The goals of the Company are: Provide accelerated dance opportunities in addition to Dance Academy classes Promote performing arts in the community Provide a healthy team experience for the dancers

1 Audition Packet Thank you for your interest in the Heather Wayne s Dance Company. The Company is organized as a nonprofit organization with parents as well as outside community members serving as the Board of Directors. The goals of the Company are: Provide accelerated dance opportunities in addition to Dance Academy classes Promote performing arts in the community Provide a healthy team experience for the dancers and parents Prepare dancers for college or other community or professional opportunities The successful achievement of these goals requires the intentional partnership between the instructors, the parents, and the dancers. The philosophy of the Company is to provide training opportunities for each dancer in ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, and hip-hop. The choreography and costumes are carefully chosen to be age-appropriate and tasteful. Our President/Artistic Director, Heather Wayne, contributes countless hours (over and above instructing) to invest in the lives of dancers. As a unit, we celebrate the group and individual achievements of all the dancers. You will find that the Company provides a positive and encouraging environment where many lifelong friendships are formed. The audition takes place in two parts: 1.) Mandatory parents/dancers meeting May 17, :00pm 2.) 3 HWDC Requirements Company Members will be required to: Purchase a company uniform Work with professional guest teachers and Choreographers Attend Dancers workshop Attend 5 competitions (2 competition only and 3 competition/conventions) Perform in the Spring Concert (February 2018) Perform in the Year-End Recital (May 2018) All dancers must attend all classes and rehearsals the week prior to a competition. Any dancer with an unexcused absence prior to the weekend competition may not be able to compete. Attendance policy Any dancer that missed more than 10 days in any combination of classes, rehearsal, Saturday rehearsals, or performances will appear before the Board of Directors to determined continued eligibility to participate. **More detailed policies will be included in the HWDC Acceptance packet that will be sent with the Audition Results.. Audition Requirements Part 1: Pre-Audition Information Meeting Date: May 17, 2017 Time: 7:00pm Location: Blackbox at Heather Wayne s Performing Arts If unable to attend, parent must schedule a meeting with Heather Wayne prior to the audition in order to proceed to Part 2. Part 2: Audition Date: Sunday, May 21, 2017 Time: 2:00 pm 5:30 pm Location: Heather Wayne s Performing Arts Requirements for Audition: BLACK leotard, PINK tights, hair pulled back in tight bun Be prepared to dance Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Pointe Bring all dance shoes $30 non-refundable audition fee ($20 for all returning members) Signed Permission to Audition form Dancer Information Form Copy of birth certificate, First Time applicants only Audition Dancer Questionnaire Must be 7 years old as of December 31, 2017 PLEASE make sure of the commitment you are making by reading the packet of information in FULL. Note: If you do not understand any portion of the information contained within the audition packet or the attached policies, it is your responsibility to discuss them with the Artistic Director, Heather Wayne, prior to audition. **Dancers and Parents/Guardians must bring the following forms with them to the audition: Permission to Audition Dancer Information Form Dancer Questionnaire Birth Certificate (first time applicants only) 3

By signing below, I understand: If my son/daughter is accepted into the Dance Company, I am committing for July 2017-May 2018 If accepted into the Dance Company, I understand my child is required to attend Dancer s Workshop during 1 week in July ($375 payment to HWPA) If accepted into the Dance Company, I understand my child is required to attend Choreography Camp Dates and times will be announced at a later date Subject to placement/selection by the President/Artistic Director, I request that my child be considered for (Check one): 3 Competition dances (One of which will be the Company Production number) 5 Competition dances (One of which will be the Company Production number) I acknowledge that I may be assessed additional fees during the year as voted on by the Board of Directors. If payments are not paid by the credit card on the 15 th of each month there will also be a $10.00 LATE fee added to your monthly payment. 7 Dance Company Alumni Jordan Hopkins graduated in 2011 and went on to Oklahoma City University with dance and academic scholarship. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Dance Management. While in school, she was President of Blue Key Honor Society, Ritualist of Gamma Phi Beta, and Secretary for Order of Omega (National Scholarship Winner). She has worked for Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center, Six Flags over Georgia, and Walt Disney World. Rachel Blough graduated in 2013 and now attends Mississippi State University. She is the Mississippi Excellence in Teaching Scholarship recipient, President of the College of Education, Vice President of Pi Beta Phi, and is the College of Education Ambassador. She is currently working on original research. Laura Crabb graduate from Buford High School in 2013 after dancing with Heather Wayne s Dance Academy for 10 years. She proceeded to dance at Kennesaw State University on their dance team her freshman year. Since then, she has been focusing on becoming a high school math teacher and attends dance classes in Atlanta whenever she can. Sydney Lewis graduated in 2013 and is attending the University of North Carolina Greensboro. She is a Kinesiology major with a concentration in sports medicine and is also pursing a minor in dance. She is a member of Akpha Lambda Delta Honor Society and the Spartan G s Dance Team. Michelle Ellis graduated from North Gwinnett High School in Michelle is attending Valdosta State University where she is a member of Kappa Delta. She is the assistant membership chairman and the captain of the winning Kappa Delta dance team. She was also a member of the Red Hots Dance Team in Michelle is pursuing a degree in Early Childhood/Special Education and plans to teacher Moderately/Severely intellectually disabled children. Jessica Sewell graduated in She currently attends Georgia Gwinnett College and is a Criminal Justice major with a concentration in Criminology. Upon graduation, she plans to attend the University of Georgia School of Law. Jessica spends most of her spare time babysitting. Leah Katlyn Stinespring graduated in She received her Associates Degree from Southern Union State Community College. While at Southern Union, Leah was a member of the Souther Union dancers, SGA President, Dance Club President, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society member, Mu Theta Alpha Honor Society member, dance department work study student, and was name Miss Southern Union She competed in the Miss Alabama pageant in June Leah now attends the University of Alabama and is double majoring in Dance and Marketing/Advertising Nyla Atkins graduated in 2015 and now attends Clark Atlanta University Makenzie Epps graduated in 2015 and now attends Samford University and studies math. She is a member of the Samford Dance Team and has choreographed for the university s Step Sing Show. Kelsey Kempner graduated in 2015 and attends Ohio State University. She is a National Buckeye Scholarship and Provost Scholarship recipient. She is current a dual major in BFA Dance and BS Neuroscience. She was also selected to be in OSU s guest choreographer Chien-Ying Wang s piece for the dance department concert. Emily Gilliam graduated in 2016 and attends Point Park University in Pittsburgh. 7
