The race will be timed and organised on roads which are closed to traffic. L Etape du Tour is organised by Amaury Sport Organisation (hereinafter A.S.O. or the Organiser ) with the support of "TDF Sport" and under the authority of the French Cycling Federation (F.F.C.). The present Rules are complementary to the A.S.O. Challenges online registration platform s General Terms of Sale. Participation in the Event involves the express and unconditional acceptance by each participant (hereinafter the Participant(s) of A.S.O. Challenges General Terms of Sale, these Rules and any instructions addressed to Participants by the Organiser. The present Rules may be modified until the day of the Event. In this event, Participants will be informed of this modification in writing. In the event of any inconsistency between the terms of the present Rules and the A.S.O. Challenges General Terms of Sale, the terms of the Rules shall prevail. Article 2 PARTICIPATION CONDITIONS The race is open to everyone, be they licence holders or not, provided that they are 18 or over in 2018 on the date of the race. The other competitors (FFCT, FFC PASS LOISIR and SERVICE, FFC Management and Steward licence holders, foreign licence holders and non-licence holders) must provide the original or a photocopy of a medical certificate stating that there are no contraindications for them to take part in cycling competitions, which has been issued less than a year before the Event date. Foreign licence holders must provide a medical certificate stating that there are no contraindications for them to take part in cycling competitions, even if they are holders of a competition licence issued by a federation which is affiliated to the UCI. 2 The medical certificate or the photocopy of the 2018 licence must only be handed over when you collect your race number at the host village in Annecy. Medical certificates sent in advance, by post or , will not be accepted. Participation in L Etape du Tour implies each competitor s express and unreserved acceptance of the present rules. Riders are reminded that checks will be carried out during the Event to ensure that it takes place according to these regulations. It is expressly indicated that Participants take part in the competition at their own risk and solely under their own responsibility. Article 3 - REGISTRATIONS Registration for the Event may only be done via the online registration platform at the following address: and via approved travel agencies subject to availability, from 17 th October 2017, at 3pm. The registration fees will be indicated on the Event s website as well as on the online registration platform The organisation reserves the right to limit the number of competitors in the Event for safety reasons. All registrations are personal, firm and binding and may not be refunded for any reason whatsoever (particularly, but not restricted to, reasons of registration errors, non-availability or impediments for medical reasons). For Participants wishing to subscribe, cancellation insurance is available when registering on A.S.O. Challenges. Registrations cannot be transferred under any circumstances. Anyone who transfers his race number to another person will be held responsible in the event that this person suffers or causes an accident during the Event. The organisation declines all liability in the event of an accident under such circumstances and will permanently ban the competitor who has transferred his race number to another person, as well the competitor who uses it, from the L Etape du Tour. Race numbers must be worn on competitors backs and be completely visible during the Event. Article 4 COLLECTION OF RACE NUMBERS Race numbers numbers can be collected in the host Village set up in Annecy on Friday 6 th July and Saturday 7 th July 2018 from 10am to 8pm (the precise address of the Village will be posted on the Event s website - as well in the newsletters sent to Participants). Race numbers as well as timing chips will be distributed upon presentation of your notification letter which can be downloaded on the website, a proof of identity and one of the mandatory documents mentioned in Article 2 of these Rules. Please note: No race numbers will be distributed on Sunday 8 th July 2018, the day of the Event. No race numbers will be sent by post. 2 / 10

Each competitor must collect his race number personally. The allocation of a race number is firm and definitive. Article 5 MANDATORY AND FORBIDDEN EQUIPMENT In order to ensure the safety and smooth running of the Event, all Participants must arrive at the start equipped with the following mandatory equipment: - - a rigid helmet which must be worn throughout the entire Event, - - a hydration system (water bottle or hydration pack). To ensure your safety as well as that of the Participants, it is strictly forbidden to participate in the Event with the following: - - a bicycle equipped with any kind of extension (bar ends or triathlon bars); - - an electric bicycle or electrically assisted pedal cycle; - - a recumbent or prone bicycle; - - a bicycle which is not officially recognized by the F.F.C. Article 6 RANKING At the end of the Event, several rankings will be established: - Women s and men s scratch rankings: the first three women and the first three men to go over the finish line will be congratulated during the prize giving ceremony held Annecy. - The best climber ranking: a ranking will be established based on the cumulative times for the ascents of the Col de la Croix Fry, the Plateau des Glières, the Col de la Colombière, the Col de Romme and the Col de la Colombière. There will not be a prize giving ceremony for this challenge. A real time deadline (which begins when the start line is crossed), will be defined by the Organiser (according to the route s difficulties, technical constraints, etc.) and given to all the Participants to cross the finish line. This real time will be published on the Event s website. All Participants which exceed this real time will be relegated, even if they cross the finish line. All the results will be published on the Event s website, as well as on your A.S.O. Challenges personal area. Article 7 ACCESS TO THE SITE AND SECURITY It is strictly forbidden to bring any objects to the Event site that may be dangerous or illegal, in particular drugs, firearms, blunt weapons and explosives. To access the site and take part in the Event, the Participant recognises and expressly agrees that the Organiser may call upon security personnel who will be authorised to check both people as well as inspecting their personal belongings. 3 / 10

Everyone who wishes to access the site must comply with this check. If they refuse to do so they will not be authorised to access the site. The Organiser and the security staff may refuse access to the Event or prevent Participants from taking part if their behaviour is likely to disturb the smooth running of the Event notably under the following, non-exhaustive circumstances: the use of any object which may hinder the race, the circulation and/or safety of other Participants; the use of any distinctive promotion, in any form, of an opinion [political, philosophical or religious] likely to damage the image of the Event. Article 8 - TIMING Timing will be done using an electronic detection system. All entrants will be given a timing chip positioned on the back of their frame plate. This timing chip will be detected by different antennas placed along the route of the Event. It will be used to monitor the race and will also allow the Event s results and rankings to be established. In order to allow the timing chip to function properly it must not be folded or bent. Moreover, the frame plate must be positioned on the front of the bicycle, as explained in the documents distributed to Participants (instructions featured on the envelope containing the race number and frame plate). Participants who do not follow the route defined by the Organiser, who use human and/or material assistance, or who cross the finish line without their chipped frame plate will not be recorded as having finished. The electronic detection system has been chosen according to strict reliability requirements. Despite tests conducted by the manufacturers, a very low percentage of cases of nondetection remains. The lack of data resulting from chips not being detected will not allow the Organiser to include the Participant s official time in the ranking. The Organiser cannot be held responsible for this. Article 9 RESPECTING THE ENVIRONMENT In order to respect the environment and the natural surroundings in which the event takes place, it is strictly forbidden to leave litter (paper, plastic wrappers, tubes containing energy gels, etc.) on the route. Bins will be provided and collection areas will be installed and indicated at each feeding station on the route. Participants must make use of them when disposing of waste. Participants must hold onto their litter and wrappers and wait until they reach the places set up by the Organiser to dispose of them. The Organiser reserves the right to exclude Participants from the race who deliberately dispose of their waste elsewhere than in these specific areas. Article 10 - SECURITE DURING THE RACE Personal following cars are strictly forbidden on the route. The Organiser will put several measures in place to ensure the route is secure: signage, motorcyclists with flags indicating dangerous areas, signs indicating sections requiring 4 / 10

particular attention. The dangerous points on the route will also be listed and communicated on the Event s website. The Participants must respect the safety instructions given by the Organiser s personnel (motorcyclists, volunteers) along the whole route. The safety measures will end at the finish line. Article 11 WITHDRAWALS AND TIME LIMITS If a Participant wishes to withdraw for any reason other than injury, he should, if at all possible, do so at one of the recovery points set up by the Organiser. The Participant should find the person in charge of the area, who will permanently invalidate his race number. Return transportation for Participants and bikes will be available at each of these points. In order to ensure the Participants safety and to allow the re-opening of roads to cars to be scheduled, it is essential that Participants do not exceed the end Event time limits. Three measures will be put in place: Stationary measures: recovery points The locations and times for the recovery points will be communicated to Participants before the Event (newsletters, website, social networks) and when race numbers are collected. Time limits at the recovery points will be identified, communicated to Participants (via the Event s website, social networks and at the Village where race numbers will be collected in Annecy) and put in place. These time limits will correspond to the times after which it will no longer be possible to leave the indicated place (other than by following the alternative route under the conditions set out below). If Participants do not leave the recovery points before the specified time, they will be eliminated from the race and will no longer feature in the Event s rankings. Return transportation for Participants and bikes will be available at each of these points. Stationary measures: diversion points Alternative routes will be offered to Participants who have been eliminated but who do not want to use the recovery system organised. These itineraries, which are less challenging than the route of the Event, will not be closed to traffic nor secured by the Organiser. Participants take these routes at their own risk. Any Participant deciding to take an alternative route will be detected by the timing system and will not feature in the final Event rankings. Alternative routes and the times when they will be in operation will be communicated to Participants before the Event (newsletters, website, social networks) and when race numbers are collected. Mobile measures: end of race The end of race operation, which will consist of at least one motorcycle, one car and one bus, will only take charge of Participants who have fallen, experienced mechanical or physical failure and who are unable to reach the recovery points under their own steam. 5 / 10

Participants who use this mobile operation will be eliminated from the race. The medical service, consisting of doctors and first aiders, may decide to eliminate a Participant for medical reasons. Article 12 - FIGHT AGAINST DOPING The Event is a race organised under the authority of the F.F.C., and as a result, anti-doping tests may be set up. Participants undertake to strictly respect the ban on doping as well as the provisions concerning anti-doping tests, arising from the laws and regulations in force, in particular Articles L et seq. of the French Code du Sport (Sports Code). Article 13 - INSURANCE Cycling in general and cycling competitions in particular represent a physical activity which involves risks. Each of the Event s Participants must enter the race knowing that they will ride on mountainous terrain with steep climbs and rapid descents. Civil liability insurance: In accordance with current legislation, the Organiser has taken out insurance covering the financial consequences of its civil liability, that of its officials and that of all the Participants in the Event. As for the civil liability of the Participants themselves, the afore-mentioned insurance policy will only cover accidents caused by Participants during the sporting event. Moreover, this cover will take effect in addition to other insurance which they might have or if they do not have any insurance at all. A copy of the insurance policy is available to all Participants upon request. Personal accident: All Participants in the event, be they holders of a sporting federation licence or not, may take out insurance by post or, at the latest, when they collect their race numbers. This policy will pay out a sum in the event of physical injury (death or permanent disability) as a result of an accident which has occurred on the event route. Compensation, according to the damages, will be paid if the insured person has an accident while participating in the Event. THIS INSURANCE IS OPTIONAL BUT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. It can be taken out in addition to or instead of any similar insurance cover and, in particular, any cover provided by a sports licence. The information notice and application form are available on the event's website ( Material damage: The Organiser will not be held responsible for damage (theft, breakage, loss, etc.) to Participants personal belongings, not even those left in its care. Participants may not, therefore, take action against the Organiser for any damage caused to their equipment. Taking out insurance against such risks is the responsibility of the Participant. Article 14. IMAGE RIGHTS Participant s image: 6 / 10

The Event may be recorded for public communication purposes, in any form (notably through photos, videos, etc.), on any existing or future media, in any format, for any communication to the public around the world, for any use including advertising and commercial use. The Organiser, its delegates and its successors are expressly forbidden from using a Participant s name, voice or image in any format of a pornographic, racist or xenophobic nature, and more generally are forbidden from any use that is detrimental to the Participant s dignity. Participants are informed and unconditionally accept that their Image, recorded by the official representatives of the Organiser, may be accessible to the public without restriction on the A.S.O. Challenges website in the Members Area and/or on the Event website under the Results section. In terms of the Event site, Participants agree that they may be identified by any internet user by their last name, first name and/or race number Event Images: Any communication of still and/or moving images of the Event recorded by the participant during their participation in the Event must be restricted to personal use and may not, under any circumstances, be used for advertising and/or commercial purposes outside the Event. ARTICLE 15 AERIAL FILMING Participants are informed that: on the day of the Event, remote controlled drones may be used for the purposes of media coverage; Participants may find themselves throughout all or part of the event, within 30 metres of these drones. 7 / 10
