Last season saw these clubs face off on three separate occasions, including twice in Bethlehem. The Hounds finished against their in-state foes with their victory coming at home via a 2-1 result thanks to goals from Corey Hertzog and Kevin Kerr. This year s version of the Steel appears to be a far cry from the club that finished 11th in the East in Currently amidst a seven-game unbeaten streak, Bethlehem has rolled its way to fifth in the table and has not lost at home since May 25. While the attack continues to find its footing, the Hounds will likely have to rely on another strong defensive effort on the road this weekend. With six clean sheets to date, the club s shutouts number is tied for third-best (2014) in franchise history since only 2011 (9) and 2013 (7) were better. Additionally, in eight league contests away from Highmark, the Hounds have allowed two or more goals only twice this season. One player hoping to replicate his success from 2016 against Bethlehem will be Corey Hertzog. Tallying two goals against the Philadelphia Union B side in 2016, the Steel were one of four teams Hertzog recorded multiple goals against last season. Hertzog is currently in his longest goalless drought of the year at five games, though the Hounds leading scorer s efforts have not lacked, as he has racked up two assists during this time. Veteran Danny Earls has played an integral role recently at holding midfield, registering two of his three starts this season in the club s past three games. In fact, the Hounds are unbeaten in all three starts made by Earls this year (1-0-2), having allowed only one goal total in the process. If there is any sort of magic goal number worth aiming for to potentially ensure Pittsburgh leaves Goodman Stadium with points, it might be two. The Hounds are unbeaten this season when scoring two or more goals (2-0-1), while they have taken points in only one of six matches (0-5-1) when allowing two-plus scores. Only one point out of a playoff spot currently, the Hounds schedule will do them no favors, as they will not face an opponent with a losing record again until August 5 - a stretch of four games. Pittsburgh is against clubs with winning records this season.
