Many thanks go to everyone who was involved in the painting project over the closed season (grandstand, railings and posts). John Dai Coles Memorial Gates After the sad passing of Caldicot Town Legend John "Dai" Coles last year, the Football club carried out several fund raisers in order to install a permanent memorial for the great man. Caldicot have now managed eleven in the last three games and have only conceded one. The 1st half saw Caldicot with a lot of possession but lacking the killer touch. Croesy, with lone striker, Zac Osbourne, up front were playing more on the counter attack with the emphasis on getting as many men as possible behind the ball to stop Town. Caldicot were trying to get behind Croesy but too many passes were going long as the ball skidded on through to the keeper. Halftime: Croesyceiliog 0-0 Caldicot Town The 2 nd half got underway with Caldicot continuing to pressurise the home defence who were now finding the going tough as time and again the hard working front pair of Thorn and Saunders continuously harassed them with and without the ball. You felt that if Caldicot could get a goal then a few more were likely to follow. At last the breakthrough came and it was through Thorn, who had scored 5 goals in his last two games, he collected the ball and with two defenders close by, the Caldicot forward held them off before tucking a right foot shot into the far corner to make the score 1-0. Soon after the score was 2-0 after a mistake from the home team keeper, who contrived to drop the ball onto the head of Richard Sharratt who was challenging for the ball before seeing it go into an empty net. The home team then had their best spell of the game as they searched for a way back into the game and they came close on a couple of occasions, the best of which was thwarted by a great save from keeper Matt Sandiford. In fairness the big keeper showed his class as although he was not called into action many times during the game, it did show that his level of concentration was there. Thorn was showing his class and added a 3 rd for Caldicot to make it a total of seven goals in his last three games before substitute David Lloyd put the icing on the cake with a 4 th after following in on a shot. The midfielder picked up the rebound and scored what will be one of his easiest goals of his career. Croesyceiliog looked down an out and will be sick of the sight of us having conceding six unanswered goals at Woodland Road last season along with Saturday's four. Simon Crook passing up the line to Jason Thorn Another 2 goals for Thorn, making it 7 in 3 games!

Haverfordwest currently top Welsh League Division 1 having won 8 of their 10 games, scoring 28 and only conceding 9. We are looking forward to a good competitive game played in a good spirit. Regardless of the result though, a warm welcome will be extended to all in the clubhouse after the game. Kevin HAVERFORDWEST COUNTY AFC CLUB HISTORY Haverfordwest Football Club was formed on 7th December 1899 and subsequently became Haverfordwest Town. The early fixtures were friendlies until the Club joined the Pembrokeshire League before the First World War. The Club competes in the Pembrokeshire League to this day. The First Team moved up to the Welsh Football League in 1936 and became known as Haverfordwest Athletic. The Bluebirds were usually in the top flight of the League, but were relegated to the Second Division in They returned as Champions and stormed to the First Division title in During that triumphant season the Bluebirds held Cardiff City s First Division outfit with Gerry Hitchens, Alan Harrington, Ron Stitfall, Colin Baker and Danny Molloy et al to a Welsh Cup 3-3 draw at the old Bridge Meadow in front of over 3,000 on a wet Thursday afternoon. The Blues were led by the legendary former Welsh international and City stalwart, Stan Richards through these famous times. The Club in this period became Haverfordwest County as the town holds county status by ancient charter. In the Blues won the League Cup, were runners up in the League in and , but were relegated in Promotion was won after three seasons followed by the League Championship in losing only five games and also winning the WWFA Senior Cup for the first time, the first of six wins to date. In 1983 the League was restructured into a National Division; only one season in the eight of that system did the Blues finish below sixth including winning the Championship in The Blues also won the League Cup in and were invited to be founder members of the Welsh Premier League in After two seasons in the WPL, Safeway Supermarkets Limited purchased the old Bridge Meadow and part of that deal was the development of a purpose designed stadium behind the old site. The Club had to forfeit its WPL status while this took place and played in the Welsh League for three seasons, twice as Runners Up before returning to the WPL as Champions in For the next few seasons the Club never arose above 10th place and escaped relegation on one occasion by no clubs being available to replace them. The Club then appointed local boy and ex Wrexham favourite Deryn Brace as Player Manager. The Blues had a difficult start and were in the relegation places by mid season. The run-in saw 8 out of 10 matches ending in victory and the same squad finished third in the WPL in and qualification for the then UEFA Cup. County drew Icelandic opponents and lost 4-1 on aggregate. The Bluebirds then finished fourth the next season and reached the semi final of the Welsh Cup. During the season Deryn left the Club and was replaced by ex Manchester United and Cardiff player, Derek Brazil. The team were comfortable in mid table and survived the cut when the WPL was reduced to 12 members.

10 However the Bluebirds finished bottom of the inaugural Super 12 WPL. Derek Brazil has been replaced by Bluebirds stalwart Micky Ellis, former player here and at Pembroke Borough, current Academy Director and First Team Coach for the last 10 seasons.
