1 Tales from the Gridiron Volume 2 Issue 5 One thing fans made abundantly clear this week, was how much they love their Lancers. Shouts from the other side were met with fierce battle cries awash in a sea of Lancer Blue. Even if WMUR sports reporter Jamie Staton wore red to our field, we didn t care, because we had each other. And when the ending to this chapter became more and more apparent, we continued to cheer. Because it s easy to cheer when you are on top, but it takes strength to stand tall amongst giants. Pinkerton may be the bigger school, but we outnumbered them in heart that week. So I raise my fists, not just in support of a team, but to show pride in my community and in these outstanding young men. There comes a day when you realize turning the page is the best feeling in the world, because you realize there is so much more to the book than the page your were stuck on. -Zayn Malik

This week we take a look at Attitudes and Actions, what kind of athlete does the team need to become a championship team? Competitive athletes love individual highlights and stats but its s important to remember teams aren t made of individuals. A championship caliber team needs everyone pulling in the same direction. This may seem like a no brainer but it can be challenging to sacrifice individuality for the team. Here is a great quote from Bill Belichick Mental toughness is doing the right thing for the team when it s not the best thing for you. Enter the Lancer Way; Commit to the team, hold each other accountable, be coachable and be unselfish. Championship teams are loaded with committed and compelled athletes so Be Blue!

11 We hurt ourselves early on which haunted us throughout the rest of the game. Our players were a little over aggressive at the beginning, I know there was a lot of excitement for this game, they all wanted to make a big play, but vs a good team like that we need to just execute the game plan. The early turnovers were tough to overcome, we cannot start off like that vs any good team. Our effort was great, the atmosphere was awesome, and I think we all appreciate the support from the town this past week. 17 The Lancers fell to the Pinkerton Astros last Thursday a few plays didn t go our way here and there and Pinkerton seemed to capitalize on those. The boys fought hard throughout and didn t give up. We are looking forward to improving this week as we play a new opponent in the Windham Jaguars, and every day at practice. We get back out there on Thursday, 15 minutes down the road at 4pm in Windham! ~Go Lancers!
