3 About the Event: Forks and Skis is a ticketed ski event open to the public for those interested in hitting the slopes while helping Foodlink fulfill its mission of a healthy, hunger-free community. This is the third year for the charity ski event. In 2013 and 2014, the event was named the Muxy Ski-Off in honor of the late Gary Muxworthy. Mr. Muxworthy was a sports enthusiast who devoted much of his life to raising money for charities through exciting sporting events. In 2013, the event raised $15,000 for Foodlink. In 2014, the event raised $31,000 for Foodlink. After last year s event, the Muxworthy family decided to go in a different direction with their family name. We appreciative of their support during the first two years of this event. Moving forward this Charity Ski Event has been rebranded and is now: Forks & Skis. The new name reflects on the event itself and that the dollars raised through skiing puts food on forks for 200,000 individuals locally. We hope to see you on the slopes on March 6 from 12-5pm at the Bristol Mountain Ski Resort. About Foodlink: Foodlink is the regional food hub serving 500 human service agencies in a 10-county service area. Our operations target the root causes of hunger. We do this by distributing food to our network of agencies, serving meals through our commercial kitchen, and offering more than 30 food-related programs. Our innovative approach directly addresses health disparities related to food insecurity.
