1 THE PIRATES...finished the regular season winning 11 of their final 15 games...were a season-high 35 games over.500 (95-60) following their victory on 9/26; the first time the Bucs have been 35 games over.500 since the 1972 team finished with a record ( + 37)...Won a season-high eight straight games on two occasions (6/12-18 and 9/19-26)...Had the best record in the Major Leagues from May 9 thru the end of the season (85-48,.639)...Scored a season-high 13 runs on 8/9 vs. Los Angeles (NL)...Collected a season-high 21 hits in their 9-3 victory vs. Detroit on 7/1 (most hits in a game since also recording 21 on 5/13/14 at Colorado). FOR THE RECORD: For just the sixth time in their 129-year history (since 1887), and for the first time since 1991 (98-64), the Pirates won 98 games in a season...the Bucs produced the second-best record in the Major Leagues in 2015 behind St. Louis (100-62) and have also done so over the last three seasons...in that time, the Pirates have posted a record (.576), trailing only the Cardinals ( ,.591). WILD CARD GAME: For the third straight season the Pirates hosted the Wild Card Game...Chicago s Jake Arrieta tossed a five-hit shutout as the Bucs dropped a 4-0 decision at PNC Park on 10/7. SRO: The crowd of 40,889 that witnessed the 2015 Wild Card Game is the largest ever to see a baseball game at PNC Park, topping the 40,629 that attended the 2014 Wild Card Game...During the regular season the Pirates posted a 17-4 record when playing in front of their 21 sold out games. #BUCTOBER: For the third straight year the Bucs clinched a postseason berth on September 23, doing so this year in a 13-7 win at Colorado...Clinching in game #152 this year marked the earliest the Bucs have done so since 1991 (game #150). A RETURN ENGAGEMENT: Since divisional play began in 1969, this marked the eighth time in club history in which Pittsburgh made back-to-back appearances in the playoffs (also , , , , , and )...Since the first World Series was played in 1903, the Bucs have now reached the postseason in three consecutive years on three occasions ( , and ). GUIDING THE SHIP: In his five years as Pittsburgh s manager, Clint Hurdle has posted a record...he picked up career win #900 this year on June 12 in a 1-0 victory over the Phillies in 13 innings...hurdle s 431 wins in a Pittsburgh uniform rank seventh all-time; he passed Hall-of-Famer Bill McKechnie (409 wins) on August 26...His 965 Major League wins rank fifth among active managers. HOME SWEET HOME: The Pirates went at home in 2015, the most home wins since 1992 (53-28)...This marked the third straight season in which the Bucs have reached the 50-win mark at PNC Park - the first time in franchise history that Pittsburgh has had a streak of this length...the only other team with 50 or more home wins in each of the last three seasons is the Cardinals, who have done so in each of the last four seasons...only the Cardinals (160) have won more games at home over the last three seasons than the Pirates (154). FAN-TASTIC: The Pirates established a single-season attendance record (2,498,596), breaking the mark of 2,442,564 set last season...the Bucs also posted 21 sellouts this season, two shy of the club record set in 2013 and matched in SERIES-LY SPEAKING: The Pirates went in series played at PNC Park during the regular season and overall...the Bucs posted 14 series sweeps, ranking second behind the Mets (15) in Major League Baseball. WHAT A RELIEF: Pittsburgh s bullpen posted the lowest ERA (2.64) among all Major League teams in 2015 and the club s 31 wins in relief rank second in the Majors behind the Cubs (37)...Since the beginning of the 2013 campaign, Pittsburgh s relievers lead all National League teams in ERA (2.90) and have also won a Major League-leading 94 games (the next closest team is Kansas City with 91). ON THE MOUND: The Pirates ranked second in the National League with a 3.21 ERA in 2015, the club s lowest single-season ERA since the Bucs led the league with a 3.11 mark in Over the last three seasons, Pittsburgh s 3.32 team ERA ranks second among all Major League teams behind the St. Louis Cardinals (3.29). IT S NEVER OVER: Pittsburgh s 43 come-from-behind wins ranked second in the Majors this season, trailing only the St. Louis Cardinals (44)...The Pirates also produced 11 walkoff victories this season, the most by the club since 1982 (also 11). ROAD WINS: The Pirates went away from home this season, winning 10 of their last 12 games and 12 of their last 16...They also finished the campaign by winning a season-best five consecutive road series...the 45 road wins by Pittsburgh in 2015 were tied with St. Louis for the second-most in MLB behind the Cubs (48) and the most for the Corsairs since the 1991 team posted a road record. HOW MAY WE ASSIST YOU?: The Pirates led all National League teams with 38 outfield assists this season - the first time the Bucs led the league since 2009 (45)...Starling Marte led all N.L. outfielders with 16 assists, the most by a Pirates outfielder since Jose Guillen had 16 in Gregory Polanco ranked second in the N.L. with 13 outfield assists, marking the first time since 1970 that the Pirates had the top two outfield assist leaders in the league; Willie Stargell (16) and Matty Alou (15) ranked first and second respectively in 1970 (Alou was actually tied for second). CUTCH 1K: Andrew McCutchen collected his 1000th career hit on April 29 at Wrigley Field...Since making his Major League debut on June 4, 2009, McCutchen ranks first among all National League players in hits (1151), runs (639), doubles (236) and extra-base hits (426). WINNING THE CLOSE ONES: Pittsburgh posted a Major-League leading (.680) record in one-run games in The last time Pittsburgh had the best one-run game record among all big league teams was 1958 (30-19,.612)...In addition, the Pirates produced a 21-7 record in one-run games at PNC Park this season, winning 12 of the last 14 instances. DIVISIONAL BREAKDOWN: The Pirates went a combined against teams from the N.L. East (24-9) and N.L. West (27-6) divisions this season and 13-7 against the American League...The Bucs also posted a record against the N.L. Central, posting a losing mark against all four division rivals. LET THERE BE LIGHT: The Pirates went 19-3 in day games played at PNC Park in 2015 and a Major League-best (.681) overall...pittsburgh s 2.64 ERA in day games also ranked first among all Major League teams. THE K CLUB: For the first time in team history, the Pirates had two pitchers strike out at least 200 batters in the same season...francisco Liriano led the staff with a career-high 205 strikeouts, while Gerrit Cole ranked second with Liriano joins Bob Veale (four times) and Oliver Perez (in 2004) as the only lefthanders in team history to whiff 200 or more in one season...a.j.
