1 Betmar Coffee Hour for October 23, 2018 Submitted by Rita Jones There was an explosion of people attending Betmar s Coffee Hour today. The chairs and tables filled quickly with residents and guests and the expressions of joy, the chatter and the laughter could be heard round the room. In fact, it took Judi Gearsbeck a few moments to hush the crowd so she could open coffee hour. Bryan Toll gave the invocation and led residents and guests in the salute to the American flag. Judi welcomed Brian Scheerer back from the North and remarked that she was happy to have a Brian that s nice to me. Bryan Toll, Brian Scheerer and Judi Gearsbeck

2 Judi Gearsbeck came on stage in her Red Sox garb even though she is a Yankee s fan. She said the Red Sox deserved her support because they made it to the World Series.

3 Attention Crafters! Judi explained that she went before the Board and was granted permission to have a two-day craft sale in November Please note this is for next year. Any crafter in the park can rent a table for perhaps $5.00 and display their wares. All sales will go to the individual crafters only. Judi encouraged residents to begin work immediately so that there will be lots of home-made items available in November Volunteer Opportunity Bingo needs a volunteer for about two and a half hours every Monday evening beginning at 4:00 p.m. The job title is Keeper of Mort s Store. Bryan Toll mentioned that if you can breathe, you have the qualifications for this job. It is for the winter months only. Please contact Mike Horne if interested. Shuffle Lunch There is a shuffle lunch today at Clubhouse 2 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Car Seat for Child Joan Hines would like to borrow a car seat for a child from November 22 through November 25. Please contact Joan if you have a child s car seat available. Game Club Meeting Change The Game Club will be meeting on November 8 at 11:00 a.m. instead of November 1. The meeting will be held in the Blue Room of Apache. Hobby Club The Hobby Club was selling fall craft items in the Annex today at coffee hour and will also be there next week. Bring money next week and support the Hobby Club! T.O.P.S. There will be no T.O.P.S. (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) this Saturday, October 27. The next meeting will be held on Saturday, November 3.

4 Halloween Golf Cart Parade Decorate your golf carts, wear costumes or not and meet at Clubhouse 2 by 5:15 p.m. The golf cart parade will start at 5:30 p.m. and follow the posted route. If you are not participating in the parade, please join your friends along the route, enjoy the parade as it passes and cheer on the participants and maybe get some candy. After the parade passes by, all of Betmar is invited to join together in Clubhouse 2 for a gathering of ghouls and witches. Cake and cider will be provided along with cookies, bars and some finger foods supplied by donations from Betmar residents. And yes, donations of refreshments are needed. All food donations may be left in the Clubhouse 2 kitchen at 2:00 p.m. Volunteers who are helping with this event can come around 4:30ish to get everything set up. Any questions? Kitchen Band The Kitchen Band will meet for the first time this season on Friday, October 26, at 9:00 a.m. in Clubhouse 3. Anyone interested in participating in the Kitchen Band should show up at Clubhouse 3 this Friday at 9:00 a.m. The band will be going over music for November. Dance Club There will be a Halloween Theme Dance this Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. in Clubhouse 2 with music by Larry Edwards. Advance tickets will be sold between 8:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. in Clubhouse 2 this Thursday morning. Please arrive early and be sure to place your name on the official sign-up sheet. You will be called forward on a first-signed, first-served basis. Tickets will also be sold at the door the night of the dance at $5.00 per person. Costumes are optional, but make for a fun time and jump at the chance to be a kid again. It is not necessary to purchase or rent a costume. Just rig up something with what you already may have. 5 Visitors Bill Manning, Jr. and his wife Vicki and daughter Melanie from Shelbyville, Indiana, are visiting Bill and Irene Manning. Len and Meretha Durham from Crossville, Tennessee, are visiting Joe and Lynda Cutter. New Resident Scott Wyman from Maine is a new resident now living on Sparta Circle. Scott Wyman

6 November Bulletins The November Bulletins will be available for pick-up sometime next week. Delivery of the bulletins will begin during the last week of November, delivering the December bulletins. Barry Mohlman, Betmar s webmaster, had a few words to add to this announcement regarding delivery of the bulletins. He remarked that those who have signed up for the website s are now receiving their bulletins in the comfort of their homes, by of course. And the bulletins on the are in full color! There are now over 400 residents signed up to receive website s that include the coffee news, bulletin, calendar and so much more! Please ask your friends and neighbors to sign up so they, too, can receive the bulletins in the comfort of their homes. Delivery of the hard copy will still take place, of course, even for those who are receiving s.
