4 OFFICIAL FOREWORD BY CEV PRESIDENT ALEXANDAR BORICIC CEV Volleyball European Championship - Men August 24-September 3, Dear Volleyball friends, Even though there are still a few months to go, we all look forward to the gigantic Volleyball party we expect will be taking place in later this summer! We share the same excitement and anticipation with millions of fans from all over the world, who are counting the days down to the historic opening match featuring the national teams of and Serbia with more than 60,000 people set to attend this game at PGE National Stadium in Warsaw! Everyone fans, players, media and all stakeholders in our Volleyball family expects EUROVOLLEY POLAND will break new ground and deliver the experience of a lifetime. The expectations are high but we are working closely together with the local organisers in order to deliver a successful tournament and, on top of this, a Volleyball party that will involve and engage the fans on site as well as all those following the competition on TV and on social and digital media. is the perfect place where to host such a terrific Volleyball party their colourful, passionate fans have set the benchmark many times already and all players acknowledge it is a truly unique experience to perform before such a crowd. EUROVOLLEY POLAND will add another chapter to the history of Volleyball in and in Europe as well never before a European Championship match has taken place before a crowd as large as the one expected to gather at PGE National Stadium. On top of this, this tournament will take our sport to the next level especially in terms of entertainment and fan engagement, thus delivering what we call a total Volleyball experience. A real Volleyball fever will soon be mounting across the whole of Europe and even beyond since fans from overseas have already showed an interest in travelling to to witness the Volleyball party of the year! I would like to thank the Polish Volleyball Federation, the authorities from the respective host cities as well as all sponsors and partners for the immense support they are providing to the delivery of this event and for their contribution to the efforts that we are making so that EUROVOLLEY POLAND turns into an unprecedented success! 5 OFFICIAL FOREWORD BY PVF PRESIDENT JACEK KASPRZYK Dear Volleyball Friends, The most anticipated Volleyball tournament in Europe is drawing near. From August 24 till September 3 the eyes of the Volleyball world will be turned to the CEV Volleyball European Championship Men EUROVOLLEY POLAND. Our country has been organizing top-level Volleyball competitions for many years, treating the devoted Polish fans to some amazing sport feasts crowned with the World Championship - Men three years ago. Now Volleyball returns to the PGE National Stadium, with another Opening Ceremony and Match of epic proportions and for the first time in the history of the Old Continent s premier event. This edition of the European Championship is also going to be special for a number of other reasons: for the 30 th time in Europe, for the first time on such scale, for the last time in this formula. I would like to thank the European Volleyball Confederation for trusting us with the organization of such a unique event. My sincere thanks go to the Host Cities of Gdańsk, Szczecin, Katowice and Kraków, their authorities and everyone involved in preparations to the tournament for their commitment and passion for our sport. I also want to thank all EUROVOLLEY POLAND Sponsors and Partners, for their unfailing support. Most of all, I would like to thank our faithful Polish Volleyball fans, whose support has been our greatest strength, and invite them all to the Volleyball event of the year. 14 6. TRANSPORT LOCAL TRANSPORTATION a) TRANSPORTATION BETWEEN HOTELS, HALLS AND AIRPORTS: Transports will be provided by buses and cars. Each team have designated bus. CEV Media Officiers accommodated in other than officials hotels are requested to inform about their readiness to travel by phone to respective persons: Mrs. Anna GUMOWSKA in Gdańsk, Mrs. Kasia BIZUKOJĆ in Warsaw, Mrs. Zuzanna LEKOWSKA in Kraków and Mrs. Monika OIVANEN in Katowice. b) FROM VENUE TO VENUE: Transport from venue to venue depend on distance between the cities will be provided by cars/ buses or charter flights. c) FROM SZCZECIN TO KATOWICE & FROM GDANSK TO KRAKOW & FROM KATOWICE TO KRAKOW: Transport between these cities will be provided by: - charter flights: On 29 th August at 9:15 from Szczecin to Katowice On 29 th August at 9:45 from Gdansk to Krakow - by bus On 1 st September at 10:00 from Katowice to Krakow d) FROM WARSAW TO GDANSK & FROM WARSAW TO KATOWICE: The transportation for teams will be provided by bus, for officials by cars and minibuses. 7. LAUNDRY The Organiser will provide and bear the costs for laundry of the sports uniforms of the teams after each match (for practical reasons not possible after the last match of the tournament). 15 8. MEALS OFFICIALS: CEV Officials and International Referees will be guaranteed three basic meals a day in the hotel s restaurant, from the day of arrival and ending with day of departure. All meals will be served in the buffet style. Time for lunch and dinner will be arranged by themselves in accordance with their duties. Organizer will not cover cost of alcoholic beverages. TEAMS: Athletes will be guaranteed three basic meals a day in the hotel s restaurant, depending on lunch on the day of arrival and ending with breakfast on the day of departure. Teams are going to receive an additional snack in the hotel on every match day (snack means tea/ coffee/ sandwiches/ fruits/ cakes). If team wishes to change the time of meal, the team manager should request this through the team guide. 9. FINANCIAL MATTERS INCLUSIVE EXPENSES COVERED BY ORGANIZERS ORGANIZER: - International & local transport of CEV Officials and Referees - Local transport of teams - Accommodation and meals of CEV Officials, Referees and Teams - CEV officials and Referees visa costs EACH TEAM DELEGATION: - own international transportation - own visa costs - payment for extra persons. Each delegation can be composed of maximum 26 persons (12 to 14 players + 6 officials + Journalist + 5 extra-team officials). Within 13 or 14 players, two liberos must be listed. Team Officials: - the Team Manager (speaking fluent English language) - the Head Coach - the Assistant Coach - the 2nd Assistant Coach - the Medical Doctor (with CEV or FIVB authorization) - the Therapist (with CEV or FIVB authorization) - the Journalist (mandatory) August 20, CEV Volleyball European Championship - Men Page 15 of 58

16 All other delegation members above 21 are considered as extra persons. They will only be accredited when their local travel, accommodation and other necessary expenses are paid in advance by their National Federation to the organizing National Federation. Each team is entitled to nominate max. 5 extra-team officials (using CEV - 05 Form). The price for each extra person/ per day is 250,- EUR per single/ per person, 220,- EUR per double/ per person. Price includes accommodation, meals and local transport. The organizer is covering cost for the Board & Lodging and transportation during the period starting from 22nd August until the day after elimination from the tournament. 10. MEDICAL MATTERS & ANDTI-DOPING CONTROLS MEDICAL SERVICES First Aid and medical treatment will be provided in the competition hall during the competition, as well as in the training hall. Ambulance will be situated in front of the competition hall. ANTI-DOPING CONTROL Anti-doping Control will be conducted under the supervision of the CEV Medical Delegate in accordance with the FIVB Medical Regulations after some matches. 11. MEDIA MATTERS All players are kindly requested to cooperate with media representatives. All players must leave the playing area through the mixed zone, allowing brief interactions with press. All information, including news and tickets, are available in two languages (English and Polish) on the official competition website as well as on the CEV website ( For social media the official hashtag is #EuroVolleyM, please ensure that this is used when posting about the event, along with #Volleyball. We also ask that federations, teams and players also tag the official event accounts when posting, as well as following what is published as they can, namely: Following the line set by last season s Champions League Final Fours, these Final Rounds will see a step change in the focus and coverage from a Communication standpoint. Whilst the CEV fully understands that a player s main priority is to perform, teams must also appreciate that together we must utilise these opportunities for promotion and growth of the sport, as well as of the EuroVolley brand. 17 Around the matches the CEV has a dedicated media team who will be asking teams and specific players to participate in media actions, ranging from more traditional interviews, to funny activities or games. Additionally, on arrival at the venue, coaches will be asked to conduct short interviews for television and social media. While after each match, both teams (including coaching staff), must pass through the mixed zone and we ask that all engage with the attending media. An i-zone (Interaction-Zone) will also be arranged at each venue for use by television and media after teams are changed and before they depart the venue. We ask that teams cooperate fully with this as it is an important time to promote what we are doing. Below you will find an example of how this room will be set-up: Below are the main team media requirements for the event: `Media Meeting`, replacing the press conference. These will be ran at various times throughout the competition to provide a place where accredited media can meet with and interview the coaches and captains. More information will be circulated as necessary. `Social Media Account take overs`, players will be identified to take over and run the CEV EuroVolley accounts answering questions from and interact with the fans. `Media games and actions`, mainly around the team hotel, players will be asked to participate in a wide range of activities that will be caught on camera and released on social and digital media focusing on life away from the court. Whilst some of these will be released during the Final Round, others will be made timeless and will be used in the National Team off season. For some examples of what we are looking to do check out our YouTube channel, especially the videos from the recent Champions League Final Fours. In each case, the CEV media team will make contact with the respective team staff / Team Media Officer to coordinate which players are due to participate in such actions and when these will be conducted. 18 12. TICKETS Each National federation has been contacted by the Organiser and been informed on the number of tickets which have been reserved, namely. Preliminary Round: For the fans: at least 10% of the total seating capacity of the hall (including mobile tribunes) per team/per day, tickets shall be offered at a preferred rate and tribunes be reserved in separate zones For the officials and VIPs of the teams competing/per day: 4 VIP tickets, free of charge and 10 VIP tickets at a preferred rate. The aforementioned tickets shall be reserved until 2 (TWO) months before the start of the EVENT. Past this deadline, the respective remaining unsold tickets are ceded to Organiser. Play-offs and Quarter finals: For the play-offs and quarter finals, the Organiser shall provide the following number of tickets to the teams qualified: For the fans: at least 200 normal tickets per team/per day, tickets shall be offered at a preferred rate and tribunes be reserved in separate zones. For the officials and VIPs of the teams competing/per day: 8 VIP tickets, free of charge and 10 VIP tickets at a preferred rate. The Organiser shall contact the National federation of the qualified teams immediately after the preliminary pool and inform them about the availability of the aforementioned tickets. The participating teams have to inform the Organiser at the latest the day before the playoffs at 6 pm on the number of tickets they would like to purchase and/or reserve from the above contingent. Semi finals and finals: For the semi-finals and finals, the Organiser must provide the following number of tickets to the teams qualified: For the fans: at least 100 normal tickets per team/per day, tickets shall be offered at a preferred rate and the tribunes be reserved in separate zones. For the officials and VIPs of the teams competing/per day: 15 VIP tickets, free of charge and 15 VIP tickets at a preferred rate. The Organiser shall contact the National federation of the qualified teams immediately after the quarter-finals and inform them about the availability of the aforementioned tickets. The participating teams have to inform the Organiser at the latest the day before the semi-finals at 6 pm on the number of tickets they would like to purchase and/or reserve from the above contingent. This request has to be sent to the Organiser by and copy to the CEV in order to avoid any misunderstanding. IMPORTANT NOTES - There will be 10-minutes break between 2 nd and 3 rd set in all matches of the CEV LOTTO EUROVOLLEY. - On 23 rd August there will be a payment day in each city, where officials will receive their per diems and teams will be able to pay for extra persons and extra days in Preliminary Round. Exact hour and place will be communicated later through your guides. - Challenge system will be used during each match - Before the first training there will be portable refrigerator, bidon s basket and bidons prepared in the changing room of each teams. These equipment is for the whole duration of the stay. And must be used during the matches. We kindly ask to give back refrigerators after the tournament. Rest of equipment is free to take away.
