The success of our program depends upon the dedicated involvement of 320 families. As part of the Post 320 Program, families are required to volunteer and work a variety of positions during home games and tournaments. Each family is expected to volunteer at least 80 hours each season. The website, Volunteer-Spot, is used to allow parents the opportunity to schedule their own positions and time slots. Please note: when/if slots remain unfilled prior to game times, families will be assigned positions. The assigned times will be based on volunteer hours accumulated and areas of greatest need. ALL PARENTS are expected to help clean the stadium following home games, regardless of player level. Home tournaments are one of the program s major sources of revenue. It is vital that all 320 parents contribute in order to create the best baseball experience for our visiting teams, families, and fans. In order to make tournaments at Pete Lien Field the best they can be, parents will be assigned two tournaments at which to work. There are many opportunities to contribute to Post 320 Baseball, including many hours away from the field and during the offseason. Each parent is expected to contribute in some way and will be assigned responsibilities as needed.
I understand and agree to the following: Post 320 Stars Baseball Player Conduct Contract 1. I am responsible for individually raising a total of $2,000 or ($2,000 for the first player and $1,500 for the second player from the same family). These funds can be raised by selling season passes, raffle tickets, or advertising for the 2018 yearbook. I am responsible for selling a minimum of 10 season passes that may include any combination of family, individual, and / or student passes. 2. My registration fee and any fundraising money I submit are non-refundable if I am cut / released from the team, if I quit the team, become injured or ill or am unable to play for Post 320 Stars baseball for any reason. 3. Post 320 Stars Baseball coaches may be making player cuts. 4. Post 320 Stars Baseball coaches have full authority to decide on which team I play and which position I play. I will play on whichever team I am assigned and in whatever position I am placed. 5. I am required to abide by the American Legion Code of Sportsmanship, the Post 320 Stars Baseball Road Rules and Post 320 Stars Baseball Player Drug and Alcohol Policy. If I violate any of these, I will be reprimanded, and possibly suspended or released from Post 320 Stars Baseball. 6. I will not gamble while I am out of town with a Post 320 Stars Baseball team. This includes traveling to and from out of town baseball games. 7. I am required to participate in team fundraising and community service projects throughout the year. 8. I am required to participate in work days at Pete Lien Field including cleaning out dugouts following home games and helping to prepare the field for the next home game. 9. I will be issued a team uniform including one or more pairs of pants and jerseys. I will promptly return my clean team uniform (including all pants and jerseys) at the end of the season and it will be in the same condition it was when issued to me (less normal wear and tear). I will pay for the replacement of my uniform if not turned in properly. 10. I will take care of all Post 320 Stars Baseball equipment. 11. I will give my coaches as much notice as possible if I am unable to attend practice or a game for any reason. Date Player s Name Player s Signature
Post 320 Stars Baseball To: All Post 320 Stars Baseball Players and Parents Subject: Road Rules The Post 320 Stars Baseball season is about to kick into high gear. May, June, and July will bring numerous home games and on-the-road games for all three teams. This letter is meant to advise parents as to Post 320 s road rules and to let players know what is expected of them while on the road. These rules are not meant to be overly restrictive but should serve as guidelines for the player s behavior. Players going on overnight road trips should have at least $25 per day to spend on food, drinks, and other personal items. Coaches will NOT be required to loan money to players who do not bring enough money for the duration of the road trip. Players will be encouraged to eat healthy meals, which are usually more expensive. Players are responsible for showing up for departure on time, as directed with ALL their required equipment and uniforms for each road trip. Any player who is late will be left behind because road games are time sensitive. A player who misses any departure time set by the coaches without a valid excuse is subject to suspension and/or discipline. Players are required to follow a dress code while traveling which will be determined by the Head Coach. (No torn t-shirts, dirty jeans, clothing with distasteful words or signs, etc.) All players are required to act in a respectful manner at all times while on a road trip and will not conduct themselves in a manner which would embarrass the Post 320 Stars Baseball Organization. Players also represent the city of Rapid City while on these road trips. ALL PLAYERS will be under a curfew which will be determined by the Head Coach. Players must abide by this curfew and be in their respective rooms at the designated time. A bed check will be made by the coaches every night. All motel rooms occupied by players will have the door closed upon curfew. (No room will have to deadbolt lock flipped open all night.) Players will not be allowed to stay up all night playing video games, watching TV, etc. No player will be made by another player to sleep on the floor of a hotel room. Players are required to travel with their designated team and coaches unless prior arrangements are made an approved by the coaches. It is acceptable for a parent to have their son
accompany them to another hotel or restaurant, but it must be coordinated with the head coach in advance. Players are allowed to walk to various places (e.g. mall, movie theaters, restaurants) as long they advise the Head Coach as to their destination and approximate time of return. There will be NO gambling of any kind, by any Post 320 Stars Baseball player, at any time during road trips. Card games are allowed as long as no money or items of value are exchanged. Players will not rough house in any part of a motel/hotel which could cause damage. Any damage to motel property by a player will be immediately reported to the Head Coach. Players will be responsible for the cost of repair for damages caused by violation of this point. Spike shoes will not be allowed to be worn in the van(s) at any time as doing so would punch holes in the rubber floor mat of the van. Sunflower seeds will not be allowed in the vans at any time. Also, spitting on the floor of the vans will not be allowed. Players will be strongly encouraged to telephone their parent(s) at least once a day while on road trips. Parents may drive their son home from a road game in their personally owned vehicle but must notify the Head Coach in advance if they plan to do so. Only those authorized parents and coaches who have submitted their names and driver s license numbers to Post 320 Stars Baseball s insurance company and have been approved are allowed to drive the van(s). At no time will a player be allowed to drive a Post 320 Stars Baseball van. The Head Coach (or his designee) will be responsible for notifying the Rapid City media of the game scores and statistics as soon as possible following a road game. Players are responsible for making sure ALL trash is removed from the vans at the end of each road trip. While on a road trip, if the Head Coach determines that a player has intentionally violated any team rules, has behaved in a manner which is a serious detriment to Post 320 Stars Baseball, and /or has violated a state/local law (excluding an innocent accident, mistake, or a petty offense), then that player will be suspended for the remainder of the road trip. The player s parent(s) will be contacted by the Head Coach and the player s parent(s) will be responsible for coming to pick up their son. Upon returning from the road trip, the Head Coach/General Manage, the President, and the Vice President will determine if any further disciplinary action is warranted. BASEBALL 320, INC.
Post 320 Stars Drug and Alcohol Policy The Post 320 Baseball Board of Directors firmly believes the participation in the 320 Program is a privilege and not a right. Participants volunteering to participate in the Program are expected to accept the responsibilities of this privilege. The rule: No participant shall possess or use drugs, alcohol or tobacco at ANY TIME from the effective date of this contract through the final game of their career, with the exception of physician prescribed medication for a valid medical condition taken as prescribed. Responsibility: It shall be everyone s responsibility to report violations of this policy to the Head Coach or his staff. Participants seen by a member of the coaching staff or an adult in a position of authority (police officer, school official, teacher, etc.) using or possessing drugs, alcohol or tobacco, or in possession of drug paraphernalia (as defined by State Law), at ANY TIME from the effective date of this contract through the final game of their career, shall be subject to the disciplinary enforcement contained herein. Where another person, such as another participant, family member, or fan, reports a violation of this policy, the violation shall be investigated on a case by case basis. If the person reporting the violation provides a notarized written statement, and/or is willing to testify in court (if needed), the report shall be treated as if the violation was observed by the coaching staff or an adult in a position of authority. Disciplinary enforcement: FIRST OFFENSE shall result in the participant s suspension for FIVE consecutive games immediately following the offense (continued practice participation during suspension is at the coach s discretion). SECOND OFFENSE shall result in immediate SUSPENSION from the program for the remainder of the season. THIRD OFFENSE shall result in the immediate EXPULSION from the program. If a participant commits an offense while on a road trip, that participant shall be sent home at his own expense. All offenses are cumulative from the effective date of this contract until the participant is no longer in the program. Post 320 drug testing policy: For purposes of enforcement of aforementioned rule, the program will conduct drug testing under any of the following circumstances: Random testing: participants may be selected at random for drug testing at any time during the season. For cause testing: The program may ask a participant to submit to a drug test at any time it feels that the participant may be under the influence of drugs including, but not limited to, the following circumstances: reasonable evidence of drugs within the participants possession or control, unusual conduct that suggests
impairment or influence of drugs, negative performance patterns, or a failure of, or refusal to submit to, any test administered hereunder. Administration: Sanford Labs will handle all testing and the drawing from the participant pool for the random tests, at the expense of the program; provided, however, that if a participant fails or refuses a test, then the cost of any subsequent test shall be at the expense of the participant (or the participant s parent/guardian in the case of a minor participant). Drug-testing results will be disclosed only for the purposes related to enforcement of this policy. Refusal to submit: If a participant refuses a request to submit to testing under this policy, the refusal will be considered an OFFENSE, whether first, second, or third as the case may be, under the disciplinary enforcement section of the player contract, thereby resulting in either suspension or expulsion, as applicable. Provided, however, that in such a case, the participant will be given an opportunity to explain the circumstances prior to any final disciplinary enforcement becoming effective. Participant consent: By signing this form, you (or the parent/guardian in the case of a minor participant) affirm that you are aware of the Program s drug-testing policy, and you hereby agree to allow the program to test you (or the minor participant in the case of a parent/guardian) at any time during the season in accordance with the aforementioned policy. 8 320 Stars Baseball Summer Camp Policy Post 320 Stars Baseball has adopted the policy below with regards to summer camp attendance by our student-athletes. In addition to our student-athletes commitments to Post 320, they often participate in additional organizations (academic, athletic, music, art, etc.) not affiliated with Post 320. As such, this policy was adopted to provide student-athletes with an opportunity to attend non Post 320 Baseball summer camps during the baseball season. The goal of this policy is to provide our student-athletes with outside opportunities for self-betterment while at the same time fostering the student-athlete s commitment and dedication to their teams, teammates, coaches, and Post 320 Stars Baseball. The policy is as follows: 1. Post 320 Baseball will allow a one-time excused absence from the team in order to participate in a specific camp. THE EXCUSED ABSENCE SHALL NOT EXCEED 5 CONSECUTIVE DAYS. 2. Prior to attending any summer camp, the student-athlete must fill out the SUMMER CAMP ATTENDANCE REQUEST FORM below and notify his respective coach of the name, date, location, and duration of the summer camp on or before May 1, If a student-athlete has properly notified the coach pursuant to the paragraph above, there will be no associated discipline for the absences. 4. If a student-athlete fails to properly notify the coach as described above, any absence will be considered an UNEXCUSED absence and the student-athlete will be subject to discipline at the coach s discretion. The discipline may include game suspension and/or dismissal from the team for the remainder of the season. This policy does not contemplate absences for school related functions, medical or family emergencies. However, if possible, notice should be given to the coach prior to any absences from a practice or game. 9 Post 320 Stars Baseball Fundraising Information Each Player must pay a $100 non-refundable registration fee before he can practice. In addition to the $100 registration fee, each family is required to purchase one family season pass for $ These two expenditures do apply toward the player s fundraising responsibility. Therefore, each player must then raise an additional $1,835 before he can play in any games. The $2,000 fundraising requirement will be reduced for players from families with two or more players in the Post 320 Baseball Program. The first player from a multi-player family will have the same $2,000 requirement but the second player s requirement will be reduced to $1,500. The total requirement for two players form the same family will be $3, Players can raise the $2,000 fundraising requirement by selling season passes, raffle tickets, 2018 program sponsorship ads or selling advertising signs on the outfield fence. There is a requirement to sell a minimum of 10 season passes that can include any combination of family, individual, and / or student passes. Players who sell advertising, season passes, or raffle tickets will receive 100% credit of the cost for those items toward their fundraising. Players who sell outfield fence signs will receive fundraising credit equal to 10% of the funds generated for 2018 excluding the cost of having the sign made. 3. Players will receive fundraising log sheets to keep track of sales. These will be the only record of individual sales. Do not lose fundraising logs or any unsold tickets. Players will have to pay for any unsold tickets that are lost. A sponsor letter with an ad sign-up sheet has been provided. For each ad sold, please return one ad sheet with the player s name clearly on it. This will help ensure the credit for the sale is applied to the correct player s log. It is important to completely fill out the sheet. 4. Make sure the player s name is on the top of each fundraising log sheet. This is the only way to ensure each player gets appropriate credit for his sales. Fill out the log sheets completely and neatly for each item sold. 5. As soon as you collect $300 in sales, please turn it in along with the corresponding fundraising log sheets to Deb Penticoff ( ). Deb will be at the complex at least one night per week to collect fundraising money. Please make sure to get a receipt for the funds you turn in each time you submit them. If you need additional fundraising log sheets, sponsor letters, or ad sign-up sheets, please make copies or ask for them. It is very important to keep a record of fundraising sales. These records can be used to assist in fundraising the following year. 6. We will make every effort to help players meet and exceed their fundraising requirements.
