1 WEEK 2 MASTERS NOV. 7 th Masters B - AAA Division Playoffs Announced at Thursday s Pairings Party The Friday pairings for the 45+, non-aaaa playoffs will be announced Thursday night at the Pairings Party, which will be held at the Big Game Sports Bar, located on Main Street on San Carlos Island. It is a left turn just before the bridge to Fort Myers Beach, Estero Island. The party will start at 7 p.m. and the pairings will be announced about 8 p.m. then posted by 9 p.m. at the World Series Headquarters, the Lee County Ticket Office, on royhobbs.com and on the message line ( ) -- Tom Giffen Picking up T-shirts The tournament T-shirt is available through Friday only for all registered players outside the main concession stand near the Roy Hobbs Store on the Concourse at Lee County Stadium. Hours to pick up the Tournament T-shirt are from Noon to 6 p.m. With the shirt, each player will get a tournament patch. Exception is Wednesday when concessions are closed. Players will need their RHWS ID card to get their shirts No drivers licenses needed. 50/50 raffle 50/50 raffle tickets, to benefit the Roy Hobbs Foundation, are available each day at Lee County Sports Complex. Tickets are $1 apiece or 6 for $5. The Roy Hobbs Foundation was established to raise monies for research on finding a cure for Leukemia and to assist our Challenged Athlete friends. MVP & team awards MVP and team award certificates should be redeemed at the Roy Hobbs World Series Headquarters at the Lee County Photo by Greg Wagner Tiderwater Drillers starting pitcher vs. the New Jersey Rockies Stadium ticket office when the time comes. There will be an optional upgrade to the normal MVP award this year. For an extra cost, the MVP will have the option of getting a custom engraved bat, that is a game ready bat, to commemorate their MVP performance. Every team has an MVP certificate to redeem, and Managers or the honored player can come to the office and see Kim, Mac, Don or Rob to get the award order taken care of. The Team Award, which goes to any team winning at least 5 games in the World Series will also receive an award. Sports Massage Therapy Are you getting a little stiff or sore? There are Sports Massage Therapists at both, Terry Park and Lee County Sports Complex. Kelly Kawczynski is outside Hammond Stadium, and will be available from 10 AM to approximately 5:30 each day we are playing games. This is just a reminder that with the heat and the humidity that everyone needs to stay hydrated. The heat is sneaky. Don t let it sneak up on you. Everyone needs to keep drinking water before games and throughout games. Once you get into a heat problem, you cannot make up the lost fluid quickly; it takes time to replace a body s fluids once they have been depleted.

Pitching For the record, here is a recap on the rules on pitching eligibility for the playoffs. Roy Hobbs requirement is that all pitchers who will be starters or closers in save situations (3-run or less difference in the 8 th and 9 th innings) qualify for the playoffs by pitching at least 2 innings 6 outs or 10 hitters during pool play. This is a reminder to all managers that all pitching statistics need to be updated through the first 4 games by noon Wednesday. When AAAA playoffs begin Thursday, all managers will be supplied with a list of pitchers eligible to start-close. Finally, in the playoffs, those non-qualified middle-inning pitchers will come to the mound from their normal defensive positions where they started the game. That s the best way to make sure that playoff seedings and pairings are as accurate as we can make them.

7 7 7 CUPID HITS ANOTHER HOMER Cupid is have a great time at the Roy Hobbs 25 th World Series. For the second time this season, he s hit a home run and for the same team, the Baltimore Red Sox. Jennifer Zulavf and Stephen Kessler tied the knot this week in a beach wedding with a baseball theme. Stephen bought 48 Roy Hobbs baseball. The names of the guest were written on them and they replaced the traditional placemats for the reception. The theme didn t stop there. Roy Hobbs donated a bat and guests signed that instead of the usual guest book. And the rings were carried to the altar in a catcher s mitt. The ring for Stephen is engraved like the seams on a baseball. Stephen has been playing in the Hobbs Series for 8 years. He was the manager of the Baltimore Angels. But when he joined the Red Sox this year he s a player. The couple has lived together for 5 ½ years and between them they have six children two of them adopted. Stephen s son, Aidan, 3, was the ring bearer. When Stephen plays ball in Baltimore, the whole family always attends the games and so far, son Adam 10, is into the game.
