Caminetto underwent a veterinary examination behind the gates and was passed suitable to race. Caminetto again underwent a veterinary examination after the race which failed to reveal any abnormalities. Due to a malfunction with the barriers, a manual start took place. Downalatte was slow to begin (two lengths). Special Girls jumped away awkwardly, shifted in abruptly and tightened Caminetto in onto Spirit Of Heaven (NZ) resulting in Caminetto losing ground. Approaching the 800m Miralago had to be checked off the heels of Critical Angel. From approaching the 600m until the 500m Star Fashion raced tight between Special Girls and Spirit Of Heaven (NZ), which was improving to the outside of Star Fashion. L Nolen (Miralago) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137a, the careless riding being near the 300m he rode his mount out when not sufficiently clear of Special Girls resulting in that filly having to be eased to avoid the heels of Miralago. L Nolen had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period to commence at midnight August 31 and to expire at midnight September 6, a total of six race meetings (six provincial). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account L Nolen s guilty plea and good record and that the incident qualified for the low range. Passing the 400m Special Girls had to be eased when tightened for room between Critical Angel (NZ) and Star Fashion, due to both horses shifting ground slightly. Rounding the home turn and in the straight until near the 150m Critical Angel (NZ) had difficulty obtaining a clear run. P Moloney, rider of Spirit Of Heaven (NZ), advised that he was instructed that if there was not a lot of pace in the race to stride forward, and for this reason he elected to go forward three wide from the 800m. Race 2 SPORTINGBET SPRINT SERIES HEAT 1 HANDICAP - 1000 metres:

S Baster was notified to exercise more care when shifting ground in future. Formidable raced wide without cover. In the straight Balaclava Lady hung in under pressure. In the straight Vain Queen had a tendency to race greenly and lay in under pressure. M Walker (Balaclava Lady) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137a, the careless riding being that approaching the 200m he failed to straighten his mount when not sufficiently clear of Flash Of Doubt thereby tightening that horse in onto Daylight Second resulting in that horse being checked. M Walker had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period to commence at midnight August 31 and to expire at midnight September 9, a total of nine race meetings (one metropolitan, eight provincial). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account M Walker s guilty plea and good record, the fact that Balaclava Lady was laying in and that the incident was in the mid-range. Over the last 100m Flash Of Doubt, which had been making ground, was then held up for clear running and as a result went to the line not fully tested. B Melham, rider of Mybenz, advised that he was instructed to ride the mare quietly in the early stages over the 1000m trip from its wide barrier. L Stojakovic had her license to ride in races suspended for a period to commence at midnight August 31 and to expire at midnight September 12, a total of twelve race meetings (two metropolitan, ten provincial). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account L Stojakovic s guilty plea and good record and that the incident qualified for the higher end of the mid-range. B Prebble (Fast n Rocking) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137a, the careless riding being that passing the 100m he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of Miracles Of Life thereby tightening that filly in onto Prince Harada resulting in both Miracles Of Life and Prince Harada having to be checked. B Prebble had his license to ride in races suspended for a period to commence at midnight September 1 and to expire at midnight September 13, a total of twelve race meetings (two metropolitan, ten provincial).
