2 81 st GHENT-WEVELGEM 7 RACES IN FLANDERS FIELDS 31 March 2019 Ghent-Wevelgem 2018 will be one to remember, because we are ready for the 81st edition! In 2018 Peter Sagan won his third Ghent-Wevelgem after a fierce battle with all the top cyclists. This confirms that a victory of the Vanackerestraat is high on the wish list of all the top cyclists. The international recognition as a cycling monument was acquired by the very soul of the race, the great history, the unique itinerary and the heroic honours list. A world champion has taken the first place on the winner s podium 26 times already in Wevelgem! Ghent-Wevelgem is one of the 10 most renowned one-day competitions in the world, so the winner will receive the maximum points for the UCI World Ranking. For example, with the Tour of Flanders and Ghent-Wevelgem, Flanders now has 2 absolute top competitions belonging to this select group. We will present once again a unique event in the world, in Flanders Fields, on Sunday, 31 March There will be no less than 7 Ghent-Wevelgem races and all of this at top level: WorldTour Men and Women s Elite, Nations Cup in the U19 Juniors and the U23 Cyclists Showing Promise, the Cup of Belgium in the Novices. The highlight will be the majestic passage of the professional cyclists along the Lakenhallen (Cloth Halls), just like gladiators entering the arena.
