We are fortunate to be blessed with one of the friendliest, most welcoming and yet fastest and most competitive club series in the UK. No major changes are planned for 2016 other than some off field improvements with the introduction of our own Race & Hospitality Centre at every round. This family friendly circuit infrastructure will provide breakfast and lunch for drivers, guests and sponsors. Some tweaks to the points structure, simplification of some of the regulations and a unique start procedure to allow multi class racing to operate in a better way for all drivers are the other changes but we are happy that consistency, fairness and accessible costs are the route to long term full grids. In addition to these there is a trip to the legendary Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium and the home classics of Oulton Park and two different Snetterton configurations. We are very proud that with the support of MSVR we really do have what is probably the best club racing calendar in the UK. As a series we have always sought to provide a straightforward path from track days into racing and this is something that we want to continue. Whether you have spent years doing track days in an Elise or you ve never set foot in a Lotus or a track day we believe that our series is the ideal place to start and progress your race career. 4 Lotus Cup Production Lotus Cup SuperSport Launched in 2011, Lotus Cup is aimed at drivers who want all the benefits of a championship in a fair, safe and social environment, whilst driving arguably the most iconic of all British marques. The production class features cars from the last 20 years of Lotus Production and still featured virtually every variant winning multiple rounds proving that this really is a drivers championship - an S1 from 1997, an S2 from 2005 and an S3 from 2014 all won races last season. The overall winner will become an MSA recognised champion. Races are both sprint and mini-endurance format, with a combination of 30-minute double header events and single 60 minute races with a pit stop. The points structure and race format is designed to allow two drivers to share a car if required, reducing individual costs. The Brands Hatch Lotus Festival event features a massive 130 minutes of track time with three races over the two-day format. Races take place on the UK s best circuits, including Silverstone GP and Brands Hatch GP, whilst an overseas round provides the chance to compete at Spa-Francorchamps. Previous champions include James Little and current Supersport driver Adam Gore. The production class cars are very cost effective to run and there are a large number of teams in the paddock proving support based literally all over the UK ensuring competitive support and preparation costs and convenience. These highly durable and long lasting cars still provide exceptionally close racing and whilst teams exist there are plenty of owner drivers and at least one competitor in 2016 plans to drive his race car to the circuit!! When you bear in mind this class is still capable of sub 2:30 at Silverstone GP and sub 54s at Brands Hatch Indy and they are racing on road legal performance tyres, the Avon ZZR which have resulted in longer life, lower costs and faster lap times for competitors since their introduction three years ago. The championship features a social environment for which the series are renowned, with a hospitality area providing a social hub for both drivers, families, sponsors and their guests. 5 Lotus Elise Trophy The Elise Trophy was started by LoTRDC in 2007, with the intention of providing a safe and social environment in which drivers could graduate from track days to racing. In the following years it has introduced well over 100 enthusiasts to the world of competition, providing packed grids and entertaining action from day one. It has provided debuts for former F1 commentator Jake Humphrey, and Land Speed Record Holder Wing Commander Andy Green OBE BA RAF. The series has also provided a fun environment for established racers, either looking for a club racing fix, or as a stepping stone to greater achievements. Both Ginetta GT Supercup competitor Rob Boston and BTCC drivers Warren Scott & Jack Goff took part in the series before graduation and the series often sees former Lotus F1 Driver Martin Donnelly on the grid recently in 2015 he competed with his son Stefan in the Production Class of the Lotus Cup Championship. with each other particularly during the first lap of what are very busy grids. Whether the cars are Rover or Toyota powered, the performance balanced regulations place the emphasis on driver ability this was clearly witnessed in 2015 with cars spanning two decades taking race wins and championship titles! Races take place on the UK s best circuits, including Silverstone GP and Brands Hatch GP and an overseas round provides the chance to compete at Spa-Francorchamps. Elise Trophy races run to a sprint format, with 20 or 30 minutes of qualifying followed by two 20 minute races or two 30 minute races, the second of which features a reverse- top-ten grid. The championship features a social environment for which the series are renowned, with a hospitality area providing a social hub for both drivers and their guests. Events take place both as dedicated Elise Trophy rounds and alongside Lotus Cup events. As the cars are running to the same regulations for normally aspirated Elise s and Exige as the Production class in the Lotus Cup Championships competitors can enter and compete for both championships. 6 LOTUS CUP PRODUCTION CHAMPION 2015 James Little We caught up with James after the end of the season, in only his second season of Lotus Racing he took the title with a little bit of help from co-driver and instructor Andrew Bentley Lotus Cup Production Champion congratulations. How much did it mean to you to take the championship win? Thank you. It was a real season of ups and downs but to win a championship in only my second season racing was phenomenal, pretty cool really! I know this may sound clichéd, but as my 18 year old son, the motorsport engineer to be tells me, I was only the monkey holding the steering wheel! This really is a team victory and thanks go to Greg, his team at Hangar 111 and my son, Jake, for keeping the car running so well, Andrew Bentley for speeding me up, my wife, Lisa, for encouraging me to do it and covering at work so I could, my family for their support and our sponsors! 3. Who did you consider your biggest rival during the season any memorable battles that you can think of? There were a number of rivals through the season but Stu and Dunny (Stuart Ratcliff & Anthony Dunn finished second in the championship) were either just ahead or just behind the whole time. On track, there were a couple of good battles, a memorable one was about half a dozen laps in the wet at Donington dicing for 2nd, 3rd and 4th with a V6 car thrown in to the mix too. Dicing for 1, 2 and 3 at Rockingham before the gearbox tripped me up was pretty good too. 4. At what point did you think hmmmm... I could win this? We felt we would have a chance right from the start to be honest but that chance would probably be shared with three or four other cars. As the season panned out there were a few occasions when I thought, yes, it could be me, but they were usually followed by a problem! I guess the time I really thought it might actually happen was after winning at Silverstone with 45kgs in the car. 5. What got you started in motor racing? I have always loved speed and used to do track days on motorbikes in my 20s. Work prevented me from racing then but I started taking cars on track a couple of years ago and my wife suggested I really ought to try racing so she has to take the credit or the blame whichever way you look at it!! 6. Who is your motor racing hero and why? Not a car driver I m afraid! I never tired of watching Kevin Schwantz on his Suzuki 500 GP bike. I remember him exiting Coppice at Donington, bike leaning over, front wheel in the air, rear wheel spinning and tyre smoking, thinking this guy is unreal, how can that be possible! In a car, I ought to say my team mate and guru Andrew Bentley though!!!! 7. Tell us a little bit about your race car how long have you had it, what spec is it etc? Having hired an S1 in my first year racing, I decided I needed to own my own car for season 2. After seeking advice from a number of knowledgeable people (SD included!), I was lucky enough to buy Lotus prototype Elise Cup R in November The spec. of the car is standard but we have fitted JRZ dampers and slightly stiffer springs. The beauty of the series is all cars are supposed to be pretty evenly matched so there really is not much you can do. 8. Any words of advice for new drivers looking to come and race a Lotus? When I took my ARDS test, the examiner asked me what I was planning to race and he spoke really highly of the Lotus Cup and Elise Trophy. As a relative novice, I can only really say he was right to do so, I have had great fun and met and raced against some great people. Generally the racing is clean and the paddock a friendly place to be. If you need help and guidance you will find it and out on the track whether you finish at the back, the front or anywhere in between there will be someone to enjoy a battle with! 1. Tell us a little bit about yourself age, where do you live, what do you do for a living, any family, other hobbies? I am 48, an old man really! I live just outside Ipswich in coastal Suffolk where I run Priory Park, an exclusive 100 acre estate home to holiday lodges, caravan holiday homes and a residential park home village. I am married with two teenage children and with family, work and a little motorsport struggle to find any extra hours in a day but when I do, I enjoy the odd round of golf and try to keep fit! 8 9

7 LOTUS CUP SUPERSPORT CHAMPION 2015 Adrian Hall 6. Who is your motor racing hero and why? James Hunt. He had the best life, all the girls and all the cars! He was one of the original pure raw racing drivers, who could get in anything and make it win, and I feel I can relate in this aspect. 7. Tell us a little bit about your race car how long have you had it, what spec is it etc? The MSC Exige was built from the ground up for Lotus Cup UK 2012 Championship. It s engine specification started as a stock 2ltr Honda Engine, and has slowly developed into a full race bred 2.2ltr built engine, on a throttle body setup and dry sump. After the first season, we decided to make the move from standard h pattern to a 6 speed Sadev sequential. Over the course of the seasons, we made improvements to the aerodynamics and various other parts of car. 8. Any words of advice for new drivers looking to come and race a Lotus? Choose a class that best suits your driving ability and budget, and come take part in the best Lotus racing season the UK has to offer! 1. Tell us a little bit about yourself age, where do you live, what do you do for a living, any family, other hobbies? I m Adrian hall, 45 and live in Maidstone. I work as a technician for Maidstone Sports Cars, and have a passion for the classic Ford scene having owned the same Mk2 Escort since I turned 18. I love to build and work on all race and performance vehicles Lotus Cup Supersport Champion congratulations. How much did it mean to you to take the championship win? We have been in Lotus Cup UK for 4 years, and narrowly missed out on last year s overall championship win, so this year we were on a mission to bring back gold! 3. Who did you consider your biggest rival during the season any memorable battles that you can think of? Points wise, it was Ken Savage. But the battles were all fought between me and the Exige V6 s. I was determined to prove our 19 year old car still had a lot of fight left in her. 4. At what point did you think hmmmm... I could win this? After coming home from Spa with maximum points. In previous years we had struggled to bring a car home due to various issues, so that was the real turning point where I thought wow, we could pull this off! 5. What got you started in motor racing? What probably got me started was my first experience of motor racing. Witnessing James Hunt take the British Grand Prix at Brands Hatch, seeing the lifestyle, the cars and the noise! What a noise! How could anyone not fall in love with it all?!?!? 10 11

8 LOTUS ELISE TROPHY CHAMPION 2015 Luigi Mazza We caught up with Luigi after the end of the season, a series regular for some years now Luigi had a sabbatical in 2014 whilst he focused on his coffee business he returned in explosive style at Snetterton and never looked back fighting off some serious competition from Production Champion James Little, long time friend and adversary on track Craig Denman and the emerging talent of Ryan Savage. Luigi is here on the top step at Brands Hatch flanked by Ryan Savage and James Little. 4. At what point did you think hmmmm... I could win this? Once I knew I secured a pretty reasonable lead in the points table but you can never be too complacent because in racing anything can happen and it normally does in the form of reliability resulting in a DNF! That s all it takes to the loose points and a strong position so I was conscious to race consistently and maintain the lead. 5. What got you started in motor racing? I got started with Karting from a fairly young age! I loved watching rally cars but then moved to circuit driving for more of the wheel to wheel stuff. I absolutely love close combat competition. 6. Who is your motor racing hero and why? Ayrton Senna because he applied himself seriously without the influence of his fame. He was a pure racer. 7. Tell us a little bit about your race car how long have you had it, what spec is it etc? It s a production S1 Elise. I bought a tidy road car in 2010 and had it built up by Essex Autosport. I plan to keep it forever as I love its simplicity. 8. Any words of advice for new drivers looking to come and race a Lotus? Start out with no expectations and just enjoy yourself. Track time is key. Get accustomed to the cars which are glorious to drive and then take things more seriously if you want. 1. Tell us a little bit about yourself age, where do you live, what do you do for a living, any family, other hobbies? I m Age 43, I run a London based upmarket fast food/ coffee bar company from Westminster. In my spare time I enjoy anything fast slightly dangerous and competitive! At the moment that includes snowboarding, mountain biking, flying and of course my favourite activity motor racing! Lotus Elise Trophy Champion congratulations. How much did it mean to you to take the championship win? A very satisfying and rewarding achievement that I know I will be proud of for many years to come. It s not easy to commit to every round throughout the year and there are so many things that can get in the way of your focus and attendance and for obvious reasons you can t miss too many rounds! 3. Who did you consider your biggest rival during the season any memorable battles that you can think of? Craig, James, Daniel and Ryan I would consider to be my biggest concerns during the year although I can honestly say all of the top 10 are quality drivers. Winning by just thousandths at Donington and beating Daniel to the line I have to say was quite satisfying however I must state that most of the memorable race time out on circuit comes from dicing with Craig. We have utmost respect for each other and he has awesome car control!

11 LOTUS ELISE TROPHY & LOTUS CUP UK Car Choices Lotus Elise S2 111R The 111R is a Toyota 2ZZ powered car, also produced as the Elise R and this class of car also includes the original normally aspirated Exige which is essentially the same car with Exige S2 bodywork for those who prefer the winged aesthetics of the Exige. The 2ZZ engine runs to around 192bhp at the flywheel and the cars must run a standard C64 gearbox and engine with very limited modifications. They must weigh 915kgs with the driver on board at the end of the race. They are slightly more expensive buy but generally cheaper to run and easier to look after with cars starting at around 17k g oing up to 30k. As driven by: Craig Denman, Seth Walpole, Jason McNulty, Mathias Raddestock A handy guide to the various car options for those thinking of racing and to help spectators discern between the different cars on the grid. This is a list of the most common options. Virtually all options can be found as arrive & drive rental cars from the various teams and a number of cars are generally found for sale on the Lotus Cup website, Lotus Cup Europe website or the Racecarsdirect website. T hey run a modified Rover K Series engine with relatively free regulations and are expected to weigh a minimum of 825kgs with the driver on board at the end of a race. The generally have around bhp at the flywheel and must run the original gearbox with standard or close ratio options. The S1 won the 2015 Elise Trophy Title in the hands of Luigi Mazza. As driven by: Luigi Mazza, Dan Rowbotton, Steve Edwards, Paul Baker, Chris Perkins Lotus Elise S2 (K Series) Again typically cars are 12-15k sometimes higher for a well prepared competitive car. They run a modified Rover K Series engine with relatively free regulations and are expected to weigh a minimum of 825kgs with the driver on board at the end of a race. The generally have around bhp at the flywheel and must run the original gearbox with standard or close ratio options. As driven by: John LaMaster, Peter Mansfield, David Stead, Mike Perkins There are almost limitless options for the Supersport class with significant modifications allowed to older cars but in general the winning cars have either been a Lotus 2-Eleven, a Honda transplant S1 Elise or Exige or the latest specification factory Exige Cup R Lotus Exige V6 Cup R Arguably the most competitive class in 2015 this is another car that pretty much has stickers and a transponder added by the teams although with freedom of set up and choice of brake discs, ABS and factory supplied optional anti roll bars there is some scope for modification. All of the cars running in the UK are competing with the optional Xtrac sequential gearbox which is paddleshift controlled and the cars have traction control and a larger rear wing than even the Evora GT4 has. The Exige is a straightforward car to get used to driving and proved to be exceptionally reliable in Cars are available from around 60k with a new V6 Cup R costing 85k e x taxes from the factory. As driven by: Adam Gore, Adam Balon, Phillip Britten, Bob Drummond, Adam Knight Lotus Elise S3 Cup R The newest and most expensive Elise racecar available to by direct from the factory and can be literally taken straight to the race track just add a transponder and some decals and they are ready to race.
