4 CITY OF TRNAVA Very long time ago, during the 9 th century, there were markets held at the crossroad of the trade routes. Step by step, the settlements were joined and created a small town which was granted an important privilege in Trnava as the first Slovak town got the privileges of the free royal town what induced its great economic and architectural development. Trnava experienced its greatest progress in the 16 th century when it became a significant trade center. In 1543, when Esztergom was occupied by the Turks, Trnava provided a shelter to the Esztergom archbishop as well as canonry and the way it became also the church center of the whole Kingdom of Hungary for nearly 300 years. The uniqueness of cultural and historical sights and most of all the plenitude of church buildings are the main attributes of the ancient-looking Trnava, one of the most attractive towns in Slovakia. The pearl among the Slovak towns, often called the little Slovak Rome, has welcome tourists and visitors for centuries to show them its valuable treasures. Find more at 4

SK TRNAVA PANTHERS The women s softball club Trnava Panthers was founded in 1992 under the name TJ STU Flying Panthers. Since 2016 the junior team has played the Czech Extra league.

Trnava Panthers is the most successful club in the Slovak league. Last season they won both categories - women and juniors. The women s team plays also in the Euroleague. It is one of the founders of this league. It belongs to the most successful teams and every year it places on medal positions
