2 Rita s Italian Ice LN Student-Athlete of the Week We are proud to announce that Rita s Italian Ice will once again be our sponsor of the LN Student-Athlete of the Week! Check out their website and menu here: or give them a call at Caroline Salvas, Golf and Aaron Coats & Tony Rodriguez, Soccer Salvas, a junior, has consistently led the girls golf team this year, averaging a 40 in dual meets so far, carding a season best 38 last week. She shot an 82 at the MIC championships on Monday, placing 7 th overall and earning a spot on the All-MIC team! Coats and Rodriguez, both seniors, led the team to their first win of the season, a 3-2 win over MIC rival Warren Central. Tony scored the opening goal and drew a foul for a PK with 2:30 left in the game. Aaron assisted on Tony s goal and scored the pressure-packed PK to put the Cats ahead for good in the WC win. Great job, Wildcats!
3 Cheerleading: The Wildcats made the long trip to Richmond, cheering on the team to a big win. The squad is excited for this week s LN vs LC game, it s time for the Cats to get their claws out!
4 Cross Country: The boys and girls cross country teams got rained out at Danville and Taylor University. They will be preparing for the Harrison Invitational in Lafayette this Saturday.
5 Football: The Wildcat football team (2-0, 0-0 MIC) beat Richmond on Friday, The defense was on fire, as Jordan St. Clair and Derin McCulley both had interceptions returned for a touchdown. Quentin Tinson led the front line with 6 tackles, 1 sack, and a fumble recovery. Running backs Keyto Stewart and Keyshawn Smith continue to be a good 1-2 punch for the team, as both had big runs for LN. Stewart led the scoring attack, picking up 3 TD s. Donaven McCulley scored a TD on a nifty QB scramble, Travon Hegler scored on a 15-yard TD run, and kicker Connor Benson nailed a 35-yard field goal. Now, the MIC season starts with a bang. It s LN vs LC Week! The Wildcats travel to Lawrence Central (0-2) for the annual Bell Trophy Game this Friday night at 7:00pm. The last three games have been decided by a combined 8 points. Pre-sale tickets are $6 available now through 2:00pm on Friday in the LN athletic office, 8:30am 4:30pm. Tickets at the gate will be $ Students must be ready to show their school ID upon entry. 7 Girls Golf: The golf team is currently 4-4 this season. The team beat Beech Grove but lost to Park Tudor and LC last week. The girls placed 6 th at the MIC championships at Wood Wind Golf Course on Monday. Caroline Salvas led the team with an 82, placing 7 th overall and earning a spot on the All-MIC team!
8 Girls Soccer: The Wildcats (3-0-1, 1-0 MIC) tied a good Pendleton Heights team 0-0 and then beat Warren Central for their first MIC win of the year. Ryli John, Lauren Koehl, and Grace Moore scored goals in the Wildcats 4-0 win over WC. The team will host Ben Davis on Wednesday for Senior Night before heading to the North Central Invite this weekend for games against Plainfield and Fort Wayne Canterbury.
9 Boys Soccer: The Wildcats (1-3, 1-0 MIC) got rained out twice against North Central, but did play a game against MIC rival Warren Central. The Cats picked up a great 3-2 road win over the Warriors in dramatic fashion. Tied 2-2, Tony Rodriguez drew a foul for a penalty kick with 2:30 left in the game. Then, Aaron Coats stepped up to drill the go-ahead goal and the LN defense held on to give the Cats the win. The team will be back in action on Tuesday at Shelbyville before traveling to Ben Davis on Thursday.
10 Boys Tennis: The team went 0-3 last week, losing to Brebeuf, Carmel, and Noblesville. The netters have lost two varsity players to injury, out for a few weeks to recover. The team will try to bounce back this week with matches against Center Grove, Park Tudor, and Chatard.
11 Volleyball: The Wildcats (2-5, 1-0 MIC), picked up a 3-1 win over Muncie Central, and then lost twice on the road to Providence and Floyd Central on Saturday. The team will play at MIC rival Ben Davis on Tuesday and then will host Bishop Chatard on Thursday.
