1 Gaga for Tony The American singer Tony Bennett will be coming to the Casino Cabaret of Montreal this coming September 3 rd, for a show that is set to include some nice jazz pieces from his last album Cheek to Cheek. The album was released in 2014 and was realised in collaboration with Lady Gaga. At his exit, the album hit the top of the charts, winning the best traditional pop album at the last Grammy Awards. Artist such as Johanne Blouin, Jean-François Breau and Marie-Ève Janvier will be present for the show dedicated to the highly successful, author-composer who is now 73 years old. Due to his health conditions, his activities have been suspended temporarily. The Belgium artist is still expected to perform at the Bell Center on September 28th and 29th. 4 There are many reasons to seek out the water in summertime. Perhaps you would like to extend your summer holiday, or find a way to replace it. Maybe you want to relax, or, on the contrary, keep your children active. And during heat waves, there's no better way to cool off. You can enjoy the water in different ways at various locations around the island of Montreal. Of course, you can always go to one of the city's free swimming pools, but we also have beaches, and a variety of other aquatic activities. THE OLD PORT AND LACHINE CANAL The city's most centrally located beach, the Clock Tower Beach, is furnished with fine sand, blue lounge chairs and parasols, and misters for optimal cooling. Note that there is no swimming (although that may change in 2016 or 2017). People come here to relax, admire the sunset, and feel sand between their toes. Starting June 19, it will be open every day during the day, and in the evenings from Wednesday through Sunday (for age 18 and over only). As for activities, there are several cruises, of course, but you can opt for more excitement by taking control of your own motorized watercraft with Aventures Wet Set MTL, by climbing aboard a speedboat which will perform stunts in the water, with Jet St-Laurent, or by splashing through the Lachine rapids with Saute-moutons. For a more low-key but still active family outing, you can rent a peddle boat and glide through calm water at your own pace, every day from June to August. At Bonsecours, basin, children will enjoy steering remote-controlled sailboats with Microvoile, on Saturday and Sunday afternoons until June 21, then every day starting on June 24. A catch is guaranteed on a guided fishing trip, and you will also have a chance to see other wildlife on the St Lawrence River. Boats depart from Port d'escale at the Jacques Cartier Pier, every day from May to October. All equipment is provided, so this outing is perfect for novices. At the Lachine canal you can practice sports like kayaking, surfing and paddleboarding on a Stand Up Paddleboard. You can sunbathe or make sandcastles, play beach volleyball, or take advantage of a reserved area for swimming. You can rent watercrafts like peddleboats, canoes, kayaks and mayaks and navigate between the beach and the Casino. Thrill seekers have several new gadgets to ride this summer: the wakeboard, on which you speed over the water holding onto a cable, and the flyboard, on which you fly above the water! Finally, a new attraction has been installed to mark the 25th anniversary of the beach. Aquazilla, which is open to children age six and up, is an obstacle course on the water: a giant inflated structure with platforms, slides and trampolines. The aquatic complex, comprised of three outdoor pools, is also open every day, starting on June 20. Inflatable Saturdays return this year with games and other activities for children, while sporting types will be able to play waterpolo.

Visitors can walk or bicycle, have a picnic, and imagine the lives of the First Nations people who lived on the islands in another age. Nautical activities are the main attraction here, since the park is surrounded by water. You can bring your own (non motorized) boat or rent one, and get close to nature as you paddle it along 8 kilometres of marked waterways through the park's natural canals. You can choose between a sea kayak, a canoe or a larger, ten-person canoe called a rabaska. Sea kayaking classes are also offered. If you have a provincial fishing licence, you can fish from a boat or from the shore. For fun on the beach, you can play beach volleyball on sand. Info: sepaq.com/pq/bou CAP-SAINT-JACQUES NATURE PARK On the West Island, the park at Cap-Saint-Jacques has a natural beach in a bay surrounded by greenery, overlooking Lac des Deux Montagnes. It is open every day during the summer, starting June 6. Peddleboats, canoes, kayaks and mayaks are available for rent, or you can bring your own boat. Fishing is allowed, with a permit. The park has walking and cycling trails and is a good site for birdwatching. It also has a working farm which is open to the public. Sports activities and presentations about nature are held there. Info: ville.montreal.qc.ca BOIS-DE-L'ÎLE-BIZARD NATURE PARK Between Montreal and Laval, facing Lac des Deux Montagnes, the park on Île Bizard features a small, natural sand beach in a shallow bay, perfect for wading and swimming in shallow water. It is particularly popular among families with young children. The beach is open every day from June 13 to August 9. Sea kayaking classes are offered nearby and you can fish, with a permit.
