For beginners through advanced players, the schedule offers classes once, twice or three times per week. Juniors who advance to the intermediate class may try out for the competitive team tennis. Each student s ability will be determined by an instructor and moved accordingly to the correct class. Instructors are subject to change based on availability. There will be a maximum of six students per instructor, but a minimum of three students is needed in order for a class to form, otherwise students will be transferred into another appropriate class. Practice days are Monday through Saturday from 4pm to 6pm. Teams compete every other Sunday afternoon. Players will compete in singles and/or doubles matches. A schedule of matches and teams will be distributed the first week of practice or may be obtained on our website, LEVELS OF PLAY W E AR E HE RE TO COM PET E. P RE PAR E YO UR SE LF WEL L. T ON Y S MIT H T EA M T EN NI S D IR EC TOR 10 Weeks of Tennis Teams compete in Gamma Westside Jr. League at three levels: Novice, Satellite, and Open level. Week 1: Footwork Novice (ages 12 & under): These players know how to keep score, double-fault less than half the time, and can rally at a slow pace. Week 3: Backspin Satellite (ages 10-15): These players can rally consistently, seldom double-fault, can use strategies, and are developing sound footwork. They often play USTA Satellite Tournaments. Open (ages 13-17): These players often play USTA Open Tournaments. They are consistent, can force errors with their shots, can use a variety of spins, and have sound footwork and strategy.
