Last Time Out Ryan Rader shot a perfect 13-of-13 from the field and four players scored in double-figures to lead the Purdue University Calumet men s basketball team to a season-opening, victory on the road at Great Lakes Christian College Thursday, Oct. 29. Junior college transfer LaBradford Seebree (Kokomo, Ind./Kokomo) added 21 points in his Purdue Calumet debut on 7-of-12 shooting to go along with three boards, two assists and five steals, freshman Chandler Spring (Covington, Ind./Covington) had 12 points and junior Darric Obinger (Munster, Ind./Calumet Christian) chipped in 10 points to lead Purdue Calumet s scorers. Scouting the Jaguars Governors State are coming off a win against Purdue North Central on Nov. 2. The Jaguars were led by Jalen Miller and Dalvin Echols who each racked up 21 points in the victory. Rader also ranked in the Top 50 averaging 5.1 defensive rebounds per game and 7.2 total rebounds per contest. Junior big man Danny Paschen (Schererville, Ind./Lake Central) also returns to the Black and Gold this season, after ranking 25th in NAIA Div.2 with 8.2 rebounds per game. The 6-foot-7 forward also ranked 27th in offensive rebounds per game (2.9), 33rd in total rebounds (246) and 45th in defensive rebounds per game (5.2). KEY ADDITIONS The Black and Gold bring in five freshmen along with three transfer students to help round out the Peregrines lineup. LaBradford Sebree (Kokomo, Ind./Kokomo) enters his first season with the Peregrines after two seasons with Lake Michigan College, where he averaged 19.7 points and 4.2 rebounds per game while shooting at a 46.7 percent clip from the field in his second season with the Red Hawks. Other transfer players include Marquette Muhammad (Chicago, Ill./Crete Monee) and Daulton Albanese (Lancaster, Ohio/Lancaster) who will look to make an immediate impact. Muhammad comes to Purdue Calumet after two seasons at Richard J. Daley College, where he averaged 18.2 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game. He was also named to the NJCAA Region 4 All-Region Second Team while leading the city colleges of Chicago in scoring and steals. PEREGRINE LEADERS After shooting a perfect from the field on Oct. 29 in a win over Great Lakes Christian College, senior forward Ryan Rader leads the Peregrines averaging 28.0 points after the first game this season. 7 DAN VOUDRIE HEAD COACH EIGHTH SEASON AT PURDUE CALUMET Dan Voudrie enters his eighth season at the helm of the Purdue Calumet men s basketball program in , after being named the fifth head coach in school history in the fall of The Peregrines completed another solid year in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference in , finishing with a overall mark and a 10-9 mark, good for third place in the South Division and a berth into the CCAC Tournament as a No. 3 seed. Purdue Calumet pulled off major upsets over St. Xavier and No. 15 St. Francis, two teams that eventually shared the CCAC regular season title. Voudrie led the Peregrines to their best season to date under his leadership in , as the squad finished with a overall record and an 11-9 mark in conference play. The 19 wins were the most since the season and the Peregrines winning percentage (.633) was the best mark since the campaign. In , Voudrie led the Peregrines to a mark, finishing sixth in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference. The program s 18 wins were the most for Purdue Calumet since the campaign. The Black and Gold wrapped up the season with a 12-5 mark in the final two months, setting the stage for high expectations in The Purdue Calumet mentor has accrued a overall record during his time at the helm of the program, while seeing a number of his players earn CCAC accolades in his first five seasons. The Black and Gold have had 15 all-conference recipients, 10 league player-of-the-week honorees and one CCAC Freshman-of-the-Year honor during that time. Voudrie has also kept the team actively involved with local youth camps and community outreach, as his student-athletes have participated in the Purdue Calumet Basketball Camp, Share the Rock Basketball Camp, R-Dub Club and Purdue Calumet s Day of Caring and Spring Break Thru programs. His team s efforts off the court helped them garner the CCAC Champions of Character Team Award, becoming the first Purdue Calumet team to receive the honor. The 20-year veteran of the college basketball coaching ranks came to Purdue Calumet from Olivet Nazarene, where he worked under the tutelage of CCAC Hall of Famer Ralph Hodge. Voudrie served as the top assistant and recruiting coordinator for Hodge in his second stint with the Tigers, helping recruit and coach 26 all-conference and three All-American performers in that time. Prior to his time as an assistant at Olivet Nazarene, he held similar positions at Mount Vernon Nazarene University and Indiana Wesleyan University. During his time at IWU, Voudrie was recognized by the Indiana Basketball News as the top recruiter among NAIA assistant coaches in both 2000 and 2001 while helping the Wildcats win 47 games in his three seasons at the school, a 36-game improvement over the previous three-year period. Voudrie has a long-standing reputation for developing players, having recruited and coached 16 All-Americans over the course of his career while helping four players continue their playing career with professional contracts overseas. In Hodge and Mount Vernon Nazarene s Scott Flemming, Voudrie has been mentored by a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Hall of Famer and NAIA Coach of the Year. Along with his extensive coaching background, Voudrie also served as professor in the Indiana Wesleyan and Olivet Nazarene mathematics department. He earned his master s degree in teaching from ONU, after completing his undergraduate work from Bradley University in 1994 with a degree in mathematics. He began his career in college basketball as a manager at Bradley University, after a stint as a walk-on for the Braves. Voudrie spent four seasons as the team s manager, before accepting a graduate assistant position at Olivet Nazarene. His influence at Purdue Calumet stretches beyond the basketball court, as he serves on a number of advancement committees on campus while also actively assisting in a number of regional charitable efforts.
