1 Welcome to Alexandria Potomac Little League! 2008 Spring Season Registration Packet Little League Baseball - Little League Softball - AP Kickball Ages 3 through 16 P.O. Box 6054, Alexandria, VA Phone:
2 Dear parents, guardians, players, volunteers and friends, Welcome to Alexandria Potomac Little League s 2008 season! Last year was a terrific year for APLL, as we saw more teams and players on our fields than ever before. It was also the first time in league history that an APLL team won a tournament, as our 8-10 year olds won the championship of the 2007 Virginia District 9 Fun Tournament! I think 2008 will be an even better year for APLL! As it is with our national pastime, the 2008 season for our league brings forth the promise of new opportunities and challenges. These opportunities include a greater number of players participating in our league, increased levels of instruction for coaches and players, as well as an increased level of play. New challenges include a need for additional volunteers and to ensure we stay true to the mission of Alexandria Potomac in encouraging and empowering all children in our community to learn and play sports in a safe and nurturing environment by developing in our player s sportsmanship, teamwork, and athletic ability. With volunteers, we particularly need managers, umpires, field crew and concession stand workers to operate the league. To facilitate greater participation, we have increased the volunteer fee to $45.00 per family which will be reimbursed by meeting our league s 10-hour volunteer service requirement. We really need your help, so please consider volunteering with APLL in 2008! To help us meet our mission, Alexandria Potomac will be making available to our parents the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) program. PCA is a nonprofit organization founded to give all young athletes the opportunity for a positive sports experience. We have required all APLL coaches to attend this program and are now making it available to parents. You can learn more about PCA at and please watch for upcoming information on how you can participate in this program. Finally, to keep APLL accessible to all families, we will not increase our registration fees for In addition, families registering multiple players will receive a discount of $5.00 per player for each additional player to register. APLL also works with Fairfax County to provide scholarships so that no child is kept off of our fields due to financial constraints. We sincerely look forward to your family s active participation in Alexandria Potomac this season. If you have any family, friends or neighbors that would like to participate, please pass along our contact information and help them to join the FUN LEAGUE.
