It will be the first visit for the Hounds to the Show-Me State since Pittsburgh still has yet to capture a victory against Saint Louis, drawing twice in 2015 and falling 2-1 at Highmark Stadium in the only head-to-head meeting this season. With two games in hand, the hosts (12th) sit only a spot behind the Hounds (11th) in the Eastern Conference table and five points separate Saint Louis from the eighth spot. Saturday s match presents potentially the last time the Hounds will face a club below them in the table. All final eight matches of the season include opponents currently in the 5-through-10 spots meaning Pittsburgh, currently four points outside of eighth, controls its destiny of sorts in capturing a playoff berth. How much one win changes the complexion of the season. Previously mired in a seven-game winless streak since June 22, the win against Harrisburg snapped that streak, as well as gave the Hounds points in seven of their last nine played (2-2-5). Last weekend s win marked the second time this season the Hounds have scored three goals, as well as the eighth clean sheet of the season. The latter number is only one removed from tying the nine registered in 2011 as the best single-season mark by Hounds club since the current era of the USL began play that same year. Recording six of those eight clean sheets this season has been goalkeeper Trey Mitchell. The California native has continued to impress for the Black and Gold, ranking tied for sixth in the league in shutouts, as well as registering the best single-season total by a Hounds keeper in the past four seasons. On the other end of the field, forward Chevaughn Walsh continues to blossom as a high-power scoring threating. His two tallies against Harrisburg marked the first time a Hounds player - not named Corey Hertzog - recorded multiple tallies in a single game in the past two seasons. Additonally, Walsh s 23 percent conversion rate ranks as the best mark on the club. His performance earned him USL Team of the Week honors as well and he has goals in four of his past nine games played. With his next appearance, captain Kevin Kerr will move into fourth all-time in club appearances. In his fifth year with the Hounds, Kerr continues to be a steady presence in the midfield, leading the team in chances created at 46 and tied for second in assists with three. The former number in particular ranks tied for first in the Eastern Conference.
