Moved: Mike Seconded: Cheryle STANDING ORDERS SET ASIDE FOR SPECIAL GUEST SPEAKER STEPHANIE ESHAK, TENNIS VIC METRO NORTH PARTICIPATION LEADER Special guest speaker Stephanie Eshak, Metro North s Participation Leader from Tennis VIC discussed her role as Participation Leader. She looks after 30 tennis clubs in the Banyule, Nillumbik, Whittlesea and Darebin local government areas. Tennis VIC s focus moving forward is on clubs, associations & competitions. Items discussed included: Eltham Festival Sunday 22 nd November 2015: This year it ll be more targeted clubs coming and taking part and Steph could schedule Research TC around lunchtime for 2 hours to get the most exposure. She would like at least a coach presence on the day. Please see attached what is expected of the club and coach on the day. My Tennis V2 The tennis VIC online database for membership is being revamped. It should be available by October and Tennis VIC will hold forum to introduce the new software. Kids on Court: In the lead up to the 2016 summer of tennis Tennis VIC will be contacting coaches to sign up for Kids on Court during Kooyong and the Aus Open. This is a great opportunity for both the club and the coaching program. Steph would strongly recommend the coaches getting involved, so look out for information about this around November/December. Open Up Tennis (to public): Currently expressions of interest are closed for Open Up Tennis and Steph doesn t know when the next round will be. She would recommend that the club contact s Ken Barton (kbarton@tennis.com.au) to flag our interest. He s the best contact for this program. The software is available for all Tennis VIC affiliates. Our costs would include the hardware and infrastructure. It may be possible to get some financial / funding help from council grants. Karingal Drive TC is on the 3 rd round of the pilot program. Funding/Grants: Steph is available to read over any applications we have for funding and grants so feel free to send our application for the Community Sports Infrastructure Fund through to her or contact for help with wording etc. ANZ Incentive Promotion: Win a Sports Party for your club. Competition closes Friday 4 December Clubs are required to sign up as an ANZ Home Loan Introducer to be eligible for this competition. The winning club will be chosen based on the highest number of introductions to ANZ who apply for and draw on a 1

2 qualifying loan. The winning club must have made at least 5 ANZ Home Loan introductions that result in drawing a qualifying loan to be eligible for the prize. Attached are some details about the program. ANZ Home Loan Introducer Program Earn additional income for your club by introducing potential customers to ANZ s home loans. Introducers will receive a one-off upfront commission for every member they introduce to ANZ who applies for and draws down a qualifying ANZ Loan. Most of these payments have been made using direct deposit. They will continue to follow 4

5 up unpaid 2015/16 memberships until Brayden has handed over to Gail Bradley. Unfortunately Gail has not been available due to injury. Committee discussed options on whether to continue current membership database system using EziDebit or move to Tennis VIC s MyTennis version 2 (when up & running) where members are sent an invoice at membership time and can pay by credit card, direct deposit, cheque or cash. The decision was postponed until Gail is available. Maintenance: Mike has contacted Tom at Nillumbik Council regarding a date for completion of clean up following the electrical work. Still waiting on Nillumbik Council regarding the insurance policy for the fire damage to courts 4 and 5. Mike has received a quote for the repairs. Mike received help from several members including Joe Fascini, Wayne Alexander, Peter Cullum, Peter Ampt to set up the new tennis nets on the courts. Mike has purchased two new leaf dragnets and sent a Rainbeater Roller for repair. Nillumbik Council will remove of a tree on court 2 this week. Ben raised this issue of the disgusting condition of the BBQ last Saturday. Mike stated it was the responsibility of BBQ users to clean the BBQ after use. Mike will purchase some BBQ cleaning equipment and try to involve some members on Sunday to assist with a good clean of the BBQ. DVTA: Congratulations to Grand final winners THNM Section 4 Blue defeated St Marys Team members Mike Di Petta, Chris Fitzpatrick, Lachlan Kishnev, Matt O Brien, Jack Peacock, Campbell Prior & Daniel Wood. Neville Mears (DVTA) has commenced fining clubs for late entry of results. We ve received two $20 fines for MNX section 3 and THNM section 6. Fines have been paid but teams yet to reimburse club. Research came last on the 2014/15 DVTA Club Shield winning only one grand final last season. Juniors: Four junior teams played in the semi finals girl s section 2 & boys sections 7, 20, 24. Unfortunately all teams were unsuccessful in moving into the grand finals. We have total of 8 teams, a loss of 3 teams from last season, playing in the Spring season 5 boys teams & 3 girls teams. Four teams are currently in the top 4 on the ladder. Social: Nil. GENERAL BUSINESS: 2016/17 Community Sports Infrastructure Fund Nillumbik Council has requested expressions of interest from sports and recreation clubs for the Victorian State Government s Community Sports Infrastructure Funding program. It focuses on providing accessible sports & recreation facilities, increasing access & participation particularly for females & juniors, innovative and environmentally sustainable facilities. 5

6 Following an information session last Wednesday 12 th August, Mike is preparing to submit an application for the replacement of the two en-tout-cas courts with new poly clay courts that will improve the availability to play following wet weather because of the improved vertical drainage. Our application fits within the Minor Facilities fund category that provides grants up to $100,000. All applications require matching funding through club, council (not likely) or other sources. Expressions of interest are required to be submitted to council by Monday 24 th August. Emergency Players Mike still to contact all team captains that emergency players who have played THREE matches in any team for Research Tennis Club must be referred to the Membership Secretary for membership if they wish to continue to play as an emergency player. Mike will contact Linda Turner & Lois Kesselring to obtain their team lists. Sunday Morning Social Tennis Wayne Alexander has requested an to members informing them of informal social tennis from 9am on Sundays. All members and abilities welcome. OTHER ITEMS: Yarra Valley Winery Tour Wayne Alexander has researched and suggested a Yarra Valley Winery Tour in October/November as a club social event. Organised tours cost approx $110-$145 per person which incudes 3 4 wineries, lunch, Yarra Valley Dairy and Chocolaterie. Another cheaper option would be to hire a bus approx $1,000-$1400 day, contact & organise to visit to 3-4 wineries, lunch in pub etc. Wayne will continue research and come back next meeting with details.
