Edition season Page 11 Round Pendle Hill Under 13/3 WHITE A much better start to the match this week by our boys, showing energy and commitment right from the start. Jordan demonstrated this brilliantly, as Auburn made an early fast break, got through our defenders with only Jordan left as keeper to stop them, he made a great run rushing out to block their shot! Thomas then made an awesome run our from our defensive left side, passing to David who continued our attack up with speed before finding Mukund who took it to the middle and pressured their defence. Chitvan made a strong run soon afterwards, right up the middle from before half-way to continue the pressure on Auburn. They turned it around then, but Aravind timed himself perfectly in defence to win the ball. They pressed again, but Dylan was in perfect defensive position to intercept and clear it out to midfield. We won a free kick, Yash took it, Mukund received and with some clever footwork passed to David who took a shot and though he only had time to use his wrong foot it strikes it well but just edged past the post. Piraveen then made his presence felt midfield, great movement with the ball to move past two defenders and link with Aryan who beat more defenders that were rushing in from everywhere to stop him. Then Piraveen controlled the middle again, winning a free kick, taken by our specialist Yash who made a perfect cross to Athavan who controlled it well and striked it just wide. Auburn then dominated the attack, Kuvam kept them out the first time with a superb run across in defence, it was good to have him back after his holiday. They tried again and were in the clear, but good pressure and timing from Thomas then awesome desperate defence from Dylan, Aravind and Kuvam stopped their shot. Then Athavan made a great cover defensive run to stop another of their attacks! Kuvam then timed a good run, passing to Aryan who jigged around them with great control to win another free kick as he fought off two defenders. Then we were under pressure again, but Jordan made another superb save! After halftime Aravind then showed his keeping skills, timing a perfect run out to block them then making a great catching save! Yash then showed some individual brilliance, as he chased after their midfield as they were trying to slow the game, they passed back to their defence and he kept chasing, then they passed back to their keeper but Yash kept at them and their pas back wasn t fast enough so their keeper had to rush out, Yash charged down the kick and deflection went up and across towards goal and almost made it in! But he wasn t to be denied, as we won another free kick soon afterwards, Yash lined it up and powered it into the goal!

Edition season Page 12 Round U Wanderers In a closely contended game with both teams battling for control of the ball, the Wanderers defeated Pride 2 to 1, with the Wanderers scoring all 3 goals. Man of the match Malachi, demonstrating great agility on the field, showed remarkable skill in defending our goal and taking the ball from Pride. Sean was on the offensive from the start and maintained an impressive pace throughout the game, demonstrating good control of the ball. The first goal for the Wanderers was scored by Jared, who made an impressive long distance shot from near the half way line. In quick succession, Liam weaved his way through Pride, bringing the ball deep into their territory and scored a second goal for the Wanderers. It s great to see the boys supporting each other and celebrating their achievements as a team. Coach Ryan is doing a great job getting the boys to work together and playing to the best of their abilities. Under 18/1s vs Guildford McCredie 3-0 Win This game was a real arm wrestle with no goals scored in the first 5 minutes. Too much kick and chase from both teams which didn t allow much momentum in either direction. Our defence was pretty tight most of the time but still needed some desperate cleaning up from Josh & Chris & Sam. Scott was given more freedom to move up and bolster the mid field and that provided more opportunities for Nick & Tom & Ryan C to run into space. Cameron was tireless on the wing and gave his usual 100%. With 15 minutes to go, Lachlan found the ball behind him in the yard box and turned beautifully to slot it home and break the deadlock. The relief was palpable for the Pendo supporters. The lead was probably deserved, but one goal was certainly not enough. Two minutes later, right on cue, Parth ran straight from the interchange bench and found the ball on his left foot inside the box. He made the goal look easy but only because the execution was perfect. Then the icing on the cake was when Scott was in the right spot to strike home a rebound off the keeper. Our discipline again let us down at times, and we got involved in some rubbish that would have been better to ignore. We looked our best when we used our triangle passes to progress down the middle of the park to maintain possession and push forward as a unit. It was an important win to keep us in contention for the semis.

Edition season Page 13 Match Reports Round Pendo V Kellyville PL Reserves 1-4 (goal Tim Swinnerton) 1 st grade 2-1 (goals Conner Readon, Alex Kuiper) Your writer was absent from the first game just as well, for the mail was that the boys were left in the starting blocks and it was three nil after 10 minutes. We had players going down with injury and a few had run themselves into the ground for the remainder of the match. Although they battled hard, that first period of the game was as ugly as the bloke who works at the abattoir scaring the pigs up the shoot! Suffice to say improvement required. The 1 st grade fixture was a totally different story. Kellyville have been entrenched in Premier League for a number of seasons and the lads knew they had to step up. And step up they did. Although we were down one nil at half time the mood in the dressing room remained upbeat. Again the team showed the required toughness and willingness to do the hard yards and were rewarded soon after with a well taken goal from Conner Stick Man Readon. It was a welcome goal for the Stick Man as well, whose name hadn't appeared on the score sheet since the last lunar eclipse. From there the game seesawed and there were good skills shown by both teams. Both the referee and some of the old Pendo boys looking on from the hill relayed comments on just what a good spectacle the game was. In the end Pendo gradually out muscled and overhauled the opposition to slot another goal, this time courtesy of Alex, (couldn t be bothered shaving), Kuiper. Whilst we're not sure if the beard will remain, if if continues to cover most of his face, everyone will be grateful. Player of the match awards went to Nathan and Corey who were colossal at the back and Nico who ran his heart out. However, all of the squad deserve praise for clawing their way back into the match and the manner in which they did so. After the game the dressing room roared with the team song and the lads left Bino stadium on a real high, placing themselves nicely on the competition ladder, adding further proof that they can be competitive at this level. Well Done Lads!!

Edition season Page 14 Round U Wanderers This week Wanderers played U Green in a highly competitive game. Green had a number of defensively minded players which made them very hard to score against. There tenacity in front of goal was great to watch. Sam, Freddie, Xavier and Emily all had shots saved by goal line blocks and clearances. Green were also lethal on the counter attack and scored two goals in this way. They could of had many more but for goal saving challenges from Jack-Jack and Sam in particular. Wanderers stepped up the intensity with Emily really leading the way, winning the ball back and going on several powerful runs. Sam also managed to grab a couple of goals through winning the ball back just as the counter attack was launched. Then quickly counter attacking back. The goal of the day, however, is down to some great team work. Freddie had an attempt at goal cleared and as the Green team broke Xavier made a great tackle and passed the ball to Nate. Nate drove towards goal and tricked the defenders with a left foot shot. The goal celebration almost as good as the goal. Knee slides and all. Thanks must go to the Green team for such a fun and competitive game. U8 BLUE The boys have now played 5 games and are showing signs of improvement and understanding of their roles in the team. Tomas set the standard in goals in the first half keeping a clean score sheet. His big kicks continued to help us play the ball in the oppositions half. Julian has impressed me the last 2 weeks and received our team man of the match. He is starting to read the play and position himself into space to receive the ball. He has been working hard on his dribbling skills and it is showing in the game. He worked well with Annojan up front who came on in the second half and gave our team his usual attacking flare scoring 3 goals. While everyone loves seeing goals scored as a coach I was most impressed with Annojans through ball to Juilian late in the second half. In the second half Damon was in goals. He was a little hesitant at first but did our team proud making some great saves. It was great to see Bryce encouraging Damon after the opposition scored there only goal. We need to continue to encourage each of our team mates. We need to try our best to stay focused at training to continue seeing results on game days. Scott

Edition season Page 15 Match Reports Round 5 Saturday 14 th May Round Match Report 45/1 s Holroyd Rangers vs Pendle Hill. -1 Loss Once again the sun shone but it didn t help us as we were completely out played today our biggest loss ever in playing in both 35 s or 45 s. A black day for the Mighty 45 s at Guildford West Sports Ground we started with a bare eleven which didn t help but, no excuses, we were well beaten by a much better and fitter team. We were short on numbers with Macca, Sparkles and Sponge out injured. The Doc was on marathon duty, Hammo was a no show, Carbon was again arriving late due to his coaching commitments, it was Spider s week off, Perry was not 100% but later played in goal and Taxi arrived late as he thought it was a 3.00 pm kick off. However, as I said, we had no excuses and the old legs just couldn t keep up and we played badly with little communication. It didn t help our cause that we once again we had no official referee and their club referee wasn t as fair as he could have been with at least three of their goals offside, two penalties not awarded when Turn and Anthony were fouled in the penalty area. It is extremely hard when pay are fees, the same as everyone else and the 45 s seem to be the last to ever receive a referee. There were two games on each field that afternoon at Guildford referee but the almost extinct being known as the referee was not in sight. With our bare 11 we kick off having lost the toss. With our make shift starting eleven we are soon behind the eight ball and are two goals down pretty quickly. The Marquee was making his usual nuisance of himself but rarely touched the ball although he did attract two markers on several occasions. He was feeling the heat and the fact that he is old, past it and very unfit. Perry had kitted up and exchanged with the Mullet between the posts. Whilst his movement was restricted a little this allowed for the Marquee to have a rest and get some much need water into his body. The Mullet appeared to enjoy his run on the field and was working hard to try and get us back in the game. Anthony collides with their keeper and is hurt in the exchange; sportingly Holroyd kick the ball out so he can get some attention. We were a tad slack in marking and it was 3-0 to Holroyd. We are just playing badly with little structure or purpose. Carbon arrives and is soon on the field doing his stuff at left full back. We make a mess of a pass to the keeper and the ball pops around like a pin ball machine. It comes back and id hammered home for their fourth goal. Fortunately we are spared more pain for now as the half time whistle is blown.

Edition season Page 1 Match Reports Round 45/1 cont. Taxi has arrived and takes his place for the second half. However we start badly and slack marking results in a simple tap in for 5-0. With Taxi starting to put some good passes away we are playing so much better With some good aggression and willingness to win the ball Taxi lays off a good pass to the Mullet who gets the ball away to the Hobo who runs hard and gets a shot away which bounces back off the keeper and goes to Empty who makes no mistake and puts it away for a good goal. If only we played that well all of the game. 5-1 but that is just a little reprieve for what was to come. Taxi has a shot from distance and it just goes over. Empty has a good solid run and crosses the ball to Toey who shoots and it sails over the bar. The Maestro is brought down by an over aggressive opposition player and the Italian blood simmers as he puts together some good passes from the restart a good pass into their penalty area comes to no avail. Shawky stuffs up and loses the ball and from the mistake they score. At -1 our heads drop again and we are well and truly beaten. A Holroyd attacker is some 10 metres offside and at first the referee allows play to continue and he puts the ball in the back of our net. Fortunately our complaints and appeals for common sense and fair play prevailed and the opposition told him to give the offside. Shawky stuffs up again and they break away to score again for the final score of -1. Perry tried vainly as our stand in keeper but it just wasn t our day. We played a little better as a team in the second half but the old legs struggled on a warm day. We need to concentrate 100% for all of the game, get fitter, communicate better, cover for our team mates and come back to defend when needed! The Marquee s man of the match was again the Hobo who never gave up trying all game and whose aggression helped us score our one and only goal. In second place on the day was Empty and third place was Toey all giving good displays. The Stuff Up Shirt goes to the whole team for a terrible day s effort and our worse defeat for as long as anyone can remember. Thanks to Kelli, Debbie, Carol, Chris and Meryl for coming and supporting us this week. Next week (Round ) is a bye so enjoy your weekend off, get those injuries fixed and be ready to fire for Round 8 s game against Toongabbie on Saturday 28 th May 201 at Girraween Park, Toongabbie with the Kick Off at 3.00 pm The Hobo Man of the Match
