1 Mentor Public Schools The Cornerstone of the Community The Shore Stakeholder Dear Shore Community Member, The scheduling process for the school year has begun. Information appears on p. 2-3 of this edition and also on the Shore Web Page under Administration go to the Guidance Tab. If you have questions please contact the Shore Guidance Office. Shore s Step It Up program is up and walking on Tuesdays after school and Thursdays before school. This walking program was started last year with the cooperation of a Safe Routes to Schools grant with the City of Mentor Recreation Department and encourages fitness among our students and staff members. Students are given a pedometer each time they participate and asked to monitor their steps as they walk around Shore (in inclement weather) and outside when the weather turns nicer! Tuesday afternoon s A Message from the Principal program is from 3:45-4:45 p.m. and Thursday morning s program is from 7:30-8:30 a.m. Students will be walking with Shore staff members! We encourage as many students and staff as possible to join us and Step It Up! Let s see how many steps we can log between now and the end of the school year! Attention Parents of 5th grade students there will be an informational meeting for incoming 6th grade students for the school year on January 26 at 6:00 p.m. in the Shore Main Gym. Please park in the lot closest to Veteran s Park as parking is limited by our Main Gym area. We look forward to meeting with you and welcoming you to Shore Middle School! Fine Arts Center. These two 7th grade students have been itching to wear their best winter gear last week.thankfully the weather has cooperated the past couple weeks..nice mohawks boys! MARK YOUR CALENDAR! 9 7th Grade Parents please mark your calendars for a very important meeting with the Lake County PLUS Instructors and members of the Lake County Sheriff s Department. This meeting will be held on February 1, 2012 from 7-9:00 p.m. at Memorial Middle School s Auditorium. The focus of the meeting will be to share PLUS survey results from the Mentor 7th grade classes, discuss synthetic drugs like SPICE and Bath Salts as well as some of the other drugs adolescents are getting involved in, and there will be information on Internet safety. Attention 6th, 7th and 8th graders, It s back! The tourney you have all been waiting for. It s Dodgeball time! Stop by Mr. Toot s room to pick up a team sheet. We will play a doubleelimination tournament on Monday, February 6 after school in the large gym. Don t miss out on the fun! See Mr. Toot for details. The tourney is open to all Shore students.
