Torrance Johnson (Chicago Heights, Ill./Chicago Hope Academy) led the Pride with 15 points and pulled down five rebounds. Richard Robertson (Fort Wayne, Ind./Northrop) scored 10 points and Caleb Brannon (Lebanon, Ind./Lebanon) added his season-high 10 points in the setback. SCOUTING THE LAKERS Lake Superior State is coming off a victory against Grand Valley State on Feb. 22. Akaemji Williams led the Lakers with 22 points, Malek Adams scored 20 points off the bench, Carson Manger added 14 and Ke Montrece Collins pitched in 11 in the victory. LSSU is led by Williams, who averages 18.9 points, seven assists and 3.1 steals per game. SERIES HISTORY The Lakers lead the series 1-0 after defeating the Pride back on Jan. 20 at the H.D. Kesling Gymnasium inside the James B. Dworkin Student Services and Activities Complex. The Pride were led by Chris Nunn (Anderson, Ind./Anderson), who scored 14 points and pulled down eight rebounds. Tyree Coe (Fishers, Ind./ Fishers) added 13 points and Johnson pitched in 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the setback.

EXPERIENCED RETURNERS Senior Torrance Johnson (Chicago Heights, Ill./Chicago Hope Academy) returns for his last year after averaging a team-best 16.7 points per game and pulled down 9.8 rebounds per game. Senior Tyree Coe (Fishers, Ind./Fishers) also returning for his last year at PNW, after averaging 14.7 points per game, which was second on the team and shot 35.7 percent from three. Junior Chandler Spring (Covington, Ind./Covington) returns after averaging 13.3 points per game, while connecting on 39.3 percent of his shots from beyond the arc. Junior Jai Wright (Richmond, Ind./Richmond) averaged 2.5 points per game. Junior Ronald Karenzi (Kampala, Uganda/Rock Creek Community) looks to make an impact for the Pride this season after playing in 11 games last season, while sophomore Lukas Vilkovsky (Kosice, Slovakia) averaged 3.1 points per game for the Pride. Senior Caleb Brannon (Lebanon, Ind./Lebanon) returns after averaging 3.0 points per game during his junior season. 3 MATT BUSH HEAD COACH (SECOND SEASON) M att Bush began his tenure as the head coach of Purdue University Northwest men s basketball program in March of 2016 and begins his second season with the Pride for the season. In his first season, Bush guided PNW to the first round of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Tournament and had two players (Torrance Johnson & Tyree Coe) earn All-CCAC recognition. Previous to PNW, Bush served as the head coach of Purdue North Central for three full seasons, during which he led the program to new heights. The Panthers tied the school record with 15 victories, including a win over Indiana University South Bend, a team that eventually made a run to the CCAC Tournament Championship game, and perennial CCAC power Cardinal Stritch. Junior guard Mike Martin was named to the all-ccac Second Team under Bush s tutelage, averaging 18.0 points per game, which ranked fourth in the league. PNC also opened the campaign on a high note, as the Panthers captured the Moody Bible Big Four Tournament title and Martin was named Tournament MVP. More importantly, Bush implemented a progression of growth and improvement within the Purdue North Central basketball program, taking over a team that had won just 24 games over a five-year span to a win total of 34 in just three seasons. Now the all-time PNC win leader with 39, Bush began his tenure midway through , capturing his first career win in his first game at the helm, over Holy Cross College PNW GAME NOTES MATT BUSH FILE In , the team pushed its victory total to nine, including conference wins over Roosevelt, Trinity International and Judson. In , the Panthers reached HOMETOWN: double digits with 10 victories. That season included HIGH SCHOOL: a victory at Purdue Calumet in the team s final ALMA MATER regular-season contest, and junior forward Clarence Heath was named an all-ccac honorable mention. High School boys basketball COACHING HISTORY team. Bush led the Cherokees to 18 championships, YEARS SCHOOL including six sectional titles, the school s lone regional Cement H.S. (Okla.) crown in and three elite eight appearances in Morgan Twp. H.S (Ind.) Boone Grove H.S. (Ind.) the IHSAA Class A State Tournament. He also spent two Morgan Twp. H.S. (Ind.) seasons as head coach at Cement High School (Okla.), Morgan Twp. H.S. A long-time resident of Northwest Indiana, Bush is a graduate of New Prairie High School in New Carlisle, Ind.
