13 13. PENALTIES If competitors commit the following offences they will be punished, either by being excluded from the race or a by being given a time penalty: - Failure to pass a checkpoint; - Parking a bike on the course or riding in the wrong direction; - Straying from the course; - Test runs during the race itself and outside the official reconnaissances; - Not wearing a helmet at any point during the race; - Refusing to let a faster competitor overtake; - Dropping litter; - Debasement of the sponsors logos printed on the number plates. In the event of an offence not listed above, the race directors, with the backing of FFC and UCI officials, reserve the right to apply a penalty. 14. WITHDRAWALS If a competitor wishes to withdraw for any reason other than injury, he should, if at all possible, do so at one of the elimination and return points set up by the organiser. The participant should find the person in charge of the area, who will permanently invalidate his race number. Return transportation for athletes and bikes will be available at each of these points. 15. TIME LIMITS To guarantee participants safety, it is vital that they do not go over the time limit set for the end of each race. Obligatory secondary itineraries will be set up accordingly. FIXED CUT-OFF POINTS FOR ALTERNATIVE ROUTES Cut-off times and alternative routes will be arranged at various points along the course (refreshment areas). After the cut-off time listed for each point, it will no longer be possible for riders to leave the location by the main race route. If a participant fails to set off from one of these points before the assigned time, he will be directed to an alternative route and will not be included in the race rankings. The organiser will arrange an end-of-race operation to follow the last competitor. In the Tri Roc, all competitors will need to have reached the transition area between mountain biking and running (T2) by 4 hours after the race start at the latest. After this point, competitors will not be allowed to take part in the running stage. The chief referee has the power to modify this elimination cut-off time. 16. MEDICAL AID Medical assistance will be provided by doctors and mobile emergency aid units. If they are needed, these units can be called by the signallers posted along each course, who are equipped with radio transmitters. If advised to do so by a doctor, the organiser reserves the right to withdraw any person deemed unfit to continue from the race and have them escorted from the site. Any competitor who requests attention from a doctor or firstaid worker agrees to fully accept their authority and judgement. If need be, in the interests of the person in question, the emergency services will be called. From that point on, the emergency services will take charge of the situation and use any means they deem appropriate, including transport by helicopter. Calls to the emergency services can be made by dialling

14 Participants who receive medical treatment during or after a race must inform the organiser using a standard form within five days. After this deadline, notifications will not be accepted and the organiser will not be held liable. 17. MODIFICATIONS The organiser reserves the right to modify the course and/or the location of the refreshment points and/or the time limits for any Roc d Azur race, at any time. In order to guarantee participants safety in the event of poor weather conditions, the organiser reserves the right to postpone start times, stop races in progress, cancel races or implement fall-back itineraries. 18. ANTI-DOPING TESTS The Roc d Azur is an event organised under the aegis of the F.F.C. As a result, anti-doping tests may be organised. Roc d Azur participants are required to comply fully with the ban on doping and with all aspects of any anti-doping measures that may be taken as a result of the laws and regulations in force, notably under Articles L230-1 and following of the French Sports Code. Participants must make sure that they have not been selected for drug testing before they leave the race site. If tested, the participants involved must be able to provide proof of identity. 19. RESPECT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT In light of the beauty of the region and the site which host the Roc d Azur each year (including private property and protected areas, etc.), participants must respect the environment (no littering, dropping cigarette ends on the ground, etc.) and refrain from lighting fires in the region, which is prone to wild fires. Anyone who fails to comply may be prosecuted. 20. INSURANCE Civil liability In accordance with current legislation, the organiser has taken out insurance covering the financial consequences of its civil liability, that of its officials and that of all the participants in the Roc d Azur. As for the civil liability of the participants themselves, the afore-mentioned insurance policy will only cover accidents caused by participants during the sporting event. This guarantee can apply in addition to or in lieu of other insurance policies that participants might take out. A copy of the insurance policy is available to all participants upon request. Personal accident All Roc d Azur participants, whether or not they have licences issued by a sports federation, may take out insurance by post when they register for the event or, at the latest, when they collect their bibs. This policy will pay out a sum in the event of physical injury (death or permanent disability) as a result of an accident which has occurred on the race route. The compensation, based on the injuries and the compensation options selected, will take effect if the insured party suffers an accident while participating in the sports event. This insurance is optional, but strongly recommended. It can be taken out as a stand-alone policy or in addition to another insurance of the same type, such as those included with sports licences. More information and the subscription form can be found on the event website. Material damage The organiser will not be held responsible for damage (theft, breakage, loss, etc.) to participants personal belongings, not even those left in its care. Participants may not, therefore, take action against the organiser for any damage caused to their equipment. Taking out insurance against such risks is the responsibility of the participant

15 21. CANCELLATION INSURANCE Insured party: Any person who purchases cancellation insurance with their registration for the 2016 Roc d Azur (by ticking the corresponding box). Purpose of this insurance: To reimburse the fees paid to register for one or more 2016 Roc d Azur races if the insured party is forced to withdraw due to one of the following: - death, accident or illness of the insured party, - death, accident or serious illness (requiring hospitalisation) of the insured party s partner, a parent, or a child in the 30 days prior to the event, - refusal of a visa by the French authorities, - theft of identity papers in the 48 hours prior to the start of the race, - court summons. Premium: 10 in addition the registration fees (to be paid together). One subscription will cover all the Roc d Azur races for which the insured party is registered (with a maximum limit of 130). Please note that subscribing twice will not result in double indemnity, and due to administrative issues cannot lead to the reimbursement of the second premium. Conditions for compensation: claims for reimbursement must be supported by an official document justifying the insured party s withdrawal from the event (such as a medical certificate in the case of accident or illness) and must be received by A.S.O. no later than 15 days after the event. Claims will be handled within two months and compensation paid within three months. 22. IMAGE RIGHTS By participating in the Roc d Azur, the participant gives his express permission for the organiser, its delegates and its successors to use and reproduce, in any medium and by any means, now and in the future, with no compensation of any kind, his name, voice, image, and, more generally, his athletic performance at the event, in any form, in any existing or future medium, in any format, for public communication throughout the world, for any use including advertising and/or commercial purposes, and for the entire duration of the protection granted by current copyright laws and regulations, judicial and/or arbitral decisions issued in any country, and existing or future international conventions, including those that may result in the extension of this duration. The participant gives his express and irrevocable permission for the organiser, its delegates and its successors, in order to meet the requirements of advertising, promotional and/or commercial campaigns, to 1) apply any modifications, additions or deletions that it sees fit when using the participant s image in any of the circumstances defined above, and 2) associate and/or combine the participant s image with signatures, catchphrases, slogans, captions, brands, distinctive signs, legal notices, visuals and, in general, any element of any kind chosen by the organiser to illustrate the means of communication in which the images are used. The participant guarantees that he is not bound by an exclusive contract relating to the use of his image and/or name and/or voice.
