Imagine how one item can bring together so may memories and new knowledge; that is Show and Tell! Betty spent many years working on Fort Huachuca. For her retirement, she was given this scrapbook. TRANSPORTATION Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Pete is showing us a very special bottle opener! Marjorie is showing us her weather dial. Ginger is showcasing her Olympic pin assortment. Super cool!

2 September s Photo of the Month Dave wins Photo of the Month. He is showcasing his love for Cheetos and Pepsi. Who wants a Cheeto? Go see Dave and he can help! Just teasing. Thanks, Ingrid and Dave, for the photo! Volleyball! That s What s Up! We all thought we would give Volleyball a try this past August. Boy, was it fun! I had no idea we had so many Olympic athletes! Everyone played an hour straight. Nothing but a good time! Check out the aerial view of our game! Pretty cool! Ingrid and Dave having fun! Lida s Gardening Corner Lida has done an amazing job with the upkeep of the flower gardens behind Mountain View Gardens. It is a tough job, pulling weeds and watering the flowers and plants as needed. Lida does it, though, every day! When you have an opportunity during one of your walks around the community, stop and check out the gardens. Also, feel free to pick a freshly ripened tomato or chili pepper. Just remember when removing a tomato or pepper to twist the fruit from the vine instead of pulling it. It is much healthier for the plant! Lida is watering the flowers. So pretty! Green tomatoes!

More information will be given out in the beginning of September. Preparations and meetup will begin at 10 a.m., in the Atrium. Creative Writing This was submitted by Marion Peterson. Marion participates weekly in our Writers Group that is held every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. Please enjoy her poem: The Robin I saw a Robin swiftly go. Pulling a worm out nice and slow. Then she went and gobbled it up. Babies were waiting there to sup. Those little heads reached for the sky. They were ugly, and that s no lie. She regurgitated a worm. Darn thing could still jerk and squirm. When babies were fed, she left the nest. To find more worms, to do her best. Some people should stop, look and learn. How Robins show their love in turn. Marion Peterson September 23rd: Our first ever Art and Quilt Show will begin today at 2 p.m. This will be an exciting event. September 25th: Marion will be here today at 9:30 a.m., in the Atrium to showcase all of her beautiful handmade greeting cards. She will have different occasions to choose from today. September 26th: Hearing Dynamics will be cleaning hearing aids and answering questions beginning at 3 p.m., upstairs in the Library. September 27th: Sonoita Wine Tasting Trip today. Stay tuned for more information! Marion Peterson

5 Ladies Tea Party Each year, we have a wonderful tea party for the ladies, but this particular year took the cake. Our tea party was co-hosted with Tracy from Bayada Home Health Care. Mountain View Gardens provided the delicious tea sandwiches, strawberries and tea. Bayada provided the beautiful decorations and props for our event. They were so pretty! Our ladies had an amazing afternoon. We did have a few gentlemen crash the party. That s okay, we gave them a hat and pearls and they soon fit right into the group! Thank you, Tracy! You are amazing! We appreciate you helping make our event such a success! Janis, Shirley and Ingrid are so pretty in floral! This is a fun group of ladies! Chef Tim, June and Dave are ready for the party. Chef Tim and Dave even wore their tea party hats. So pretty, June! Such a pretty picture of Dorothy Gorgeous! Betty and Barbara are ready to begin! Lovely ladies! Karen, Dee, and Jean are beautiful! Mickey, you are stunning! So pretty! Best friends forever! These lovely ladies are always together and so fun to hang out with each day! Love them! Tracy from Bayada co-hosted our Ladies Tea Party. Tracy did an amazing job with all the decorations and props! Thank you!

6 Rat Pack and Casino Event A big thank you to Mario for coming out and playing for our Rat Pack and Casino event! He had a huge crowd singing along as he performed for us! Chris from the Ethel Berger Senior Center, loaned casino tables to us for our event! Thank you, Chris, for your support! Residents and guests had the opportunity to play Texas Hold Em, Blackjack and Craps to win poker chips. These poker chips were used to spin our Wheel of Fortune. We gave away a huge flat screen television, dinners in the Mountain View Gardens Private Dining Room, gift cards to local restaurants and a super cool gift bag. It was so much fun! We have a ton of fun during our events. All we need is you, so please join us! I promise, you will laugh and smile! Mario was our guest performer for the Rat Pack Event. Come on, Jacque! Let s win a prize! What s a little fake money? Dee looks marvelous in her shiny blouse! Nathan feels like a Vegas superstar with Joan and Dottie at his side! Big money, big money! Poker chips were won to use on the prize wheel for a chance to win something awesome! Barbara asks Nathan to blow on the dice for good luck!
