Home court:...swenson Gym (1,000) Quick Hits After two road conference matches last weekend, the WSU volleyball team will step out of Big Sky play for a non-conference and in-state match Tuesday at Utah. The Wildcats will take on the Utes at in Salt Lake City. Weber State is 3-13 overall this season while Utah is Wildcats split two conference matches The Wildcats picked up a 3-2 win at Montana State Friday night for their second Big Sky win of the season. They followed that up with a 3-1 loss at Montana on Saturday night. The Wildcats are now 3-13 overall and 2-3 in conference action. It is the 33rd year of volleyball coaching for Givens, with 31 of those years as a head coach. His career includes coaching volleyball at the high school, junior college and Division I levels. He is now the longest tenured active coach in the Big Sky Conference. Givens left Arizona Western in 1984 to take the assistant job at the University of Mississippi, and in 1985 was named head coach. In his one year as head coach at Ole Miss he led the team to a record. In 1986 he was named head coach at Texas A&M University. He coached there for seven seasons and compiled a record of In 1993 Givens became the ninth head volleyball coach in Weber State history. At Weber State he has a career record of (.398) and is (.419) in Big Sky games. In 24 years as a Division I head coach Givens has a career record of (.445). Big weekend for Chelsea Bair WSU senior Chelsea Bair had a huge weekend in leading the Cats. The Provo, Utah native had two double-doubles and averaged 4.56 kills and 2.67 digs per set in leading Weber State. She had a season-high 23 kills in Friday s 3-2 win at Montana State. The 23 kills is the second most of her career and the first time she has posted 20 or more in a match since her freshman year of It was also the first time any Wildcat had posted 20 or more kills since Micah Lines had 21 in September Bair also added 13 digs in the win over the Bobcats. She followed that up with 18 kills and 11 digs, both team-highs, in WSU s 3-1 loss at Montana on Saturday. For the week Bair totaled 41 kills. She now has five double-doubles on the season and has recorded a double-double in all three of Weber State s victories. So far this season the Wildcats are 3-2 when Chelsea Bair has a double-double and 0-10 when she does not. Bair also moving up records lists With her strong performance Chelsea Bair continues to move up the records charts at Weber State and the Big Sky. The senior now has 1,467 kills for her career which ranks second in Weber State history and is now eighth in Big Sky history. She needs just 86 more to move into fifth place in conference history. Bair also moved up to fourth in WSU history in career digs with 1,154. She also ranks second in career attacks, fourth in career aces, and seventh in sets played. Caitlyn Anderson also has good weekend for Wildcats WSU senior Caitlyn Anderson also had a strong weekend for the Wildcats. The Idaho Falls, Idaho native recorded a double-double with 12 kills and 14 digs in WSU s win at Montana State Friday, her first doubledouble of the season. She followed that up by tying her season-high with 14 kills and nine digs in the loss at Montana. On the season Anderson is averaging 1.75 kills and 2.30 digs per set. She is WSU s career leader in digs and ranks 17th in Big Sky history in career digs. 2

Junior Kim Lissinna had her first with 25 assists and a season-high 11 digs Friday at Montana State and Jocilyn Taylor had her second double-double of the year with 25 assists and 10 digs at Montana. Give me five Weber State won 3-2 at Montana State Friday for its third win of the season. So far this season all three of Weber State s victories have come in five sets. The Cats also beat Gonzaga and Portland State 3-2. WSU is 0-8 in three-set matches and 0-4 in four-set matches, but 3-1 when going to five sets. Big Sky rankings Weber State ranks sixth in the Big Sky in blocks and aces. The Wildcats are also eighth in the league in hitting percentage, assists, and kills and rank ninth in opponent hitting percentage and digs. Individually, after a strong weekend Chelsea Bair is now third in the conference in aces, fifth in points, and sixth in kills at 3.20 per set. The match will begin at at Crimson Court in Salt Lake City. The match can be seen live for free at utahutes.com, which will also have live game stats. About Utah The Utah Utes enter Tuesday s match with a 10-5 overall record but the Utes have won their last four matches, all conference matches, and are 4-0 in Mountain West action. They started the season 6-5 in non-conference action but have rattled off wins over Air Force, San Diego State, BYU, and UNLV in their last four. The Utes are also 7-1 at home this season. Weber State and Utah have played five common opponents this season with the Utes going 3-2 and the Wildcats 0-5 in those matches. Utah beat Cal Poly 3-0, who beat Weber State 3-2. The Utes also beat Utah State 3-2, where the Wildcats lost 3-1. Utah also has a win over BYU, who beat WSU 3-0. Both teams lost to Utah Valley and Washington State. Utah is led by junior Karolin Bartkowiak who is averaging 2.96 kills per set, seventh best in the Mountain West. Sarah Hibbert is eighth in the league at 2.91 kills. Keisha Fisher is fifth in the conference in digs and senior Chelsey Sandberg leads the MWC in aces. The Utes lead the conference in hitting percentage at.244. They also rank third in kills and fourth in digs and blocks. Beth Launiere is in her 20th season as head coach of the Utes. She recently posted her 400th career victory at Utah.
