UP NEXT Lansing United begins its 2016 campaign with a friendly against the nn rbor Football Club on May 7. It will be Lansing s only match before its National Premier Soccer League season-opener against the Dayton Dynamo on May 13. The nn rbor Football Club is a competitive men s league team that also participates in various tournaments across Michigan. LL-TIME VS. FC United took down the nn rbor Football Club, 4-0, in the first and only meeting between the two teams back on May 2, The friendly was the first-ever match in Lansing history. Matt, Tyler Pasher and Brian Cunningham who sit first, second and third in career points with United, respectively scored for the club, with all four goals coming in the second half. NEW MN T TE ELM Spring rbor native Nate Miller was hired as the second head coach in Lansing United history on Oct. 14, Miller, who has spent three years as head coach at Spring rbor University, was also named the club s general manager. Before joining the coaching ranks, Miller spent four years as a star midfielder at Taylor University in Upland, Ind. SUCCESS WIT SPRING RBOR In Miller s three seasons as Spring rbor head coach, he has led the Cougars to two NCC National Tournament appearances. Miller s Spring rbor team made the national semifinals in his first season before bowing out to the eventual national champions. Miller holds a three-year record of with the Cougars, with the team also achieving its three most successful defensive seasons in school history. 2 MICIGN NPSL DDITIONS Three Michigan-based teams FC nn rbor, Grand Rapids FC and Kalamazoo FC will begin play in the NPSL this season. NEW MIDWEST REGION Lansing United will again compete in the NPSL s Midwest Region, which has been re-structured for the 2016 season. United will play in the region s Great Lakes West division, with the top two teams advancing to the regional playoffs. Joining United in the division are: Detroit City FC, Grand Rapids FC, FC nn rbor, Kalamazoo FC, Michigan Stars and the Dayton Dynamo. QUICK 2015 RECP Lansing finished the 2015 season with a record, going at home. The club got off to a seven match unbeaten streak to start the season, which included victories over Detroit City FC and the Madison 56ers. United also made their first appearance in the U.S. Open Cup, advancing to the second round following a home win in penalty kicks over RWB dria. In the second round of the tournament, United hosted USL side Louisville City FC, falling 1-0.
