1 Banks Summer Baseball & JBO We belong to a statewide organization called Junior Baseball Organization (JBO) and follow their specific guidelines to provide each child, regardless of skill level, an opportunity to compete in baseball against other players of equal skill and grade. 2 Player Evaluations Each spring in late February or early March, player evaluations are conducted The evaluation process helps us determine skill level so all kids are competing against teams equal in skill and age Players are evaluated for a variety of skills, including fielding flyballs and grounders, throwing, and hitting Evaluation scoring is independently determined by the Banks HS baseball coaching staff Players are assigned to a level in late March based on the evals conducted If needed to help fill teams due to player count, we also include a small selection of younger players to play at a higher division/level Evaluations are conducted and based on their annual merits, so if a player played American (in the Senior, Junior, or Midget level) the previous season, it is not guaranteed that he/she will play in American the next year- each player must be evaluated annually for proper team/level placement in the new season What to bring to Evaluations Baseball Glove Helmet Baseball Bat (bats will be available at the tryouts for the players to use Shorts or Sweats Tennis Shoes

3 Senior level Competitive level baseball This level is for 7th & 8th graders and normally has ~25 players The JBO matrix for our size program requires one American (higher level) and one National team Practices: 4-5 practices per week starting in Mid-to-late March Games: 18 league games on weeknight evenings starting in late April and going through early July. Travel to surrounding towns for games will be required. Tournaments: at least 2-3 (1 home/2 away) Districts: early-mid July (if qualified) Est 2019 National July 12-July 14 Est 2019 American July 12-July 14 State Championships: mid-to-late July (if qualified) Est 2019 National July 18 July 21 Est 2019 American July 18-July 21 Bases are 90 apart, pitching distance is 60 6 Cleats (metal cleats not allowed)

4 Junior level Competitive level baseball This level is for 5th & 6th graders and normally has ~25 players The JBO matrix for our size program requires one American (higher level) and one National team Practices: 2-4 practices per week starting in early April Games: 16 league games on weeknight evenings starting in early May and going through early July. Travel to surrounding towns for games will be required. Tournaments: at least 3 (1 home/2 away). Districts: early-mid July (if qualified) Est 2019 National July 5 July 7 Est 2019 American July 12-July 14 State Championships: mid-to-late July (if qualified) Est 2019 National July 11 July 14 Est 2019 American July 18-July 21 Bases are 70 apart, pitching distance is 50 Helmet Cleats (metal cleats not allowed)

5 Midget level Competitive level baseball This division is for 3rd & 4th graders and normally has ~35 players The JBO matrix for our size program requires one American (higher level) and two National teams Practices: 3-4 practices per week starting in early April Games: 14 league games on weeknight evenings starting early May and going through late June. Some travel to surrounding towns for games will be required Tournaments: at least 2 (1 home/1 away) Districts: early July (if qualified) Est 2019 National July 5 July 7 Est 2019 American July 5 July 7 State Championships: mid July (if qualified) Est 2019 National July 11 July 14 Est 2019 American July 11 July 14 Bases are 60 apart, pitching distance is 45 Cleats (metal cleats not allowed)

6 Jr Midget Recreational level baseball This division is for 1st & 2nd graders and normally has ~35 players Players are assigned to each team evenly based on the evaluation results Practices begin: 1-2 practice per week starting in early April Games: 1-2 games on weeknight evenings starting early May and going through late June Tournaments: 1 home tournament during the Banks Midget Tournament Cleats (metal cleats are not allowed)

7 T-ball Recreational level baseball This division is for Pre-K and Kindergarteners and normally has ~40 players There are no tryouts or evaluations, and teams are chosen by program coordinators Each team generally consists of 6-8 players, as smaller teams allow for additional practice and game repetition to enable quicker skill growth and more fun for the younger players Practices begin: 2 practices per week for the first few weeks starting in early April. Times and days of the week are dependent on coach and field availability. Games start: Approx 12 games starting in early May and going through late June. Plan for 1 game per week played in Banks, Roy, or Verboort. Cleats or Tennis Shoes Baseball Pants or Sweats (Jeans and Shorts are not recommended)
