A letter was sent home earlier this week seeking your preference of times to meet. Please return to your child s teacher the slip indicating your preference for times to meet This is the perfect time to set goals with your child for the remainder of this term. Post the goals in a visible spot such as on the fridge. Working together as a collaborative team will allow us to best support your child s learning needs. Random Act of Kindness - Novem- Use this card to GET INVOLVED! November 2 marks the ninth annual Random Act of Kindness Day across the Niagara region, a day focused performing a simple act of kindness for someone and inspiring the recipient to pay it forward with a kind act for someone else. 2 Remembrance Day Breakfast Club Start your child's day off by coming to breakfast club ever Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:15am- 8:45am. This is our third year providing Breakfast club here at the school and it"s well established and very popular. There is a great atmosphere and is a place where children can meet with their friends before school and enjoy a healthy breakfast together. You can drop your children off anytime after 8:15 am and we close breakfast club promptly at 8:45am. Looking forward to seeing some new and familiar faces this coming year =) Mrs. Nowicki, Mrs, Grano, Mrs Jolliffe Remembrance Day Assembly will be on November 9 at 9 a.m. in the gym, Families are welcome to join in the remembrance of our veterans. We will have a guest speaker for grade 4 to 8 to follow in the library. Inclement Weather There may be times during the school year where it may be necessary to cancel student transportation due to adverse weather conditions. NSTS gathers information on road and weather conditions from a wide variety of sources, including Environment Canada, the bus companies, various municipal and regional agencies and from staff performing checks on selected routes to experience the road conditions first hand. NSTS considers the actual weather conditions, the forecasted weather and the projected impact on road conditions during the peak student transportation windows. Once all available information has been collected and reviewed, and it is determined that students cannot be safely transported to school, or home from school at the end the day, the decision to cancel student transportation is made by NSTS. Every attempt is made to provide the public with information on bus cancellations by 6:00 a.m. The announcement will be posted on the front page of the NSTS website, as well as on the website and social media of DSBN and Niagara Catholic. Local radio and television stations are also notified to disseminate this information to the public. The School Board's Director of Education makes the decision to cancel schools. School closure information is announced in the manner outlined above. Please note that parents and/or guardians make the final decision on whether or not to send their child to school in inclement weather conditions. 3 Cross Country A huge thank you to all the students who participated in Cross Country this year. With 17 participating and competing in our area meet, we were lucky to send off almost half of our runners to the DSBN district meet that was held on October 16th in the afternoon. Of our 7 qualifying runners, 6 competed hard on Tuesday amongst 750 students, representing the Griffin s with great pride! Congratulations goes out to Matteo R., Luca G., Ariella D., Laura B., Menno H., Bianca R., and Arianna R. A special mention of Laura B. who placed 4th in all of DSBN for the Bantam Girls, a race that left the top 5 all within 30 seconds of each other. It was a great season, and I look forward to kicking things off again this spring as we think ahead into next fall! Once you have collected all your orders please go into Schoolcash online and place your order. A coupon for every plant ordered will be sent home for distribution. Participants can go to Vermeer s during business hours to pick up their poinsettia. Proceeds will be used to purchase technology resources. Thank you for your support! School Council If you are interested in becoming more actively involved in your child s education and the inner workings of Glendale Public School, we encourage you to join our School Council Meetings! Please consider joining us at our meeting on Tuesday, November 20, 6:00-7:00 p.m. in the library. We welcome new members! Christmas Concert at Centennial High School We are asking all students to wear nice Christmas outfits of their choice for our Christmas Concert. There are no class assigned outfits for this year s concert. The concert will be held at Centennial High school on December 13th at 6:30 p.m. Mrs. Perry is still looking for a Christmas tree and volunteers to help decorate the stage in the morning of the concert.

4 GTV NEWS GTV is Glendale's student-run weekly news broadcast. Students in Gr. 8 go around the school each week to see what is happening and then create a news broadcast for the school. The episodes are shown each Monday in classrooms during break. To help you view the episodes at home you can sign up for the GTV Remind Texts. You will receive the episodes right on your phone/device. Junior Flag Rugby Our Junior Flag Rugby team had a great day at the tournament on Thursday October 25th. We finished in fourth place as Silver Medal Finalists. Great job Griffins! Our team members include: Mason, Michael, Arahan, Ryan, Brandon, Jacob, Adriana, Ania, Daryn, Bianca, Ariana, Makayla, Kyra, Maddy, Shelby, Sarah. Tech Club Tuesdays Students in Grades 5 to 8 that are interested in coding, LEGO Robotics, and all things tech are invited to come out Tuesdays to the library where they can explore their interests. Coed Intermediate Volleyball CONGRATULATIONS goes out to the Coed Intermediate Volleyball team who took part in a one day tournament the evening of October 23rd. The team met four competing schools and played twogame rounds, ending with a split record of two ties and two losses. It was. nice to see improvement in trying three hits, consistent serving, covering, and encouraging each other. Thank you so much to the parent drivers who got us there and for cheering us on. The kids seemed to have fun and Mrs. Grano and I were really proud of their teamwork and behaviour, they represented Glendale well! JACK GRUNSKY here we come! The primary division will be attending the show being held at Bethany Church in St Catharines on Monday, November 5th (the 11:00 am performance.) We are excited to listen to music, learn about different instruments, sing, and be energized!!
