One of the all-time greats in UCL and U.S. soccer history, Paul Caligiuri was inducted into the UCL Hall of Fame in. Perhaps the most recognizable figure in U.S. Soccer, Cobi Jones went from walk-on freshman in to UCL Hall of Famer in. Caligiuri was a two-time NSCll-merican ( and ) and the Soccer merica Player of the Year. He led UCL to the NC title, the program s first-ever in soccer. Jones eventually won a scholarship with his outstanding play and blossomed into one of UCL s all-time greats. He was a catalyst to UCL s NC Championship run and was selected by the NSC as a second-team ll-merican in after setting a UCL record with assists. The three-time ll-far West performer was twice named UCL s Offensive MVP (, ) and finished his career with goals and assists. His assists rank second on UCL s career list. Lopez was a four-year letterman from - and a two-year team captain who led his teams to the NC Championship games in, and and to the NC Quarterfinals in. He played in two NC title games and in the NC semifinals during his playing career. fter graduating in with a B.S. in Economics, Schmid became a UCL assistant coach in and in before beginning a most successful -year career as head coach in. Schmid coached the Bruins to a -- record, consecutive post-season appearances and three national titles. He was also an assistant coach on the World Cup team and the head coach of the U- National Team at the World Youth Championships. Many of Schmid s former Bruins have gone on to World Cup and Olympic success, including fellow Hall of Famers Paul Caligiuri, Cobi Jones, and Brad Friedel. In soccer, Storer was named UCL head coach after soccer was elevated to NC status in.
