Natinal Tatt Practical Examinatin is the licensure examinatin fr Tatt, which is develped by the Natinal-Interstate Cuncil f State Bards f Csmetlgy (NIC). This bulletin cntains IMPORTANT INFORMATION regarding the NIC Natinal Tatt Practical Examinatin cntent and administratin fr Tatt cre sectins. Fr each NIC Natinal Practical Examinatin, there are TWO (2) parts t every (CIB) stred as separate dcuments: Examinatin Cntent and Imprtant Instructins This prvides infrmatin abut the scpe f cntent cvered in the Practical examinatin and infrmatin and guidelines related t administratin f the Practical examinatin. References This prvides a list f references used t develp and supprt the cntent cvered in NIC examinatins. The references will always be the same fr bth Thery and Practical examinatins. Picture ID is required fr re-entry int the examinatin. Candidates are required t bring a supply kit fr their wn use. It is the candidate s respnsibility t make certain they have a sufficient quantity f supplies that have been prperly cleaned and disinfected and that implements are in prper wrking rder. The kit will be used during the examinatin as dry strage and is cnsidered part f the wrk area. The kit must be kept clsed (e.g., cmpletely zipped r lid tightly clsed) except when remving materials fr a particular service. Candidates may remve items, supplies, etc., frm the kit at any time, hwever nthing may be returned t the kit. All examinatins are administered in a testing envirnment. 2 Due t standardizatin f the NIC Natinal Examinatins. Prctrs and examiners are required t adhere t the fllwing standards: The verbal instructins will be read twice fr each sectin f the examinatin. With the exceptin f verbal instructins, the prctrs are nt allwed t cmmunicate with candidates. Examiners are nt allwed t speak with candidates. Candidates requesting infrmatin during the examinatin will be tld ne f the fllwing statements: D the best yu can with what yu have available. D as yu were taught. If a candidate experiences an emergency situatin, please ntify the prctr by raising yur hand. Candidates will be given time t set up the universal (als knwn as general) supplies they will use thrughut the examinatin. Each sectin f the examinatin has a maximum time allwance, with the exceptin f thse specified as untimed sectins. Once candidates have cmpleted all tasks in the sectin, please step back r turn the hand tward the examiner (in the case f nail sectins) t indicate they have finished. In the event that all candidates cmplete a sectin befre the time has elapsed, the examiners will prceed t the next sectin f the examinatin. 3 All supplies must be labeled in English. When an riginal manufacturer s label is required, there can be NO handwritten r any ther type f labeling. Original manufacturer s labels must have English and may als include ther languages. All nnmanufacturer created labels must be nly in English. Original manufacturer s labels are required fr all disinfectants and hand sanitizers. An EPA-registered, hspital-grade disinfectant that demnstrates bactericidal, fungicidal, and virucidal prperties must be used. Please refer t the Suggested Examinatin Supplies sectin t see any further state specific requirements fr supplies and prducts. Simulated prducts are nt allwed fr disinfectants and hand sanitizers. NO AEROSOLS are allwed in the testing envirnment Candidates are t perfrm all tasks, utilizing prducts and supplies, and as they were taught. There is hwever, a sectin titled Suggested Examinatin Supplies prvided fllwing the Cntent Dmains sectin f this bulletin fr items that a candidate may pssibly utilize in a sectin. SPECIAL ATTENTION The fllwing infrmatin is vital and specific t the NIC Natinal Tatt Practical Examinatin: Candidates will be evaluated n prper designatin f materials that are dispsed. Candidates are required t bring and use the fllwing supplies fr the apprpriate dispsal f materials: Cntainer labeled T be disinfected/sterilized Cntainer labeled Sharps (OSHA Apprved) Cntainer labeled Trash Candidates are nt allwed t label prducts as single-use items. Use f single-use prducts may result in a failing scre fr the examinatin. If a hand washing statin is NOT prvided in the examinatin rm, the nearest restrm will serve as the hand washing statin. Live mdel must have a pre-shaved frearm; frearm MUST be free f tatts. In the case a ft switch is used fr the examinatin, it will be cnsidered a cntaminated item and therefre MUST be packed and stred separate frm clean supplies and equipment. 5 1. WORK AREA SET UP (20 minutes) Prctr Verbal Instructins: Read t candidate: "Yu will imagine the fllwing scenari: Yu are starting wrk at a new studi. Yu have been assigned a wrk statin that cntains tw tables and tw chairs. Yu are respnsible fr setting up the statin and unpacking yur supplies. Yu will begin seeing clients as sn as yur statin is prepared." Yu will prepare yurself fr a tatt prcedure. Yu will prepare yur wrk surface(s) and wrk area(s) fr yur first client. Yu will set up the supplies and equipment yu will use thrughut the examinatin. Yu may arrange the wrk area and equipment t meet yur needs. Yu will designate the universal supply area n the table prvided. Yu will nt assemble yur machine r disperse pigment at this time. Yu will be expected t fllw all client prtectin, safety and infectin cntrl prcedures. Yu will have 20 minutes t cmplete this sectin. Yu will be infrmed when yu have 10 minutes remaining. Yu will prepare yur client fr services. Yur mdel shuld be in the chair at this time. Yu must use an arm rest fr the simulated applicatin. Yu will perfrm a simulated shave. D nt uncap the razr.
