2 Uitemate is an important motto to help survive sudden water accidents. When a person encounters a water related incident, it is vital to keep the air-way free by floating on their back (uite) and waiting for a rescuer to come to their assistance (mate). Uitemate challenges the current thought of water rescue to where the victim plays the leading role, not rescuer. Welcome Message It is our great honor and pleasure to host the 2017 annual Water Rescue and Survival Research, Uitemate Workshop in Boracay in the Philippines on November 3rd 4th. The main theme of Uitemate 2017 is the skills needed for victims in water related accidents. Papers related to all the different aspects of water rescue and survival research are welcome. There will be sessions that address new theory, methodology and application related to water rescue and survival. This workshop also provides a training course to become an instructor of survival floating. This course is well-known in Japan and more than 2,500 instructors have been trained in the last decade. We are confident that every participant s intellectual pursuits will be satisfied with the scientific program, instructor course and social events that we are planning. We welcome all of you. 4 General Information Date November 3~ November 3, 2017 Venue Faith Village Resort in Boracay Theme Skill needed by water accident victims Official Website Official Language English Venue The Faith Village Resort Boracay is in Station 3 and is situated on the access road to White beach. It is about 3 minutes walk to the shore. Bora Spa and Papa's Tattoo Shop are conveniently located nearby. Take the access road from the main road next to Dela Rosa Mart and Talisaynon Store, and The Faith Village Resort is about less than a minute walk from main road. Scientific program The uitemate 2017 program will be structured around sessions for oral and poster presentations. The primary theme will be skills needed by water accident victims, however other topics in water rescue and survival research field of study will be considered.

Lunches, coffee breaks and the welcome reception are not covered. Registration fee for the instructor course includes handling of issue of the international instructor certificate and annual membership in the society of Water Rescue and Survival Research. Text books for the instructor course are separate from the course fee.
