commodore, Pat Brown, Chris Shepherd, Past Commodore, Jim Hachman, and Reggie Stone 1) Standing Business a) Approve March agenda Motion to approve March agenda: Eggert / Hougland M/S/P b) Approve the February minutes Motion to approve February minutes: Wright / McDougal M/S/P c) Member and Guest comments: Past Commodore Jim Hachman informed the Board, although he had not been able to be more involved with the SSC as he previously had been that he was now in a position where he could be more engaged and offer his knowledge, experience, and advice as a member and as Past Commodore. Through his own observations and conversations, Past Commodore Hachman voiced his concerns regarding the adherence to Bylaws, Policy & Procedures, the operation of the SSC, and the financial health of the club. He provided examples of the financial report showing we are in the red this year, a few weeks ago of encountering someone he did not know at the SSC, who introduced himself as the event planner and that our committee system is operating somewhat questionably. Also, a man he knows well from the SSC had his boat moved in the harbor, it was connected to shore power and the solar panels positioned to charge his batteries. After his boat was moved and berthed elsewhere, the electric was not reconnected, the bilge pump was not functioning properly, causing water to accumulate to a level that he had to file a claim with his insurance company. It was determined his boat was totaled beyond the cost of repairs. Commodore Mohr informed Past Commodore Hachman that the SSC was aware of this member s claim for damages and it was being addressed. Commodore Mohr reported when the boats were moved, the boat owners were notified several times and told they had the option of moving their own boats. He understood the electricity had been reconnected after the boats were moved. Commodore Mohr invited Past Commodore Hachman to run for a Board position again, which he is considering. Vice Commodore, Wm. Humphreys disagreed with Commodore Mohr in that he had between 7 and 10 members contact him directly to advise their boats were not plugged in to the shore electric after they were moved in the harbor and that they had no notice their boats were going to be moved. Vice Commodore Wm. Humphreys believed that we as a club did not do this job well enough. He recommended that not only those members on E-dock get an apology, but that all members of the SSC receive an apology regarding the handling of this matter. Commodore Mohr agreed and will be apologizing to the SSC Membership. Past Commodore, Pat Brown told the Board he was here as Commodore when the SSC made a huge expansion. He would like to become more involved now since he and his wife, Marilyn moved back to this area and is open to helping. He has concerns as to how the Board is following policy and procedures, particularly as relates to the fee increase governed by Article 3, Section 6, that reads, The Board of Directors may determine the amount monthly dues payable to the corporation by members Changes to initiation fees, membership dues and any other fees shall be read at two board meetings prior to a vote and shall require a two-thirds vote of the Board of Directors. After the first reading before the Board of Directors, the proposed changes shall be published in the Club newsletter. If approved by the Board of Directors, the proposed fee changes shall be adopted. A schedule of revised fees shall be published in the minutes and posted in the Clubhouse. Other concerns include being over budget by $62,000, he questions if we followed the budget guidelines in accordance with Article 3, Sections 4 and 5 and did the Board agree to all expenditures that happened. He is concerned with purchases being made without following procedure. Past Commodore Brown had several people welcome him back and told him they wanted to get fun back in the club again. Rear Commodore Wright welcomed Past Commodore Brown back and is glad that he wishes to re-engage with the club. Member Chris Shepherd voiced his concern that the Board was not following the Bylaws regarding the fee increase, that the increase must be voted upon here in the board room. He reviewed the March 2015 Minutes and there was no reference to the fee increase being voted upon in those Minutes. Member Shepherd reiterated the Bylaw affecting any fee increase and believes the Board needs to review how this was handled and that it be corrected. Member Reggie Stone introduced himself to the Board and that he has been a member about 16 years or more. Member Stone stated he has concerns the Bylaws are not being followed and that there is a group within the Board that just does as it pleases. Member Stone has a concern that committees come up with their ideas, but do not bring the ideas to the Board for approval. Member Stone advised the Board that he has always paid his bill through the mail and has never been approached so rudely as the Harbormaster had, as though she caught him stealing from the club. Member Stone did not know from where this came and felt he was not respected as a member. He felt backed in and believed he was owed an apology, told the Harbormaster he was owed an apology and believes something should be placed in her file so that it can be reviewed in the future, if needed. Commodore Mohr explained that since Stone was reporting this at the Board Meeting, it would be documented in the Minutes. Member Stone mentioned concerns about live-a-boards, all the new rules and is the rule, that after 3 days a person pays $10. If that were the case, then he has no problem with this rule. But to be approached in the manner he was by the Harbormaster and asked, I want to know when you are going to come to the Harbormaster s office and settle up your bill. There was never any communication in the newsletter, never anything, he has never been arrears, and has always paid timely. Commodore Mohr told Member Stone he was sorry his feelings were hurt. Member Stone told Commodore Mohr he did not have to take that and not to belittle him here. Commodore Mohr said he was not belittling him and agreed with Member Stone that he was a member in good standing. d) Treasurer s report: Treasurer Hougland pointed out there is one item in the Profit & Loss (P/L) for February 2016, you will see a negative number in the galley costs, journaled for the purchase of the stoves, that was incorrectly charged to the cost of goods sold/galley, instead of being expensed to the appropriate expense account. This was corrected and is why February 2016 P/L shows a negative expense. Director J. Humphreys advised the February balance sheet did not have last year s numbers for comparison. Treasurer Hougland advised she had inadvertently omitted it when she made copies. Directly J. Humphreys inquired about a purchase for $18,000 under line item 1880, Machinery & Equipment. Treasurer Hougland advised this was for the purchase of an inflatable boat and put into the depreciation schedule of fixed assets in March of 2015 and it was purchased from the Grant Money. Vice Commodore Wm. Humphreys inquired if there was separate accounting for Learn to Sail and/or the grant money or is it all combined in our budget. Treasurer Hougland advised that it is combined in our regular financials and she hopes that they would start some kind of a fund accounting to have this set out, but currently it is not done that way. Vice Commodore Wm. Humphreys inquired about Learn to Sail, as i.e. things covered by Grant Monies and does it also cover Adult Learn to Sail. Treasurer Hougland confirmed Adult Learn to Sail is included under the Grant Monies. Vice Commodore Wm. Humphreys understood that the SSC received a 2 year grant for $35,000 and do we know if we spent more money from last year s grant money or if this year the budget is from club money or will the funds remain within the grant money. Treasurer Hougland explained there is some income and expense built in for the Learn to Sail program, which is directly related to what the club earns and spends. The grant was not included in the budget. Because the way the grant funding works, we have to expend the monies first, invoice the state and then get reimbursement from the state up to the amount of the grant. We are waiting for the State to come through with money invoiced to them, she did not have the dollar amount, but it was money granted to us in 2013 that was not spent for some reason. Finally, the State did the paperwork and we purchased a boat. So there was money that has been invoiced and due us going against the 2013 grant and some money that went against the 2014 grant. Treasurer Hougland hopes once this is cleared up and we get the 2013 and 2014 grant money in, that the new grant, covering 2 years, will invoiced to DBW as we incur the expenses as they happen to avoid having left over grant money. Past Commodore Eggert advised of a problem in the past was that we waited too long to invoice expenses, which was an expense for the club until we were reimbursed. Director J. Humphreys inquired under Income & Expense, item # 4450 on the P/L for February 2016 shows Sail Camp Income but it does not show the expenses and do we know how much we spend for Sail Camp. Treasurer Hougland advised this was not detailed on this particular report because it does not capture the subaccounts, but we do have accounting for that and she could provide that detailed report if requested. Vice Commodore Wm. Humphreys inquired that after reviewing what we took in last month, there was a large amount of money in our checking account. Can any of this offset expenses or is all the money being taken up in next month s budget. Treasurer Hougland explained the money was not all scheduled for next month s expenses. The budget was balanced, we balance income to expenses, we are not budgeting any reserves in the budget, so some of these funds could be placed into a better income producing account. Harbormaster Mich inquired if the budget included a maintenance budget because we are an aging club with incredible depreciation and annual depreciation. Director J. Humphreys advised that we have $13,475 budgeted for maintenance and repairs and that we spent $44,604. Harbormaster Mich asked if we are really able to support ourselves on a $13,000 maintenance budget. Past Commodore Eggert clarified that the kind of budgeting we do assumes that what we spent last year, would be the same this year. As for capital improvements, the Harbor and Facility Committee has the responsibility of identifying any one project that would be up for maintenance or repair this year and whether it is a onetime project or whether it is amortized over 5 years. There has not been a contingency reserve set up for anything that comes up. Director J. Humphreys inquired under Wages & Employee Benefits, whether this is $10,000 year-to-date (YTD) over budget, but Treasurer Hougland explained that it is really under budget Treasurer Hougland advised that Roger Stevenson is back on the Aged Accounts Receivable List. Commodore Mohr advised the Board that the office sent a letter to Stevenson stating we would accept a check for $1000 and we give him credit for his volunteer work. Member Stevenson was agreeable to this and issued a check for $1000, which was deposited by the bookkeeper in the bank. The bank returned the check as unacceptable because Member Stevenson posted dated the check by one month. Another letter was sent to Member Stevenson to advise him what happened. Commodore Mohr stated that he attempted to call Member Stevenson on both phone numbers on the call list, but both were disconnected. Director Felten believed this was a sign of bad faith. Commodore Mohr asks that if anyone sees Member Stevenson to ask he contact Commodore Mohr to clear up this matter. Treasurer Hougland stated she notated at the bottom of the Aged Accounts Receivable report that when the check was returned, the amount of the check and the forgiven debt were billed back to Member Stevenson in the current month so in the SSC bookkeeping of Member Stevenson s account shows those amounts as current, but that is not the case because his check was returned. Director J. Humphreys advised the board that Kristopher Canete is one of our College Junior Members and he may not want to be a Junior Member so she did not know why his name was on the Aged Account Receivables report. Treasurer Hougland explained that this report was made from Marina and there are glitches that need correcting. The move from Marina to QuickBooks continues with a target date of April 1, 2016 to have billing come out of QuickBooks. Vice Commodore Wm. Humphreys reminded the Board that according to the Bylaws, someone 30-days late, the account would be considered in arrears, 60-days late, their name would go up on the board behind the bar, and at 90-days late, you lose your membership. The Board has the ability to reinstate someone if this happens. Director Felten inquired what would be the action for non-members at 120-days or more, and Commodore Mohr explained a lien is placed on the non-member s boat. Treasurer Hougland advised the Board she did not make copies of the new budget, which was handed out to the Board in the February 2016 meeting and she hopes everyone still has a copy because we need to vote on it. No changes were made to the budget as presented to the Board of Directors in February Rear Commodore Wright inquired if the income from last year verses this year was based on some optimistic membership increase. Treasurer Hougland stated that the budget includes the fee increase with something built in, in the hopes of getting new members. Member Chris Shepherd inquired about the fee increase, that it was not proper and it could not be imposed on the members. However, Treasurer Hougland stated that the fee increase was again presented at the December 2015 Board meeting and then voted on in the January 2016 meeting, the dues poster went up in January 2016 on the Friday following the Board Meeting; however, the fee increase was not included in the Commodore s Comments or. the newsletter. Treasurer Hougland clarified further that it was in

7 Director J. Humphreys reiterated that the fee increase, per the Bylaws is to be posted in the SSC newsletter, but we did not have a newsletter last month and she did not know how otherwise, the Minutes would be published on the SSC website any other way. Port Captain McDougal commented that the Minutes were included in Docktalk, but Director J. Humphreys stated she did not receive her Docktalk via . MOTION TO ACCEPT THE F/Y BUDGET: McDougal / Wright M/S/P All in favor of approving the budget as it was presented in February 2016: All were in favor. e) Receive February Financial Reports Wright / McDougal M/S/P f) Correspondence Commodore Mohr read a letter to the SSC Editor of Docktalk from John McGowan, who is Past Commodore from 1939 expressing his delight and surprise to see his picture along with good friend, Bill Lester and a picture of their Snipe, Bar Fly in January Docktalk. The complete letter can be read in Docktalk. Commodore Mohr advised of four letters cancelling memberships: Adam Helms is withdrawing from his family membership as of March 7, 2016 Brad Partridge is withdrawing his membership as of April 1, 2016 Kathy Fleming is resigning her membership as of February 11, 2016 Kathryn and Marvin Vaccarezza are cancelling their membership as of February 27, 2016 Mark Ackerman sold his boat and is not sure when he would be getting another boat and was therefore, requesting a Leave of Absence. He is a member in good standing. Thomas Johnson submitted a request for use of the retreat for May 5, 2016 for a Memorial Luncheon, 50 guests are expected and the event is scheduled from 1600 to MOTION TO APPROVE THE MEMBERSHIP CANCELLA- TIONS AND UP TO ONE YEAR LEAVE OF ABSENCE: Eggert / Wm. Humphreys M/S/P MOTION TO ACCEPT THE REQUEST FOR USE OF THE RETREAT ON MAY 5, 2016: Hougland / Wright M/S/P g) Harbormaster s report: Harbormaster Mich reported the Learn to Sail Grant was approved for $35,000. The first adult Learn to Sail orientation included 12 people and two new family memberships, several expressed interest and one signed up for more classes. BIG thanks to Tom Lueck, Tru Lambie, Cam and guest. Two weeks of Spring Break Learn to Sail Sessions have 17 entries for the first week and 15 entries for the second week. We continue to put out flyers in various businesses. There was extensive Channel 10 News coverage by Amy Carabba that resulted an untold number of viewers, and over 6,000 Facebook views. BIG thanks to Cynthia Carpenter, her yoga team, and skippers Burt Mohr, Tom Lueck, and crew. The HVAC system finally passed inspection. The clubhouse roof continues to have issues, bubbling, leak, lamination, etc., which will be looked at by the contractor. There are no safety issues to report. E-dock is on target for completion. Commodore Mohr inquired how many new members were recruited in the last three months. Harbormaster Mich did not have this number, but reported that there were five new recruits within the last month. All people were asked how they heard about the SSC and many became aware through the posting of flyers. Commodore Mohr stated that the recruiting efforts are paying off, plus we have one returning member in John Purl. There have been more incoming than memberships being cancelled. Director J. Humphreys inquired of the $65 per class goes towards paying the clubs instructor or does it go directly to the clubs funding. Harbormaster Mich advised the Learn to Sail program was budgeted for this with the $65 plus $15, because it was not known if we would receive any grant money. Director Bertilacchi asked if we had members already that do not quite know how to sail or have expressed an interest in learning more. Harbormaster Mich advised no, but there might be a better targeted approach to include those members. Director Bertilacchi asked if they should go through the Learn to Sail program, but Harbormaster Mich recommended they go through the entire program. Director Felten asked if Learn to Sail was mentioned on the Channel 10 news cast and Harbormaster Mich said it was mentioned many times.2) Old Business a) Membership Recruitment & Retention Kevin Fox submitting an application for membership and he went through orientation. John Purl submitted an application for membership and is a returning member. b) Discussion on the warehouse storage rate change Commodore Mohr mentioned this will be the second of two discussions regarding the rate change for warehouse fees. The Board first discussed the warehouse fee increase in the February 9, 2016 board meeting, designed to bring all rates up to Market Standard to be effective April 1, The warehouse fee increase was cited in Docktalk as well as being reported in February 9, 2016 Minutes. Harbormaster Mich said we now need to vote on the warehouse fee increase. Vice Commodore Wm. Humphreys inquired what was the market standard and who determines that. Harbormaster Mich said that the Board makes this decision. The Board determined the Market Standard to be $210 plus the 3.25% fee increase going into effect would be the new warehouse storage fee. Members will receive their discount. MOTION TO INCREASE THE WAREHOUSE FEE TO MAR- KET STANDARD AS DISCCUSED, EFFECTIVE APRIL 1, 2016: Eggert / McDougal M/S/P c) Vote on FBLI Committee Members Treasurer Hougland identified the new FBLI Committee Members to include Diane Hougland, Kitty Gutierrez, John Courtright, John Moyer, Rick Gibson, and Peter Hine. We are now in Bylaw compliance of having only two sitting board members on the committee and are covered in having the minimum of five members. 8 Port Captain McDougal asked if there would be a Fun Race on April 2, 2016, Director Felten said these races are all scheduled on the Saturday before a Sunday, Spring Series Race. Port Captain McDougal advised the Stockton Yacht Club was having their boat parade on April 2, Commodore Mohr and Director Felten advised they spoke with the Stockton Yacht Club, there was no conflict with times and that the SSC would accommodate them as needed. Social and Cruise: Director J. Humphreys informed the Board the Juniors made more than $300 at the crab feed this year and opening day is scheduled for April 9, Don Brazil is looking for artists within the club to showcase their art on the clubhouse deck on opening day and we are still looking for volunteers for different functions throughout the day. On March 19, 2016 the Juniors are having the annual swap meet and pancake breakfast. If anyone has anything to donate to the Juniors to contact Vice Commodore Wm. Humphreys and flyers have been posted. Commodore Mohr spoke with Stewart Gregor and he will be doing the blessing of the boats on Opening Day, April 9, 2016 at 3 PM. Richmond Yacht Club offered to advertise our Swap Meet in exchange for the SSC advertising their Swap Meet and Director J. Humphreys asked for the Boards blessing to proceed with this offer. Commodore Mohr and the Board agreed. Vice Commodore Wm. Humphreys reported that participation in the crab feed was down and he believes members and guests attended. As rough estimate of profit, assuming all expenses were paid, amounts to ca. $600. Junior Sailing: Director J. Humphreys reported that 5 kids came in on new members last night, two families. Ages range between At the crab feed, they made $1279 combined with donations, tips and cake walk. In comparison, the Juniors made $1328 in The Juniors meeting was postponed until tomorrow, March 9, The cake sale made $796, there were $100 in donations and tips, $383. Director Bertilacchi commented that racing is down, members are getting older and we need to support our youth as far as competition. Kudos to LTS and it is amazing that we have kids that are coming out, but in the past they come out and don t do anything for us other than just coming out. Harbormaster Mich advised they have a contingency plan to keep them involved. Director Bertilacchi would like for the Juniors to make a plan on how the kids are going to be involved with the Juniors; a detailed plan of what competition, what races, and how are they going to get the kids and keep them involved. Director Bertilacchi wanted a competition committee, but the Juniors said they could do that themselves. As a Board, he believes we should hold the Junior Committee to their word. Past Commodore Eggert believes we should have follow up program so the kids don t just come and go after a competition and we must find a way to keep them interested. Advisory Committees Membership: Vice Commodore Wm. Humphreys informed the Board we have three trial applications: - Steve Stewart has gone through orientation and is now a member because we had approved him already -Albert Christensen, owns a Venture 25 and has gone through orientation -Kevin Fox -John Purl is a returning member and he is bringing his boat back Vice Commodore Wm. Humphreys recommends approval of the three memberships. We need to get the signatures on the applications prior to the application goes through orientation. Vice Commodore Wm. Humphreys wanted to remind the Board Members that the SSC has always been a friendly place and we should endeavor to be friendly not only to new members, but also existing members in an effort to not only recruit but to retain members. MOTION TO APPROVE THE THREE NEW MEMBERSHIPS AND ONE RETURNING MEMBERSHIP: Wm. Humphreys / Eggert M/S/P Finance, Budget, Legal and Insurance (FBLI) Treasurer Hougland informed the Board that on February 25, 2016 we received renewal quotes for Liability, Property and Workers Compensation coverage to begin March 31, 2016 from Doug Rader of Twin Rivers Marine Insurance. Of the quotes provided, Hanover is the best value for the money and offers more coverage in comparison to the quotes from ACE Property and New Hampshire Insurance. There is an increase in the premium for liability coverage and the premium for worker s compensation is down from last year. Hanover Insurance is our current insurance provider. The Board discussed full coverage for the SSC truck and comprehensive only for boat trailers. With a $1000 deductible on the truck and $500 on the trailers, the auto premium would be $237 per year more. In comparison, with a $500 deductible on the truck and $250 deductible on the trailers, there would be a $286 yearly premium. The Board at this point elected to consider this further and the coverage added at a later date, if so determined. MOTION TO ACCEPT THE QUOTE FROM HANOVER IN- SURANCE FOR LIABILITY, PROPERTY, AND WORKERS COMPENSATION RENEWAL EFFECTIVE 3/31/2016: Hougland / Gutierrez M/S/P f) Harbor and Facilities: Port Captain McDougal informed the Board that a meeting was not held in March Rules and Policies: Rear Commodore Wright advised this committee will write up and submit its new recommendations to the Board. One item was a Bylaw that was incorrectly written, it was passed, but it needs to be re-written to reflect its true intent. It would then be placed on the ballot in November There is a section in the roster that talks about small boat size and how their rent is determined and it seems to be obsolete given our new rental structure in the Harbor Rules section. Part if Page 8

9 Continued from previous page 5) Board questions and Comments Director J. Humphreys informed the board that Commodore, Claire Powell and husband, Mark Powell from the Alameda Yacht Club visited the Stockton Sailing Club this past weekend. Unfortunately, the bar was not stocked well. Commodore Mohr advised this was brought to the Stewards attention and that if any Commodore visits the SSC that he be notified as he would want to meet with them. Additionally, if the bar is ever not stocked as needed to notify Commodore Mohr immediately and he will handle the matter. Director J. Humphreys assisted them as best she could. Commodore Powell informed Director J. Humphreys they have an interest in how our POS system works and have a similar honor bar set up. Motion to adjourn the meeting: Gutierrez / Buck M/S/P The meeting was adjourned at 20:34 to April 12, 2016 at 18:30 Respectfully submitted, Learn to Sail Spring Break Style Kudos to whoever came up with this idea. 35 kids from ages 8-18 signed up for Spring Break Learn to Sail classes. In addition to the learn to sail aspect of the classes the kids were also taught the importance of safety first. Some of their time was spent understanding how their school studies relate to sailboats. The kids were really excited and plan on signing up for more classes during the summer. Page 9
