2 about me i am Jorick Krooshof, an Illustrator/Graphic Designer working under the name Serpent Artwork. Inspired by the (early) skateboard art and the hardcore/punk/metal artwork I ve developed my own style. Every step in the design process is done by hand, from the first pencil sketch till the last bit of dots in the shading. This makes every design unique. Using illustrator to vectorize the whole drawing I can use it for any digital purposes or for screenprinting. For the past couple of years I have been working on artwork and designs for bands, brands, venues and promoters. I made all kinds of album covers, shirt designs, posters, logos and more. In the process of building this portfolio I ve selected designs that give a great overview of my style and work so far.

3 snakerun session Snakerun Session is a skateboard contest/get together and is held at het Hulsbeek. This is a place where you can stroll through the forest, swim in a big lake and ride your board in the skatepark. The park was built in 1979 and is the oldest european skatepark that is still standing. It has speedbumps, corners and the Snakerun. The whole scenery makes this skatepark perfect to get a taste of the concrete Surfing vibe from back in the day. Client: Skateboard Federatie Nederland Year: 2015

4 cold mind Cold mind is a hardcore band from Rotterdam. I met their guitar player on our Russia tour when he was still playing in the band Hawser and I got to make the artwork for their new record. When he started a new band (Cold Mind) he wanted me to make their new artwork as well. They asked for a dark, demonic, end of the world look and feel. Client: cold mind Year: 2015

Some of the guys design skateparks. as a first project they built a miniramp in our office building. This drawing was made for the miniramp contest that was organized by our collective. The barbecue, beer, music, skateboard and skyline had to be included in the design. Client: de bovenkamer Year: 2015

6 lastig art Together with a friend I started a side project called Lastig. We wanted to combine our skills and make cool screenprints. We both made a design with a bug and a flower, which then we printed on a series of tote bags and shirts. Client: lastig art Year: 2014

8 selkies Selkies is a metal band from Hengelo, the Netherlands. Their band is named after a mythical creature that is often displayed as a seal-like creature. They wanted their name and a seal put together in their new artwork. Client: Selkies Year: 2015

9 forsaken One of my favorite bands got confirmed at one of my favorite venues. Then I had the pleasure to make the flyer for the event. Forsaken is known for their metal and hardcore riffs and lyrics about the reaper and the devil. So I thought it would be perfect to let the reaper show the date of the show. To make the reaper stand out from the designs I ve seen through the years I wanted to give him a little bit of skin, instead of just a skeleton. Client: innocent Year: 2013

They play punk rock and do everything their own way, and that was exactly what they wanted as the story of the cover. They had a lot of ideas but this was my favorite; A punkrocker saying I don t care to someone with just one gesture. To make it all even clearer I made the opposite person look like a businessman and I filled the background with things every punkrocker opposes. Client: Snareset Year: 2015

It took me quite some time to get the idea on paper exactly as I wanted it. I m still very happy with the result. Client: Serpent Year: 2014

12 to the test The hardcore band To The Test came with a new EP and I got to do the design. After multiple ideas that were just not good enough, this is what came out of a brainstorm session in a local bar. I made a sketch on a beercoaster and started on the design. The doctor/psychiatrist that was on one of their first shirt designs got reintroduced on this record. The songs are about death, hell, the devil and such, so my idea was to let the doctor reach out for the listener and let all the 3 arrows on the clock point to the 6. To make it complete the cover of the record shows an upside down cross when it s unfolded. The little patch on the doctor s coat was later used as the front of the last shirt and I printed some actual patches. Client: to the test Year: 2013

skate maps Skatemaps is an app by and for skateboarders. It shows good skatespots using google maps. People all over the word can add their favorite skatespots in the app as well.

There was one guy that kept adding spots in Slovenia, a country the people at Skatemaps didn t expect to have such good spots.they decided to get in touch with the guy and do a little interview. they asked if I wanted to do some illustrations for some interviews. I never did something like this before so it was a great experience. Client: Skatemaps Year: 2014

14 hausder This artwork was made for a friend of mine, everybody calls him Hausder. His girlfriend wanted to give him something special for his birthday, so she asked if I could make a triangle filled with stuff he likes.i added Hausder later and then printed it on a sweater. 15 de kroeg This design was made for a show in a small bar in Oldenzaal, the Netherlands. I just started to take my drawing seriously when a friend started setting up shows in the bar, and i got to made flyers. There was one show every month, so this was a good way to build a good portfolio. This was one of the first ones I made for the shows at de Kroeg. I was trying to make the flyer seem torn open. I included a knife, based on the knife John Rambo used in his movies. Client: de kroeg Year: 2012

16 de kroeg AT THE FIFTH SHOW THE WAS A band called meet the storm playing. by hearing the name i IMMEDIATELY got a pirate vibe. I decided to illustrate a shipwrecked pirate, sea creatures and the sea itself TO GIVE THAT BACK. Client: de kroeg Year: 2012

17 de fabriek The pirates from Skateboard Vereniging de Fabriek represent the skateboarding scene from the eastern part of the Netherlands. They built one of the best skateparks in the Netherlands with the help of the skateboarding youth in/around Enschede. They asked me to make a design that included the pirate theme, twente, Enschede and skateboarding. Client: Skateboard vereniging de fabriek Year: 2015

18 wayfarer youth Wayfarer Youth is a punkrock/grunge band from my hometown Hengelo, the Netherlands. Everybody in this band did multiple tours and therefore all their lyrics are about travelling, tours and everything that comes with life on the road. The travelling theme was key in the making of the design and they WANTED SOMETHING SIMPLIFIED COMPARED TO MY PREVIOUS WORK. Client: wayfarer youth Year: 2015

troops of doom The band Troops of Doom comes from the twente region in EAST HOLLAND. They play dark and heavy hardcore/metal and they did their first europe tour last august.

19 troops of doom The band Troops of Doom comes from the twente region in EAST HOLLAND. They play dark and heavy hardcore/metal and they did their first europe tour last august. This is the design I made for the tour poster and tour shirts. It s metal from twente; the reaper riding a palehorse. The reaper is used as A synonym for the metal music and the palehorse is a synonym for the Twentse Ros, the symbol on the flag of Twente. Client: troops of doom Year: 2015

20 rivals in friends I met the guys from Rivals in Friends when I was looking for design jobs in Berlin, their hometown. Two guys from the band were starting their own brand but neither of them had design skills. I MADE THE ARTWORK FOR THEIR NEW SHIRT. THE TOPIC WAS LIGHT OR DARKNESS, I CHOSE A BASIC PAIR OF SYMBOLS TO RESEMBLE THAT. Client: rivals in friends Year: 2015

21 hawser We did a couple shows together WITH HAWSER while I was filling in on Striking Justice s russia tour. They just MADE a new record at the time. After seeing some of my designs they ASKED ME TO MAKE THE COVER ARTWORK. The cover had to be about one guy, scared and surrounded by demons. Client: hawser Year: 2014
