The Cubs have combined to score 26 runs in their three victories, but just one run total in their three setbacks. Following this weekend, the Cubs on Monday will finally play their home opener when they welcome the Pittsburgh Pirates to Wrigley Field weather permitting, after today, the Cubs would be the lone team in the majors yet to play a home game, as Cleveland (48 degrees and mostly cloudy) and Colorado (39 degrees with snow showers) are each scheduled to host their home opener today. THE LONG AND WINDING ROAD: The Cubs have begun a season with a three-city trip for the first time since 2000 when they started off with a pair of games against the New York Mets in Tokyo, Japan followed by three-game sets in St. Louis and Cincinnati the Cubs have started a season with a North American trip for the first time since 1988 (2 games in Atlanta, 3 games in Montreal, 3 games in St. Louis). Thanks to Tuesday s rainout, the trip has been shortened from 10 games to nine games but with guaranteed baseball the next three days, this nine-game jaunt will be franchise s longest to open a season since the 1899 Chicago Orphans played their first 12 games of that season on the road, a trip in which they went 7-5 at Louisville, Cincinnati and St. Louis. Since the start of the 2015 season, Chicago leads the majors with 141 road victories and a.569 road winning percentage ( ).
