It shoul e stury with equte protetion ginst rekge (regultors go wie open if ontrol line is roken). Pith it to rin wy from the regultor, free of moisture pokets. The ontrol line shoul e no less thn 1/4" steel tuing or pipe for the 461-1S n 461-8S moels n 1/" steel pipe for the 461-S moels. The regultor will work to eliver the pressure(for whih it is juste) t tht point in the piping where the ontrol onnetion is lote. In generl, the ontrol onnetion shoul e t lest eight pipe imeters ownstrem from the regultor n shoul e in s stright run s possile where turulene is minimum. Keep ler of elows, vlves, n other uses of exessive turulene. The ontrol onnetion shoul e len n smooth insie the pipe to minimize turulene. It shoul e lote on the top or sie of the pipe, not on the ottom.where outlet piping inreses in size ner the regultor, it is generlly preferle to lote the onnetion in the lrger size. The unions for the ontrol lines of the 461-S moels ontin smll orifie (pproximtely 1/16" imeter). This orifie shoul not e remove. Also, mke ertin it is open n free of foreign mteril. 6 Chek ll onnetions for leks. CAUTION Turn gs on very slowly. If n outlet stop vlve is use, it shoul e opene first. Do not overlo the iphrgm with suen surge of inlet pressure. Monitor the outlet pressure uring strt-up to prevent n outlet pressure overlo. 7 Put the regultor into opertion s follows:. Slowly open ownstrem ontrol line vlve (A).. Slowly open ownstrem lok vlve (B).. Very slowly open upstrem lok vlve (C).. When strt-up n justment re omplete, mke sure vlves (A), (B), n (C) re fully opene. See igrm pge 8 Set justing srew for the require outlet pressure. Turn it lok wise to inrese the pressure n ounterlokwise to erese it. Only mke the justment when gs is tully flowing through the regultor. Remove the sel p n, if pplile, loosen loknut to mke justment. After justment is omplete, loknut (if pplile) shoul e tightene firmly n sel p reple. The sene of this sel p n result in unstle opertion. 9 To shut own, refully lose vlves (C), (B), n (A) in tht orer. CAUTION 1 Keep pipe ope n ll other foreign sustnes out of the ontrol line. Use this to return justment to setting uring ressemly. On 461-1S remove justment 3 n spring 9. On 461-8S relese justment 3 n remove over 5, utton 7, n spring 9. On 461-S relese justment 3 n remove over 8, utton 7, n spring 9. Remove ottom inspetion plte 14, n unsrew vlve ssemly intt from iphrgm ssemly (1 unsrews from h). 3 Unsrew orifie 18 with soket wrenh (1-1/" hex eep soket). Remove orifie 18 n vlve ssemly intt through ottom opening. 4 If vlve ssemly oes not require hnges, reple without isturing set srew 1g (top en of 1 srews onto h) until it ottoms n shoul then e ke off 1/ turn to 1 full turn). 5 If new prts re neee, isssemle vlve ssemly y loosening set srew 1g n unsrewing 1h from 1, n then unsrewing nut 1e n prt 1j. 6 Reple prts s require, then ressemle upper hlf vlve ssemly (prts 1, 1, 1, 1, 1e) n lower hlf (prts 1f, 1g, 1h, 1, 1, 1j). 7 Insert through ottom opening:. upper hlf vlve ssemly srew 1 onto h until it ottoms, then k off 1/ to 1 full turn.. orifie 18 srew firmly into ple.. lower hlf vlve ssemly srew onto upper hlf y 3 or 4 turns (1h srews onto 1). 8 Mke the vlve lok-up justment. Set the upper vlve ginst orifie 19 while srewing up the lower hlf vlve ssemly (1h srews onto 1) until the lower vlve is sete ginst 18. Then, firmly tighten set srew 1g. To set the upper vlve ginst orifie 19 either reh it through the oy sie opening or remove iphrgm ssemly n pull top en of stem 1 upwrs. Tighten 1g with srewriver or Allen wrenh through oy sie opening. If neessry, turn the entire vlve ssemly (refully o not istur justment) to fe 1g towr sie opening. 1g must tighten ginst flt re t top of 1h to orretly lok the justment. 9 Srew entire vlve ssemly up (top of 1 srews onto lower en of h) until it ottoms. Then k off 1/ to 1 full turn this is importnt. 10 Reple ottom inspetion plte 14. Engge pin in 13 with slot in lower en of 1j, then rotte 14 until holes line up n instll p srews 16. Reple prts remove uner Step 1 ove n return justment to originl setting. To Servie Single Set Blne Vlve Assemly 1 Remove sel p 1, 1 or 1. Mrk or mesure position of justment 3 or 3. Use this to return justment to this setting uring ressemly. On 461-1S remove justment 3 n spring 9. On 461-8S relese justment 3 n remove over 5, utton 7, n spring 9. On 461-S relese justment 3 n remove over 8, utton 7, n spring 9. Remove ottom inspetion plte Remove loknut 1e, then slip off vlve 1 n retiner 1. Orifie 18 n e remove with soket wrenh (1-1/" hex eep soket.) Ressemle in reverse orer. 4 If it shoul e neessry to remove stem 1 or vlve guie 30, o so y first removing lower iphrgm se 4 (steps through 7 uner To Servie Diphrgm elow). Use soket wrenh for 30 (1-1/ hex eep soket). 5 Note single set lne vlve oes not require ny lok-up justment. 6 Note : orifie 18 must e sme size s stem guie 30 (1 18 with 1 30 n /16 18 with /16 30). Do not use /16 size of one with 1 size of the other. 7 Reple ottom inspetion plte Reple prts remove uner Step 1 ove n return justment to originl setting. To Chnge Spring 1 Remove sel p 1, 1 or 1. On 461-1S remove justment 3 n spring 9. On 461-8S relese justment 3 n remove over 5, utton 7, n spring 9. On 461-S relese justment 3 n remove over 8 utton 7, n spring 9. Insert the new spring. Be sure it nests orretly onto prt. 3 Reple remining prts remove uner Step 1. To Servie Diphrgm 1 Remove sel p 1, 1 or 1. Mrk or mesure position of justment 3 or 3. Use this to return justment to this setting uring ssemly. On 461-1S remove justment 3 n spring 9. On 461-8S relese justment 3 n remove over 5, utton 7, n spring 9. On 461-S relese justment 3 n remove over 8, utton 7, n spring 9. Remove olts n then refully remove upper iphrgm se 1. 3 Turn iphrgm ssemly ounterlokwise (this unsrews h from 1) n remove. 4

Diphrgm must not e pinhe etween upper n lower ses 1 n 4. Mke sure trvel initor 45 is working. Tighten olts 3- evenly. 8 Insert spring 9. Be sure it nests orretly into prt.
