1 P.O. Box 804, Bellville Newsletter AGM March 14: Thank you to all the members that joined us at the AGM. We managed to easily achieve a quorum and allow the AGM to proceed. The main issue facing the club was the long serving committee members and whether we could sustain a committee going forward without the participation of club members. It was agreed that club members should participate in the committee and make a commitment to help the club in this role. Without a committee there can be no structure and without structure the club will in all probability fold. Please feel free to contact a committee member listed below and avail yourself to join the committee and help the club achieve its potential. Early in February 2018 we were given an invitation to join their Italian day festival and bring our beautiful vehicles to show and park on the estate for the day. This is our second year participating and it did not disappoint and neither did our club members! We had over 80 members book and in excess of 50 Alfa Romeo models arrived on the day. The selection ranged from the old to the very new a Giulia QV Sport edition, a truly magnificent beast. We left Parow clubhouse in convoy and drove the N1, through to the R300 before turning onto the N2 for a really spirited ride through to Somerset West. What a beautiful view in one s side-mirror to see a convoy of Alfa Romeo s in full flight. A short stop at the local BP to collect our slower members and then through Sir Lowry s Village and up into the hills to our destination at Idiom Wine Estate. The day was spent talking cars and taking in the stunning views that surround you. Food was plentiful and wine was in abundance. We took time to taste what was on offer and some left with boxes of the good stuff. Our regalia stand attracted good business both from club and locals and we managed to sell plenty. This makes our regalia officer Giorgio very happy. In general a good day was had by all and next year, if invited could be even better. Thanks to all that participated and Angelo for acting as the go between and Wanda for collecting the names for the day. WARREN BROGDEN MEMBERS SECRETARY

4 New Die cast/ Resin models for the collector: Seeing that we are entering the Formula One season I thought we might look at some of the models currently on offer or that would be available in the next coming months. The model market has really come alive with new Alfa s on offers. Looksmart is a model company which has been around for quite some time bringing miniature models of yesteryear and present for all to enjoy in their homes. These models are so beautiful they could only come from Italy almost as if they were made in the original manufacturer s factory. Looksmart have the following Formula One1:18 scale resin models on offer pictured below. These beauties unfortunately do not come cheap at around R3100 before any postage or customs are added. And this is also dependant on the exchange rate at the time. Trust me if you see the quality and paint work on these beauties it is worth every cent. 7 2018 sees the return of Alfa Romeo to the British touring car scene. HMS Racing will be entering the 2018 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship and will be driven by three times race winner Rob Austin. The race car was first shown at the Autosport International show in January. The team will be backed by the dealer network in the UK. Bar a few niggles the team had a good shake down at Donnington and are looking very positive. I am sure Alfisti across the world will be rooting for them.
